i like to IMAGINE that the reason they're so quiet is that they silently started coming up with ways to tackle the issue, and they're just waiting until they have a proper solution to announce anything

Valve absolutely knows about fixtf2, the VA are supportive of us, the staff were trying to NOT look at a scout cosplayer who showed up to their office. They know. And yet they still are silent!

Something tells me they DO know, but are under orders to not acknowledge it since they are highly occupied at the moment.
For those who don't believe #FixTF2 will do anything, even of nothing changes, at the very least it'll show other games w/ an economy like TF2's that Valve will not care about them, and that players should not put money into them.

You shouldn't be discouraged from supporting the movement, even if you are new to the game yourself. The whole point of the movement is to get everyone involved and scream at Valve for as long as it takes, with as many voices as everyone can muster up. The fact the petition broke 300k is already mind boggling enough.
This video is also great as a PSA to those who are being deceived by impersonators as well by bringing up reliable community figureheads to follow on the news of this protest as well. Though admittedly, I feel like putting them in the video description as well wouldn't have hurt.
Overall great video. Keep fighting the good fight.

My only hope at this point for tf2 is that whatever bot mitigations valve may (or not) be prepping for deadlock will be rolled out for tf2 as well.
Valve with it's massive piles of money and workers should at the very VERY least, prevent the bots from taking over this game. It's been around 5 maybe 6 years since the bots took over and we've received what I would call "minor" patches that have only caused a greater divide amongst the community. I wish this hashtag could do something but like all the prior movements it'll sadly fall on deaf ears.

The bot problem is something that valve is DEFINITELY aware about, especially since the problem also spreads to counter strike, and eventually will spread to other VAC games.
I hope not but thankfully now the csgo community is teaming up with the #fixtf2 movement!!
The reality is that this is a hard problem to solve, valve has total control of the servers and the infrastructure, but absolutely no control over who plays the game. I'm honestly afraid that this will backfire and valve will end up making the game pay to play, segreate the player base into "premiums" and f2ps, or slap EAC or other obnoxious anti cheats.
There’s way to do this, the problem is that it’s time consuming and expensive. They have the time and money, but can’t allocate their resources properly and that is a bad business practice.
Apparently the problem wasn’t really that bad until they added the “competitive and casual matchmaking system” in the Jungle Inferno update. It seems that is actually the biggest cause of the bot outbreak.
So if they just went back to that older system, it wouldn’t be a perfect solution, but the bots would probably go back to being a mere nuisance rather than allowing for the outright criminal activity we see now. It would just require Valve to admit they made a mistake, and that might be the impossible task they are dealing with right now.
@@foxeye245 I don't think that's a solution, bots would be even worse since you could join any valve server any time and harass a specific user. Quickplay was just a convenient way to join public servers. Imagine if uncletopia didn't have moderation, that's how bad it'd be.
@@wekasuwi I wouldn't be so sure, every other anti cheat software out there that's more effective than VAC is way more intrusive and privacy-violating. Other non anticheat based solutions require heavily modifying the game source code and are yet to be proven functional, the least they want to do is introduce big sweeping changes and have them not be so effective, like what happened with cs go and the overwatch system. I'm hoping that they come up with a clever solution that I'm not thinking of, but my guess is that the reason they're not responding like they did back then is that they couldn't come up with something that would work.

tf2 is a beast of a game
Idle bots are trash and I want to beat cheating hosters with a tire iron, but there are a lot of inventory bank bots that are integral to the TF2 trade economy with bulk trading keys and refined that actually contribute to the community.
It's in Valve's best interest to not respond at all, just think about it.
technically, nothing right now works for them. saying nothing means that their reputation will decline as it shows they don't care. saying something but not taking decisive action would produce further backlash. and fixing the game is something they dont want to do, for some reason

The lack of communication from Valve in general and their whole "always new and innovative ways" won't matter much if their previous games become rotting corpses with disgruntled communities.

High tier trading definitely not. Most of those trades happen on The Vatican. Low tier trades are people who just want to buy a cheap cosmetic quick and so bots are the easiest for most people

I don't get Valve... they continue to update L4D2 wich is a single purchase game.. but TF2 with micro-transactions... beside some "texture fix" or a third party made update... nothing.
What update for l4d2 are you talking about? The Last Stand? That was a complete community update where they approached Valve since they wanted to fix things. TF2s community had so many problems with community lead updates that Valve probably won't do that again for many many years
I'm even more angry at valve after watching this but maybe that's a good thing
What I don't get is that every company wants good PR but that's the one thing they can't just buy (epic has tried). Valve used to be very highly regarded in the pc community and its such a minimal investment to just get like 10 guys to do the treadmill work for them. Why are you they throwing away their rare highly respected position for 5-10 meager dev salaries?
Because Valve doesn't work that way. People choose their own projects to work on when they want to. TF2 is old and why work on that with just banning constant cheaters when you can work on VR or Dota 2/CS2.

Which is pathetic considering they are one of the most influential company in the gaming sphere for their legacy and Steam.
What they did last time wasn't a fix, it was just a small band aid to temporarily pacify the bots and the community.
Hell, I don't care if the source code was leaked, REMAKE the game if you have to, you have the resources dammit!
Why does ValvE not just respond and give us the reason why they aren't doing anything about TF2 bot crisis ?

Because there is no simple solution. Valve has already acknowledged that it's happening. The point is what are they going to do and the best thing to do is wait and see.
Honestly with fixtf2 it shows how much valve doesn’t care about tf2, especially since it’s been used in illegal ways and valve hasn’t done anything for years means they could be sued for supposedly supporting it. And not only have they shown neglect mostly for tf2, but apparently CS2 is encountering the exact same problem with bots and cheaters … for a company that is willing to just say “oh there’s things planned, we hear you” or muting f2ps so the bots can’t spam inappropriate things in chat just to get the media off their back. Now there’s all this and it seems like they don’t care … and they are apparently working on a game called deadlock, despite with everything going on, their reputation is going down the drain and the knowledge that they won’t maintain any of their *OTHER* games shows they shouldn’t be making a new one. And I wouldn’t be surprised if deadlock gets swarmed within the first seconds of dropping. Valve seriously needs to get off their butts and do something about this bot crisis, for our sake and for their own. #fixtf2
Valves neglect has always been a thing. It sounds like you just woke up to this. But TF2 is 17 years old. Very few games even make it to that age and have a very active community. Expecting a company that is making the cutting edge of gaming as a whole to support a 17 year old game is cope. Just play community and move on

And plus fixtf2 is also a kind of principle thing, if valve is still gonna milk money out of tf2 they should at least be responsible for the game itself
