Another great video! Tau are really fun to paint, just a shame that no one seems to have the Tau boarding patrol in stock, it's been impossible to get hold of one.
Just can't seem to get the Flesh Tearers step right. No idea what I'm doing wrong but the end result is never the same.
Love your Contrast+ series though, use it all the time for other projects!
With these mixes of paints do you find yourself mixing more paint than you use? I always find when doing contrast mixes they almost dry faster than I can paint it. Or is that just a necessary evil?
I love this, apart from the glaze step that made the a shiny finish, but that just preference
Id agree the red certainly had more value before glazing

Is there any reason that he seems a much darker red in the final hero shot compared to when you painted it, or is it just lighting? Otherwise awesome. I will be following this guide :)

Question: I am just about dipping my toes in contrast painting, but I figured it would be a good idea to paint the darkest colors first, in this case black before red? Or am I mistaken?
whats a good color to clean up with if you mess up the free hand on any of the parts? especially the armor?

Just asking, why 2 red contrast colors, if we are going to layer everything with third red color which will hide contrast colors ? Iam not saying its wrong or something, but does really first red contrast change color of third red ? Thanks
So it's kinda like, What an 'Eavy Metal Painter would do is something along the lines of Brown > Brown + Red > Red + Another Red > Another Red + Orange > Orange + Flesh > Flesh. In that gradual gradient up to from the recess to the Point of the edge highlight. What We do here as we don't come from Brown is we come down from White and whilst it doesn't make sense to go Red - Red - Red. Because Contrast has that multiplying effect the more layers that go on. That's essentially what we're doing here. It also has that added benefit of keeping things within the same gradient if the two juxtaposing colours in this case Red and a Purple by adding a consistent tone over both!
