Vauxhall Vivaro (no power, check engine light on, spanner light on)

- This vauxhall Vivaro (Renault Trafic) had no power and the check engine light on. I checked for fault codes, there was a glow plug issue and a radiator coolant fan relay fault.
The faults were stopping the van carrying out a DPF Regeneration.
After diagnosing and fixing the faults, I had a fault code come back with excessive soot content in the DPF. I managed to use another scan tool to carry out a regeneration and I'd brought the soot content right down to 0.8 grams and the power was restored.
No more check engine light.

Loving the videos mate keep them coming. I like your thought process and diagnostics steps big thumbs up 👍
Thanks for watching and your comment Allan
@@mechanicmatt871 hi. Thanks for your video help.. Helped me, but now I have another problem. I have a 2012 Vivaro 2.0 diesel, and the screen show oil pressure fault, and the car don't fire. I have this code. df067 injection multiplexed emission missing. Have you seen any of these issues? Thanks
I haven't seen that fault before. Maybe worth checking the oil pressure switch, or oil pressure. Cheers Matt
Good old snap on saves the day! Cheers Matt, Sandy
It's starting to get out of date but I keep hold of it for times like this. Cheers Matt
Hey Matt,nice video.have a good day

Hi matt nice Diagnosis,, what made you go in the direction of the cooling fan relay ?I did not see any codes referring to this ,,,,enjoyed the video nice fix ,,,,
It was when I saw the thermal plunger fault code, I was on the wrong relay here. It turns out that it is French for emersion heater, meaning the glow plugs that are in the coolant system to defrost the screen. The customer had said that the coolant fan didn't come on, I thought it may need to see the cooling fan work to allow the regeneration due to the high temperature. I tested each relay and found that one didn't work, with the relay out I jumped the load side in the fuse box to see what would come on. The fans started then, so I put the new relay in and it allowed the regeneration to take place.
The other problem with the thermal plunger relay wasn't shown on this video, that ended up getting a control box at the front of the n,s wheel arch. Thanks for watching
Hello, what voltage you have on the pins from the glow plug relay?
Great video Matt 👍
👍👍 NICE ONE MATT....
This one was able to regenerate, saving the customer the cost of a DPF, it just needed the glow plug and coolant fans working first.
It uses the glow plugs on a regen and injects some fuel on the exhaust stroke.

Hi mate thanks for the great video.. I have the same problem. My Vivaro 2012 2.0. Doesn't start.. I have a error code DF067 injection multiplexed emission missing. Today I noticed that I do not have 12V on the wire of the ECU T2. Do you happen to know where this wire comes from? Or do you have the diagram? Thank you
Great video Sir, is any cheap obd tool to bay so can do DPF regeneration by my self?
Hi, cheep scan tools don't tend to carry out forced DPF regeneration. However if the car is working with no faults then it should be able to regenerate it's self.
I have seen autel and launch for around £800 able to carry out a forced regeneration and even then on some cars they are unable to do that.

Hi mate I'm having the same problem, need to find a better scanner as mine is also a launch one. Do you have a garage? I'm in falkirk so not far.
Hi Gary, I don't have my own garage, I just work at one and help out my other local garages. Unfortunately it's bad timing because we are in the process of moving so my time is taken up getting the flat ready. I may have time for a quick look after lock down if you fancy a drive through to Leven
hi matt great video ive done the live test into the module plug and all four do not light the test lamp am i unluky enough to have four dead glow plugs ?????? is there another test i can do im scared to try and take out the plugs in case they break then its head off to get them out.ide be gratfull to hear your thoughts or anyone else have any ideas
kindest regards karl
It can sometimes be that all four glow plugs are gone although usually at least one is still ok. If you are using the test light method, try touching the test light to something like the cylinder head to test that it lights first then touch the top of the glow plugs. I always like to test the test light so I'm not going in the wrong direction. If you want another way to check you could carry out a resistance test with a multimeter set to ohms ( the one that looks like a horse shoe ) with one lead on the multimeter touching the cylinder head and the other lead from the multimeter touching the top of the glow plug you should have around 1 ohm on each glow plug. Take your time working the glow plug back and forth and gradually they should come out. Try using maintenance spray or nail varnish remover while working the glow plugs out.
I hope this helps
@@mechanicmatt871 hi matt
so i checked again and your spot on 1 still worked.however i've brought 4 new ones got 3 out and 1 has snapped. i've checked with the live test again and 3 are good but its made no difference.it starts but just will not run unless i use easy start
. any ideas
kind regards karl
Autel should have done that regen you have one dont you ?. good fix thanks for sharing
No I don't Ian, the garage I was at in this video has one, I used to use that when I worked there myself. I didn't think to use theirs today, I was surprised the launch didn't want to do it when it realized it had 70 grams of soot. The snap on wasn't so fussy though. It's good to know that the Autel will do it.

@@mechanicmatt871 Yea some times you can reset the dpf to new and cheat the system a little and it will work den
Nice
