Just that the story for that video is still kinda unfolding haha, you'll see. But I wanted to be able to do it right. Also wanted to break up these wrenching videos with some other footage. The Ducati MotoGP video is really good I feel like, worked pretty hard on it. www.patreon.com/posts/ducati-gave-me-66301099
Glad to see over the years you have both stayed good friends, I live in the uk like you spicy but it would be awesome to see you go to the us and ride with jake one day( y) I think that would be a top video!
9:10 NASA Calculations were carried out using the metric system, but display readouts were in units of feet, feet per second, and nautical miles - units that the Apollo astronauts were accustomed to. So imperial units were just there to complicate things for the sake of "we are used to them" but not actually used to calculate all the physics of getting there. 😜
Just got mine today. the 200mm black stainless oval with carbon tip. Took only 2 days to go from the UK to Kentucky. Crazy fast. I'm happy to support this company. Mine did not come with the exhaust gel.
I've used black widow on both an mt07 and mt09. Great priced and looks and performs great used tunes with both. And just like you said they both lined up and fit perfect! 💪
Not really. The new exhaust is going back to technology of decades ago where all you had to do was reduce the dB's a bit, and inhibit sparks from setting the forest alight. Well, I'm assuming they have a spark arrestor in there. Meanwhile the modern exhaust has a catalyst or two in there, double walled tubes because heat insulation and crack prevention, reverberation chambers to actually reduce noise to a sociable level, etc.
Damn, I was here for the rev ups and woo hoos! :) Great series, lots to learn, lots of progress on the bike Jake! Love it all... ... yeah, and nice on finally finding an available exhaust of course :P
Can vouch for Black Widow. Bought a couple of their exhausts and always a perfect fit, well made and don't blow their wadding out like other exhausts I've had. I wish they used gaskets between the joins though so you don't need messy paste.
You do nice work. I had '13 250L that had full FMF Megabomb header with the Q4 muffler. It did add hp but I hated how loud it was. I recently bought a 300L and love how quiet the exhaust is, but I'm still getting more power and certainly more torque. One thing that made me really dislike the loud exhaust was the use of comms. We started using them a few years ago and it was hard to hear, especially when accelerating. I wish they made a replacement muffler that was the same decibels as stock, but much lighter. I figure I'm probably in the minority on this lol.
Brit here. Japanese bikes will usually have 12mm flats on an m8 bolt and 14mm flats on an m8 nut. There will be exceptions to that. Ordinary metric hardware in UK has 13mm flats on both m8 nuts and m8 bolts. It would be pretty crazy to find a 1/2" head on anything metric. Maybe on some British or American vehicle from around the time metric became standard, and standard became American size.
I'm sure you already thought about it, but that empty space where you took out the charcoal thingy is the perfect size for a little cylinder tube thing to holds stuff like registration and insurance papers, and maybe some tools like a little screwdriver for the airbox and a spare spark plug maybe.
Put a blackwidow high mount on my 99 vfr800. They were one of the few that made a high mount. I was honest so impressed with how good their exhausts are. Can't go wrong with this brand and the price cant be beat.
13mm isn't that uncommon over here. Generally bolts are even sized up to 12mm (8, 10, 12mm etc) and above 12mm they use odd sizes (13, 15, 17mm etc) and then it just becomes a mix of the both
... What happened about the "Check Engine" light? What did you do about it? Great info and video! New Rally owner of a slightly used 2021. 1944 miles when I purchased it. Thanks, . Jeff .
Also the long bolt that holds on the silencer that goes through the spacer was only threaded about an inch or two which wasn't enough so I've had to add an even longer spacer. Other than that no problems with my black widow so far.
Im happy with my Black Widow on my CRF300l...i kept the baffle in so I could put a Fisch Moto spark arrestor in it but I cut the end cap of the baffle off, it was a little too high pitch for my taste.
Hi guys, nice video changing this parts from CB300. Here from Barcelona Spain. Just want to ask if is possible in my CRF 250 Rally, mount a full engine from a 300L bike. Instead of changing inside engine parts, if better to mount an engine from a CRF 300L in mine. Many thanks and keep doing this job. Gasss!!!

Had a Black Widow on my Grom for a while, but took it off cause it was a bit too loud for me. It seemed good quality though, never had any issues with it and it was a hell of a lot lighter than stock
@@TheGardenSnake You plan to mod the baffle for a little more sound? Every baffle insert I've ever heard changed the tone significantly, which I really hate. Deep and throaty turns into raspy, nasally, and hollow.
By the looks of how high you've mounted the pipe, couldn't you do away with the small bracket extension and just slide the muffler clamp up to the mounting point on the frame? Ps. Love your vids.
Hello Jake, I have the CRF300L blackwidow header and exhaust, I need to ask if you know what the other thing in the little box is for? It's with the crush washer, whatever it is, I damaged it opening the box, fell on the floor and I thought it was metal & stamped on it to stop it rolling away 😢, I have no clue what it's for at all, any info would be great, I never noticed you using it in this video, or did I miss it lol, cheers buddy 👍

When you refer to having to buy your own header gasket, even if its a after market pipe you could still use the OEM one right? The one they give you looks a lot different than what I found online as OEM

Which Fish Moto arrestor did you end up getting, I need one too?
13mm and 10mm are the most common bolt size across Europe. You find in Asian models they substitute the 13mm for 12mm because 13 is an unlucky number.
