    Is the PHEV going to replace the normal petrol engines

    • @dunphyjp
      @dunphyjp 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would guess within 10 years PHEVs will be The norm since most people won’t want to go full electric but gasoline engines will have too rigorous restrictions to use as gasoline only for the most part

    A very professional review of the Mini Countryman S E All4, AUTO E-Drive, MAX E-Drive, Save-Mode are great features, you really helped us in becoming an owner of a Mini Countryman. Big Thank you!

      tom Leaver glad you enjoyed the video was certainly a very different car. I agree seeing it in 1 of the other cars would be interesting but not sure when that is happening

      Thanks mate , god you enjoyed it. Question is would you go for a PHEV if it was quicker than a JVW

    Great review! I am interested in the Countryman SE or the S. Just not sure yet. I live in a major city and most of my trips are short.
    I wish it had better mileage on the battery.
    In the USA, it is about the same cost as a similar S.
    What are your thoughts on the mechanical longevity of the SE?
    Is it worth having 2 sets of gear (and possible headache) under the hood or better to stick with the petrol S?

    • @DamoDrives
      @DamoDrives  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would be surprised if the mechanicals on a new car would be an issue. If it is short trips then the SE is a very good idea, just work out distance you travel and the ability to charge

    If you don't do many long journeys this car is awesome, my fuel bill for 12 months is £100 for over 3000 miles & I still have 3/4 of a tank. A full charge is about 30p. It's also a gateway drug, now I'm craving a full BEV, I'm always slightly disappointed when the petrol engine starts despite it being surprisingly quick when both motors are running. Mini would never admit it but I think the SE was actually quicker than the JCW, at least 2 tests I saw got 0-60 in 5.8 but the JCW now has 300 bhp so I imagine it's quicker still.

      You have got the full Ev Mini out soon which will be exciting. Have driven the i3 which is full Ev so it will be the same tech, electric cars re really starting to become a sensible proposition and the charge times of round 30 minutes at the fast chargers makes it even more appealing.

    3 hours to charge from mains. 2 from a wall/public charger at 3.6kW output.

      More than happy to be corrected 😊 but that’s good news and makes it a better proposition 👏

    When just in battery mode so only rear wheels are driving how does it fair in say snow ? Or Does it change to all4 automatically and switches to petrol mode?

      Not sure how clever the system is, be nice if it did but would be pleasantly surprised if it does

    Most company car drives will need to use it for longer runs than 19 miles. Would be nice to hear your views if this car on a longer run. Especially given how difficult it is to try 1 on their nonexistent 48hr test drive promotion

    • @DamoDrives
      @DamoDrives  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately they only lent me the car for just a day so a longer run just was not possible. I did a fuel range test in a Hyuandia Ioniq hybrid which would have been ideal to do the same. It would have been nice to get a proper idea of combined fuel run as you are right about doing only 19 miles.

    Great video. How long is the charging cable?

    • @DamoDrives
      @DamoDrives  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I cannot remember how long the cable is but looking online there seems to be options from other companies providing 5m, 8m and 10m. The only thing to remember is not too use an extension cable

    Just doesn't have enough range for the American market and I'd say the Asian markets either since most are now close to 300miles electric range. I know this is a PHEV but BMW needs to make it ALL electric and get better range for state and federal government credit elsewhere. When you get a chance check out California approved electric vehicles this car doesn't and wouldn't make the cut due to poor distance driving. But I do like the new EV read out on the new mini Cooper hardtop it would be better for this car as well. As BMW ups the range I'll be thinking about buying. Also needs Android Auto.

    Can this charge the battery with the petrol engine like an i8

    • @DamoDrives
      @DamoDrives  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A A yes it will charge the battery. I did a range test as well on just electric and once it ran out the petrol engine kicked in (reviewed the i8 roadster as well 😊)

    Who would buy this? Lidl have chosen it as their company car of choice due to low emissions and low company car tax

    • @DamoDrives
      @DamoDrives  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Grant Green i like the idea of a PHEV but not sure I would choose this car, maybe if it was fitted to the clubman or the standard hatch

    I agree that this Mini can be interesting and fun on rather short distances, but I'm affraid it's too uncomfortable
    for the long(er) distance daily use. Neither the limited range of 500km does help with that.

    Your video do lack of light to see it clearly all the things you are talking about and music is loud sometimes. Nice looking car but expensive compare toyota , Nissan etc. you can pay 10k for looks and logo and brand

      1 of the cameras I use is a lot older and does give a dark image (it’s on my upgrade list) . Any comments are greatly appreciated to make better videos for everyone but hope you enjoyed it other than those little issues
