    I ve come across this breed in China, don't let the looks fool you, this breed is a serious guard dog. Its fiercely territorial, loud and does not back off. If it perceives you as a threat, it will come for you. I know this because we were invited to an event at one of our Chinese suppliers villa in Shanghai. The owner owned two of these, they were magnificent, extremely confident and very obedient. The owner told us they requires a lot of skill, time and patience to train but are an asset if fully trained.

      @@dustylong As a general rule, any breed that _any_ KC gets its dirty mitts on is ruined in every possible way. First they'll start subtly by boxing the dog up and barreling out it's chest (unless it's a fine boned breed). Then they'll move onto the physical features of the breed. They'll make long coats longer and poofy to boot, they'll turn a slight stop into no stop, or a pronounced but moderate stop into an L shaped stop, they'll turn a relatively short muzzle into no muzzle at all, they'll make a short legged but still functional and healthy breed so short legged and long backed that it barely has any ground clearance at all and stuffs it's back if it moves wrong, they'll make slightly loose flews so long that the dogs mouth is always dry because they can't stop drooling, not to mention the way the saliva burns skin that's not designed to be in prolonged contact with it, and of course all that loose facial skin pulls the eyelids down, exposing sensitive mucous membranes to constant contact with the air and debris, leading to sore and teary eyes and of course those loose eyelids inhibits their ability to see, and if the breed isn't otherwise special enough they'll _add_ loose skin or over-angulated hindquarters and make up bullsh*t excuses for it. And while they're making all of these physical adjustments they will completely ignore temperament and ability as they go merrily along physically destroying the breed. Breeds that are supposed to be strong and courageous become whimpering, anxious messes. Breeds that are supposed to be able to herd will take one look at a cow and run in the other direction. Not to mention the closed stud books with far too few founding dogs (as low as 6 or 7) , line (in) breeding, and popular sire effects leading to genetic bottlenecks where only a few males sire the entire next generation of a breed which can lead to the loss of genes necessary for life or introduce deadly genes into almost the entirety of the breed. Like DCM in Dobermans or cancer in Golden Retrievers, or high uric acid (HUA) in Dalmatians which actually completely lost the gene for normal uric acid levels. The HUA gene is _recessive._ All LUA Dalmatians have one single pointer far back in their pedigree, and for that reason are still not recognized as Dalmatians by many KC's, even though they are completely indistinguishable from 'pure' Dalmatians, and where they are accepted, they are often looked down upon by most breeders and many judges for being 'impure'. The only difference is that the LUA Dalmatians won't die painfully from bladder stones. This is why anyone with a brain doesn't want their currently unrecognized breed to be picked up by any KC.

    I'm worried about a tough breed like this ending up in shelters. Because if the breed becomes popular, at least in the States, that is what will happen. I'm worried for the dog once that happens because people need to be specially trained to handle them.

    • @whoopsydaisy6389
      @whoopsydaisy6389 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Agreed. I'd be fine if they remain unobtainable in the states because people here are horribly irresponsible. Not only are the shelters overrun with bully breeds, but people adopted Huskies like mad during Game of Thrones then dumped them in shelters once they realized how much work and attention they require. There are so many in shelters its unreal. Many of them have gone kennel crazy and will likely never find homes as a result. It's heartbreaking.

    • @actionjksn
      @actionjksn 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      The biggest danger this breed faces in the United States is definitely not unqualified owners. There is a much more sinister threat that these dogs would face in the United States. And it is called the AKC, American Kennel Club. They will make sure it's working ability and lifespan are bred out with great determination. But it will be very impressive while they are prancing around in front of judges with it at the dog shows.

    Was raised with Dobie's. As an adult only ever had were Doberman's. Abby our current Dobie girl is a beautiful. She of course has all the Dobie attributes. But she's also very loving and a happy go lucky type of dog. My wife and I live on our 207 acre ranch. And we always know when someone is driving up our driveway...before we can see the car. Abby even take pride in looking over and protecting our live stock. There's a wealth of excellent guard dogs. What attracts me to DObie's, is there looks. I think they're absolutely beautiful, intelligent, loyal and loving. Most of my Dobie's have lived at least 10 years or older. Charlie was prior to Abby, lived till 15. Use a excellent and responsible breeder. Then provide for the dog properly. Abby, doesn't get kibble from a store. We cook her dinner fresh every night. She will get a pound of raw chop meat and some other stuff added...for some carbs (sweet potato), fats(cheese). She also gets a daily doggy vitamin. Some nights, it's chicken (cooked). Tonight she had fresh goat meat. In the morning, Abby, gets 3 scrambled eggs. Now, this method can be expense. But we also, raise a lot of animals to be processed...i.e., cows, goats, chickens and some times pigs.

    Good luck to Ragga it is nice to see a new working breed in the UK. Would like to see how they would pan out as a police dog. Given the genetics it would seem innate tracking along with controllability would be natural traits.

    I've seen one of these in my neighbourhood and it looked magnificent. Really tall and strong looking. However, they have a look like they could kill with those eyes and have a bark to back it up. If you're looking for a good guard dog this is the one. Absolutely Magnificent dogs.

      @@davidsylvester2167 my indian mastiff weighs around 200 pounds and is 12 years old.I have seen primitive giant breeds like alabai survive for 14 years in a healthy environment if they are not used for dogfights. Sometimes It actually depends upon the specimen too rather than the breed itself because i have seen droolier versions indian mastiffs hardly make it past 10 years.

      Hasn't been inbred as much as other breeds. Give it a couple decades of breeding within a closed studbook and that lifespan will be down to "normal" for pedigree breeds

    Thank you for the disclaimers that you put in this video about protection training and ownership of large, advanced dogs. ❤️
    This is a breed I've been interested in for a long while, mostly because of the health issues present in Dobermans and Rottweilers. I really hope that anyone who gets into breeding these dogs are dedicated to health and stable temperament, as well as their natural guarding instincts. I would hate to see these dogs watered down, and I would hate to see them go down the same path as many other popular breeds.

    Now this is a guardian for sure. She's is absolutely massive for a 12 month of female, amazingly stunning. you can see that they need a lot of work from a very experienced handler. To me it seems like a pincher version of a ovcharka. A handful no matter who you are but also well worth the effort
