  • @stunninglad1
    @stunninglad1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    It;s as simple as that! Learn your participles, contractions and when to use 'have' and 'has' and you've cracked it.
    The Present Perfect Continuous is also known as the Present Perfect Progressive:
    have or has + been + present participle.
    I've been writing annoying comments here since the dawn of time!
    I have been waiting for an update on your due date.
    The Past Perfect Continuous/Progressive:
    had + been + present participle
    Ray had been thinking about teaching it, but he decided against it.
    She had been waiting for ages, so I felt really guilty for being late.

    • @EnglishLikeANative
      @EnglishLikeANative  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I mention close to the beginning that this tense is used to talk about an activity that is ongoing. If you have been playing tennis since last year (and it's still a sport you play) then you use this tense. More examples of using this tense. The coronavirus has been infecting people all year. Americans have been considering who to vote for recently. People have been protesting many issues this year. etc.
