    Love it, you guys are hilarious. Also, regarding why everyone is so rushed at the beginning of the episode... I can confirm that this is the way it actually is in the Navy because the ships come in and have to fit into the shipyards schedule. There are a lot of things on a ship that cannot just be turned off or secured until the ship has been fully docked and personnel evacuated. One ship pulls out and the next pulls in for the service like going through a car wash. They have very limited time to get in and out.

    2:40 to me it seemed like the captain did this walk around because he had never seen the bridge totally empty. It's just him and his ship, the ship that he has captained for several years. I liked the moment of reflection, it seemed to fit.

      “Starship Mine” is the title, and is this why? Because it is HIS ship-and Picard would say-“I will fight to protect what is mine!”(?)

    • @briandiltsmusic
      @briandiltsmusic 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@spencerbissett3417I don’t think that’s true - based on outtake videos and what they’ve said, Nick was a fan of TNG and DS9 and Robert was a fan of TOS. They don’t always include references that people expect them to. Honestly I think they do that because they like to see the annoyed comments from ST fans 😂
      They are nitpicky when it comes to certain things and I sometimes disagree with ratings but I usually can see where they’re coming from.

      I suppose neither are that familiar with Tim Russ and Voyager...still, as experts in a way on Star Trek, it does seem like theyd have to be living in exile or a cave not to recognise the Tuvok coincidence, unless it was so obvious, but I didnt get a sarcasm vibe like normal.

    Aww you missed the irony of Tim Russ getting taken out by a Vulcan neck pinch. I think the only reason this episode is remembered fondly is because of Data's small talk subroutines. Everything else is forgettable shlock. Whenever I binge-rewatch TNG, I usually get to that point and then skip to the next one. Or to season 7.

    • @trazyntheinfinite9895
      @trazyntheinfinite9895 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Tim Russ once joked about it, saying that at hat time, Tuvok was undercover to catch the thieves, their buyers and other personell.
      It was a huge Operation pefectly laid out untill Picard showed up, actively inceased the bodycount and overall made things worse because now the people behind it all could not be found. Picards neck pinch never worked, tuvok was faking it while being weirded out by this utterly dumb behaviour of Picard.
      "Computer, Security alert, lock down ship and recall security personell" would have been the appropriate reaction. Not going john Mclane.

      I remember the episode fondly because Die Hard In Space worked for me. Die Hard was also very culturally relevant at the time and there was a market for similar stories, e.g. The Negotiator, Speed, and The Last Boy Scout. I think this episode worked a little too well with the audience because Patrick Stewart became Discount Bruce Willis in the movies and resolved everything with shooting and kicking.
