Simple Banana Pudding - Creamy and Delicious, Bursting with Flavor - Always a Crowd Favorite!

- Simple Banana Pudding
3 small boxes (3.4 oz. each) Instant Banana Cream Pudding mix
4 1/2 cups whole milk
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
8 ounce carton sour cream
16 ounces Cool Whip
6 - 8 ripe bananas, sliced
2 - 3 boxes Vanilla Wafers
Combine pudding mixes with milk until thick. Blend in the sugar and vanilla. Fold in the sour cream and Cool Whip.
In a large serving dish layer:
vanilla wafers
1/2 of the pudding mixture
half of the bananas
another layer of the wafers
the remainder of the bananas
the remainder of the pudding.
Add a final layer of wafers. 
Chill well before serving.

My mom taught me to make the banana pudding like this except she did not use sour cream. My kids love it and so do my grandkids.

I have made this many times. The only difference was I did not put the sour cream In it. I know that would make it taste much better and I think a little less sweet. That sounds WONDERFUL to Me. Thank You Both for sharing this recipe with Us.

That's my recipe for many years, except I use French Vanilla Pudding mix and I do not use the extra sugar nor the vanilla flavoring. And I only make about a third of that. I still use 16 oz Cool Whip and 2 boxes of the pudding mix with 2 1/2 cups milk. I like a l o t of pudding. And I'm crazy about Cool Whip! Sooooo good!
EDIT: I'm with you, Tom, I didn't know there was such a thing as "too early for banana pudding"! I've been known to eat it for breakfast.

Oh how do I love watching you cook , it reminds me of my husband. God called him eight years ago so I find comfort in watching you and hearing the love in Melissa's voice.
Banana pudding was one of my mother's go-to desserts to make, and it was my youngest niece's personal favorite. She asked for it often, and even when she didn't ask, mom whipped some up when she was around. I've never been a fan of the Nilla wafers because they get too soggy for me, so I always tried my best to avoid them when I scooped out mine. My dad preferred graham crackers, but he's the only person I've ever known who asked for it that way. I, however, preferred it with yellow cake. I like how the pudding and cake go together. I guess that kinda makes it like a trifle, maybe, but it's awesome. Either way it's done, I'm gonna go in for a big old scoop. Appreciate the video, and I am sure those teachers loved their surprise when they went to the workroom.

I watched your video yesterday 5/27/24 and my husband and I are the only ones that would eat this pudding, so today 5/28/24 I cut your recipe to fit what we could eat, I used 1 8 ozs of cool whip 1 box of banana cream pudding 1 1/2 cup of milk 1 tsp vanilla 3 spoons of sugar and a large. sprint of sour cream
Whipped everything and it was perfect , followed the rest of your video less cookies of course, layered the bananas topped with pudding and put in frig for 2 hours, I couldn't wait to try so I tasted a square and wow so delicious! Cookies were still not mushed and they were awesome. Thank you Tom

Line a large loaf pan with Saran Wrap. Leave extra to cover the top of the ice cream.
Ingredients
1 can sweetened condensed milk
3 TBSP of instant banana pudding
Vanilla wafers - I use the small ones.
2 bananas- diced small
1 pint heavy whipping cream
1 tsp vanilla or banana flavoring
Line bottom of loaf pan with vanilla wafers
In large bowl mix sweetened condensed milk with banana pudding mix. Add flavoring.
With a mixer whip the heavy whipping cream until it has stiff peaks. Blend in the bowl with the sweetened condensed milk mixture.
Pour a layer over the vanilla wafers. Put a layer of bananas and wafers. Add another layer of pudding. Make as many layers as your pan will hold.
I love the vanilla wafers so I try to get as many of them in my pan as possible.
Cover and freeze 8 hours. I hope you enjoy it.

First, I want say how much I enjoy your videos! But…it seems to me this is a complicated and higher calorie banana pudding than what I grew up with! I’m 70 and I use Vanilla Waffers, of course, a box of vanilla instant pudding and round sliced bananas, usually 2-3 layers, alternating, of course, each ingredient. Then refrigerate until set. Always been a favorite and so quick and easy! I’ll have to try your recipe although it is more complicated! Love y’all in Texas!

For crying out out loud Tom! Use a smooth stainless or glass mixing bowl 🥣! My husband watches now and then and when you use the bowls that are not flat surfaced, he says “why is he using that kind of bowl? It’s making the pudding splatter all over plus you can’t get all the ingredients out of the bowl as easy” 😅 so I told him I would comment to you about it. It bugs the crap out of him…makes me giggle.

Really enjoy your channel! Love a good recipe!!! Adore any kind of Macaroni Salad!! My one grandma @ 2 grandpa’s only went through 8th grade. You needed to work on the farm. Men in the fields, women in the kitchen and tending to the big kitchen garden plots. In the summer they canned for the winter months, cooked for the men working and farm hands three meals a day. Did the laundry for 12 people. Just a different time and place. I was lucky to be an only grandchild on both sides of the family. They helped raised me! In the summer on the Weekends I’d go to the cabin, winter weekends, with my Moms parents.

Yum!! 😋 Looks very delicious! My late Mom made Banana Pudding couple of ways. One was similar to yours, and the other she would make special for the Holidays. In a deep 9x13, making a graham cracker crust, and homemade vanilla pudding stirring 45 minutes, bananas, and a homemade whipped cream topping. It was delicious. My brother requested it every Holiday. lol Now I need to make him one like my mom did. I do the easy way. lol 😅
