  • Well this was a blast to drive. This is the 2019 Mini Countryman S E Hybrid All4 also known as a PHEV or Partial Hybrid Electric Vehicle. Truly a unique hybrid vehicle in the marketplace and one I was really looking forward to driving. This car did not disappoint. Hope you enjoy the video.

I own one. It's not nearly as fast as he makes it out to be in all electric mode. But it is cool and nice and quiet. I just wish it had much more range. Also, more options wouldn't make it any faster. If anything, it would be slower due to the increasd weight.

It was fun to drive in electric mode. That’s all. I may oversell it sometimes.
Sad that the hybrid Countryman is done.

The MINIac So this charges while breaking and in gas mode - like a Prius? Therefore you only need to plug in if the battery is flat/low?

The MINIac So plugging it in is mandatory - Use Case - my wife travels 1.5m to and from work. On top of that I would probably do another 20 miles a day and have a heavy right foot so would probably be on gas. My question is whether I’d need to plug in every day or would the gas running charge the batteries and maybe full charge once a week?!

I have a 2019 S E and I love it. It is quick and still sporty for 3900 pounds. You can run it in Save mode and that runs gas motor only and it will recharge the battery to 90%.
My commute is short and have only used he gas mode to try it out and when we recently had snow.
      Fun car.

My mother has one (i live in the Netherlands). We now pay 2 euros for a liter of gas, thats like 9usd a gallon. She gets around 30km (almost 20 miles) and that covers most of het day to day groceries etc. In the weekends she goes to my grandmother to take care of her (she is in the last phase of her life) and thats around 40km (25 miles) each way. So before this she had a Countryman S all4 and her gas cost have gone down like 75%. Dont forget that all those small trips with a gas car is the worst thing you can do, but its the strong point of EV. On the highway the gas engine can take over and perform in its strength. For some one like my mother this is ideal on all fronts.

looka dere! It be one a dem dere inbreds!
LOL. So wait, you are telling me I have less range with that hybrid than with a JCW and it's only $1k cheaper? Not that I have the money for a new car anyways but... yeah no thanks, give me the regular turbo 4 until they figure out how to pull a Porsche 918 hybrid system off. (complete with that amazing exhaust) Well after researching the site is calling for 65mpg and only a 270 mile range with a 12 mile electric range... I don't get it or believe it.. I guess it's made for Europe where certain cities are planning on making gas engines illegal within city limits so you start in electric and then once you are out of the city you go to gas... but that's still a VERY small gas tank..

Do you think this is a great car for someone would like to drive a lot and spend a lot of time on the road? Do you think least is better for this model also? I'm concern with that electric part the range is too short.

@@zoetele123 me? No.. I don't like hybrids or electric cars. Get a gas car that gets good mileage. These electric and hybrid cars are evironmental disasters to produce/recycle, even if they put out less greenhouse gases when they run. Like I said, the short electric range of this seems to purely be for the European market where they are outlawing gas engines within the major cities like London and Paris. The idea is they will run electric within the city and the moment they are outside of it it will switch to gas and run normally.
If you want a fun car that gets good mileage, save the money and buy a Mini S or Clubman S. The modern ones get about 30mpg and will be more fun for less money.
