This looks incredible. Like the synthwave Tyranids, a short, consise, and easy to follow guide. I think I make try swapping the pink for a neon green. Whenever I actually get to my Farsight model. 😂
@@heresyforheretics I'm VERY new to the hobby (and I've never painted ANYTHING in my life), and this instantly caught my attention. What would I mix to get a Neon Blue effect? I'm making some notes on a few schemes and I've got some very old minis to practice on first. One of them is doing an all dark like this, with two shades from opposing sides and then a white trim with a neon blue tron tracer kinda vibe.
@@jcklsldr keep it simple and just find a nice bright blue paint. Something like royal blue from the Army Painter fanatics range. It's a really vivid blue. Neon or fluorescent blue can be hard to work with
I've been struggling on the scheme I wanted to go with for my Tau. I wanted darker overall look but also that synthwave feel with focus on purples, blues, and magenta but couldn't get it to read quite right - This is PERFECT and I will be referencing this non-stop I'm certain.
Of course I find this amazing art style just after I finish painting farsight boring red. This style is Beautiful and I will definitely attempt it with the rest of my models, just wish I found it a bit sooner!
I JUST completed a Farsight model 2 days ago (doing it entirely with slapchop). If i saw this vid 2 days sooner, I'd have skipped the zenthol and gave this a try, because this is like Farsight meets John wick in a rave club. It wouldnt match the rest of my army, but itd be an INSANE model to always have on display. This is awesome, and looks really simple, just absolutely nerve wracking and time consuming. I also have shaky hands, so i doubt i could pull it off, lol
@chivemonkey1991 what kind of air brush tutorial would you like? I'm actually planning a video of air brush vs traditional brush work. It'll be a paint guide and tutorial in both styles

I've watched for a long time your shorts and only realised I'm not even a sub, sorry. i am now. also one day when the codex is out, I'm sure Aun'shi will be redesigned for the Kroot wave coming, so be cool to see your take on him and add another fishface in your shorts to get swamped unless fighting other low tier combatants :D
Is it important for the overall effect to NOT highlight the edges of the black parts with any kind of grey colour? As you have left this part out it has to be significant.
I think art grade oil magenta would be better for blending with more and the pigmentation is of highter quality. But the overall scheme is pretty good for tau. Your technique is also really good on the yellow part.
Agreed. Magenta oul paints are a blast but their blessing is also their curse. A drastically increased working time. Great for blending and can really dial in and smooth blends buuuuut I'm impatient 🤣
I’d love to see an extension of this video where you show how to apply these techniques and style to other parts of the Tau range. Tau flesh, Kroot, Fabric, Tanks etc.
Any update on this? I’ve started painting my tau army, thinking of going this solid black neon/tron scheme for my leaders, and slightly less black/neon synthwave for my squads and normal suites

But if ever, would you be releasing a video how you made your deathleaper? It has ti be the best colorscheme for tyranids I've ever seen. The base is painted in all the same colours as the farsight but mixed into some neutral greys and then a walk of AK Interactive dark tone to pull it all back down
i usually give it a quick black coat after priming when keeping a black base just so i can clean up with the same colour black but this one doesnt overly need it tbh
Not sure if you can change to location or time that your logo appears I'm sure you didn't mean it to come on at the exact moment and location to block the front of the model as soon as it turns for the reveal
@heresyforheretics Awesome brother! Also, could you maybe expand on how to paint other units in the army so that it doesn't all look the same, but using the same pallette to be interesting in other ways? Thanks man. Just got a new subscriber 😉

Killing me on your colors. You say you are shooting a blue, but what's going onto the model looks violet. Is that color correction on the video? Studio lighting. Or just a really violet blue. What's going on there?
Id very much like more coverage of the blending. Its incredibly annoying when you keep skipping to the finished look, as those are the bits i want to see the most! Haha
My wife will not kill me if I paint tau lobe your style and will my 3d printer is running to build me a new tau army so I can paint it close to how you do... I ask if you do commission work but don't want your wife killing you for painting more tau

Thanks mang! if you use the colours from the legs and head then glaze over some fluro green it makes an amazing neon green!

If you do more fish guys I would definitely like to see doing it without an airbrush cause I’ve maxed in plastic instead of getting an airbrush

Do you use paint thinner to achieve the color blending?

Sorry for the newb question but the black base is that just a primer coat or is it a different black after a primer coat?
i usually give it a quick black coat after priming when keeping a black base just so i can clean up with the same colour black but this one doesnt overly need it tbh

It could be a combination of all of those thing plus with the blue I used being so thing the black primer pulls alot of the saturation out of it
