That "girl" is Courtney Cox and this was one of her first acting jobs. She was hired for the video!
That was a bit before 'Friends'. I had heard that this video jump started her career 😁❤️
@@sueny2043Alex Keaton's girlfriend.
@shanegooding4839 this is what got her the job. I'm their age
@@andreadeamon6419She has was on a few other early movies as a young teenager...
Ever see the Girl from Hang on Sloopy? Mmmmmmm
Bruce Springsteen "I'M ON FIRE"
Yes
His best song.
It's truly the definition of 🔥
My best video, so hot!
Absolutely. The fact that it wasn't on his first greatest hits album is just mind-boggling to me. They may as well have not put Born in the U.S.A. on the album.
Yes, Bruce did write and sing Born in the USA. But, unless you read the lyrics, you won't realize that it's a Bob Dylan type protest song.
Anti American song if u listen
Love it awesome song 😃🤘🤘🤘
Not anti-American song. A song critical of how our soldiers have been treated in this country, especially Vietnam vets.
Kind of ironic, given his current political views. It's amazing to me what has happened to Rebel rockers who were against the government in the 60s. Now it's bend the knee no matter what. Ideology rules
He's a liberal nut.. but I used to love the energy.
I would listen to Born in the U.S.A. with lyrics because it's not about how good being American is. It's about how it ignores returning veterans (specifically Vietnam vets).
Rough life being a vet returning from slaughtering villagers in Vietnam I guess
His acoustic version is deep and dark...no flag waving or fist pumping on the acoustic version.
It's in a long lineage of songs that critique America that were taken completely the wrong way by the Hoo-Ra patriot crowd, a well-known example being Woodie Guthrie's original This Land is Your Land - the latter verses of which, usually ignored today, would make a red-blooded capitalist's blood run cold, as it clearly states that he doesn't respect their so-called property rights - when he says this land belongs to you and me, he means it literally
@@xmathmanxrough life being completely ignorant, I guess.
@@hopeh2609 romanticising war is disgusting, soldiers are there to kill people, mainly civilians, it is not something to admire
@10:25 Before Courteney Cox achieved fame from starring in Friends, she appeared as this starry eyed fan in this 1984 video.
She also was in Family Ties soon after her appearance in this video, She stated in a interview that Bruce pulling her on stage was not planned. Whether or not it was still great to see this again.
@@mandalynn4571 Family Ties was 3 year after the video. before Family Ties she did Misfits of Science as one of the main cast, had roles in 3 Movies, 4 TV Films, and guest roles in Love Boat and Murder, She Wrote
were buce & courtney 'friends'?
BP - Have you seen the movie/heard the song, “Born in East LA”? It’s a parody of this song with a movie about a Mexican American who gets deported because he doesn’t have his ID with him, and his comedic struggles to get back into the US. The border definitely wasn’t open then. lol You will LAUGH! Check Marin stars in it.
@mandalynn4571 Even before she'd appeared on "Family Ties," she'd co-starred on a series called, "The Misfits Of Science"
He did sing 'Born in the U.S.A.', but it's not a proudly patriotic song. It's about how the U.S. regularly fails to care for vets returning from war, specifically Vietnam, but I think we can all agree that hasn't changed.
As for this song, it's not really about sex. It's about being in a dark or meandering place in life, not knowing what you need to do next or feeling trapped, but finding solace in a loved one and saying that's enough. They are each other's light even though things seem difficult, so they don't mind dancing(living) together, even if it's dark.
This is a song I listen to often to get me through the day and give me hope that maybe tomorrow is worth it.
(Edited for grammar and punctuation)
Thanks for the observations. Makes sense. Music can get us through a hard time. Take care.
Tomorrow is always worth it
He's a blue-collar musician and one of the realest, hardest working musicians of my generation. He wrote simple but deep lyrics that were easily relatable.
He's known as The Boss good reason.
RIP Big Man Clarence Clemons.
Bruce has a song called "I'm On Fire" which is also "fire".
That girl was Courtney Cox, later of Friends
damn,,, she was young!!! Holy smokes
@@BlackPegasusRaps
Yeah, this before her acting career took off
Bruce has quite a large volume of songs and different moods and feeling . Another fun songs Pink Cadillac, Jersey Girl... His concerts were epic, see him 3 different days in a city series and you got 3 different concerts.
Bruce songs you should check out: "Thunder Road," "Born to Run," "Jungleland," "Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out," "Spirit in the Night," "E Street Shuffle," "Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)," "Kitty's Back," "Land of Hopes and Dreams," "Wrecking Ball," "The Rising," "Mary's Place," Sherry Darling," and "Glory Days."
@samfisher6606. • Don't forget my favorite song: "BADLANDS!"
Definitely check out his early work from the seventies.
Definitely Badlands. Sammy Hagar went to his concert and rocking out to Badlands. It’s a great song.
The Nebraska album is dark but brilliant.
Rosalita is one of my favorites of his live performances
When Obama met Springsteen, he said "I'm the President, but you're The Boss"
True...😁
😂
They are friends now. Do podcasts and wrote a book together
Alfonso says he got the inspiration for the Carlton dance from Springsteen.
Glad he caught it
but carlton didn’t even start it which upsets me when people think that
who is Alfonso?
@@saverioc2929 You could have looked it up yourself. Alfonso Ribeiro played Carlton on the TV show Fresh Prince Of Bel Air.
after 911 - the boss made an incredible album - The Rising. The album has an emotional arc and needs to be heard from the beginning to the end. He spoke with people who lost their loves.... Some even allowed Bruce to hear the last goodbyes left on their answering machine - that fateful day.
Springsteen created a gift for a grieving nation & families. He made it with great compassion & heart.
Talent and ability does not get old; Bruce is a truly gifted singer and songwriter. He’s a force of nature, as those of us who have been privileged to attend a concert by him and the E Street Band can attest to. He’s not bald, just graying now. I enjoyed the tight jeans by the way, then and now.
Tight pants definitely the early 80's lol😊 fun song in the clubs, dance floor always got crowded 😅
Remember he was also part of USA FOR AFRICA We are the World song.
Yessssssss epic song??
He was, along with a lot of other great musicians of that time:
Steve Perry
Kenny Rogers
Lionel Richie
Stevie Wonder
Micheal Jackson
Willie Nelson
Daryl Hall
Cyndi Lauper
Huey Lewis
Kim Carnes
Dionne Warwick
Ray Charles and so many others
He was one of my favorites on that video. He was so cute and sweet!
@@karlsmith2570 I love watching people react to that song, but boy does it make me feel old when they don't recognize half the people! More of the featured singers were Billy Joel, Paul Simon, Ray Charles, Diana Ross, Al Jerreau, Kim Carnes, James Ingram, Tina Turner and Bob Dylan (apologies to anyone I forgot!). Harry Bellafonte was part of the chorus and during a break the whole group sang the Banana Boat Song in his honor!
"Born in the USA" is anything but a love song to the USA, isn't it?
The all-time Springsteen song is “Born to Run”.
Bruce Springsteen has his hair he is still plays concerts he’s 74 years old and sounds great he’s called the boss he’s awesome we saw him in concert and Jon Bonjovi.
One day at work my coworker after getting instructions from our manager, turned to me and said "The only boss i listen to is Springstein." That cracked me up bigtime.
Bruce is The Boss! An absolute legend! Had the privilege of seeing him live in Amsterdam last year. The show was great! 73 years old and performing for 3 hours straight. Definitely check out My Hometown, Born To Run, Streets Of Philadelphia and Glory Days.
Bruce Springsteen put on epic concerts. The shortest one I ever saw was 3 hours. If you had a favorite song you were bound to hear it at some point during the show. People all yelling Bruuuuuce sounded like boos lol
if you were born on a US military base, that was US territory, so you were born in the USA, and that song is actually very critical of US policy
"BORRRRRN ON AN AIR FORCE BASE..."
Yeah. That works!
The girl he pulls up and dances with on stage is Courtney Cox from the TV show FRIENDS. I can't believe you didn't catch that.
They say he keeps going in concert for hours and very high energy. Concerts like 4 hours. And more
Been to several. Yes no intermissions just all music for 3-4hrs! Even in his 70’s he has amazing energy level and still pulls people on stage.
Saw him twice this year. In Phoenix and San Francisco. No opening act. It was about 3 hours. Great concert to go to.
@cindyluis4054 ,
In his younger days, Bruce's shows included an intermission. Of course, he was a lot more active during his shows back then. He still plays with more passion than most anyone else, but in his younger days he was all over the stage.
He stopped doing intermissions when he got the E Street Band back together for the Reunion Tour in 1999.
Saw him in the 80s. Fire!🔥
Yeah, Bruce Springsteen, known as " the Boss", was a sex symbol superstar back in the 80s and 90s. The girl he brought up on stage to dance with him at the end is a very young Courtney Cox from "Friends", way before she became famous in her own right.
You definitely need to check out some more Bruce Springsteen. He’s in my top 5 favorite artists of all time. This song is very light-hearted but he also known for his serious songs. He was/is the voice of the blue collar America. Here are some tracks: The Ghost of Tom Joad ; Downbound Train ; The River ; The Streets of Philadelphia ; Youngstown … to name a few.
Downbound Train is my favorite of his. So powerfully evocative
Bruce wrapped this iconic tour totally exhausted, and the next day got a call to come to a special Collaboration with other artists, for a song for World Hunger...this is how appeared in "We are The World"...USA for Africa.
My 3 favorite sax players are Big Clarence Clemmons, Alto Reed & Blue Lou Marini!
We Military Brats were born everywhere. However, as long as we were born on base...we were born in the USA. I was born at Tripler Army Hospital before Hawaii was a state.
My husband was hospital commander of Tripler in the late 90s. It’s still pink!
@@NancyTodd yes Crippler is still pepto pink
His sax player "clarence" was incredible in how own right.
And that was the unknown Courtney Cox (before Friends) dancing with Bruce at the end of this 1984 music video, along with the famous Clarence Clemons on the Tenor Sax. This song will be timeless...
Bruce is an American Icon❤
He was indeed the Boss and wrote primarily for blue collor working folks and to pay respects to his home roots. He was from Freehold, NJ where I lived for many years and was privileged to see him in person around town, at the Stone Pony and most places down the Jersey shore. Such talent in that area of Jersey to be sure and he is still going strong and is NOT bald. BTW, that was Courtney Cox before Friends dancing with him and which became a stepping stone for her to get an audition. Bruce has won multiple Grammy Awards, an Academy Award, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the Kenedy Center Honors, the Golden Globe Award, the Juno Award, Tony Award, Peoples Choice Award, MTV Awards, just to mention a few. He is a worldwide phenomenon.
Clarence Clemons on sax and the short -haired version of the gorgeous Courtney Cox! LOL!!
My husband and I went to see Bruce concert about a month ago. He's still on fire. Amazing.
Springsteen's Barcelona concert in 2003 (right after The Rising released) shows him at his absolute performing best. In his 50's already when recorded, he had more energy than performers less than half his age. Had an entire arena on their feet the entire time, singing every lyric. The whole concert video is here on TH-cam.
I’ve seen Bruce 20 times. Whenever he sings Dancing in the Dark - he pulls a woman on stage to dance with him - even his mother!
one of my favorites by Bruce Springsteen ! 🔥🔥🔥
Oh and ‘secret garden’ ❤❤❤ let’s see your reaction to this one!! For your wife and baby ❤🕊❤
He has a few songs I like but my absolute favorite is Streets of Philadelphia!
Bruce gave patti Smith BECAUSE THE NIGHT because he could not do anything with it and look where she took it!! he performed it with her and BONO at some event. gave me chills
Everybody did the Carlton in the 80’s. It was considered punk/new wave then … if you want to see the “BOSS” in his heyday, check out Bruce Springsteen and the e street band LIVE in NY. Or…Bruce Springsteen live with Tom Morello …Ghost of Tom Joad.
Saw them in concert 4 times throughout the decades. Gets better each time. 3 hour sets. Miss Clarence… he was big teddy bear. ❤
Definitely 1980’s! I remember the first time hearing it! Totally awesome!! He was easy on the eyes too!!
Yep! That was a popular dance during that time!!!
he actually wrote this song while battling writters' block. He wrote this song as a process to writing a new song
He’s our pride & joy New York New York, love love him.
Born to run, the River 😊! Saw him live 30 years ago and last year, the whole band is still very passionate!
🎶Born on an AFB! Born on an AFB! I was Born on an AFB! 🎵Let’s go! 😊
Bruce is great. So many blue collar anthems. This is a great rabbit hole dive into. I'm on Fire, Hungry Heart, My Hometown, Born in the USA, all great songs, and so many more.
The girl he brought on stage is Courtney cox from friends
Courtney Cox always mentioned this in interviews (but skipped completely mentioning her role in a short-lived series "Misfits of Science"). One of my favourite Springsteen songs.
Oh no, now you HAVE TO hear the 80’s one hit wonder by Jermaine Stewart “We don’t have take our clothes off” 😂🤣😂
“we can dance and party all night”
@@NOLAgenX As soon as he said that line I sang the whole chorus in my head 😂🤣😂
@@NativeNYerChicHK I actually thought that’s where he was going! 😊
@@NOLAgenX “…and drink some cherry wine, oh oh” 🎶
@@NativeNYerChicHKSame, lol. Thought he was going to too 😂
I remember when this premiered on MTV when all they showed nothing but music videos !! Nothin like THE BOSS !
You crack me up with your reaction 😂😂, love it
You should listen to Tenth Avenue Freeze Out.. It's about how he got his 1st contract & when the BIG Man (Clarence Clemens) joined his band.. Greatvsong.
You gotta hear..We are the world.. if u havent heard already..Bruce is in there OMG 😧😳😳😳 his voice witg stevie wonder ...O. M. G
Sorry, but Bruce sounded injured in that video. I was a huge MTV and Bruce fan at the time and still thought his part was painful.
@@tracienielson7183 ya think so....I thought he sounded epic!! If he was injured 🤕 very sad ..but they will never make music like this again I'll be 52 on Sunday I grew up in 80s and 90s myself..if I could go back in time I would in a heartbeat 💓
@@michelleussia5777 I was born in '61. The music of the 60s-80s was amazing. I just thought Bruce sounded terrible in that performance.
One of the best concerts I've ever been too, love the boss....
Me too saw him at Leeds in the 80s amazing performance
@@smarsh7727 I saw him in Toronto in the 80's as well. A fantastic show...
Courtney Cox from Friends is the girl dancing with him. He has so much energy on stage his concerts would last for about 4 hours. Yeah he would always dress in jeans and a comfy shirt. You definitely need to dig deeper into his music there's so many great songs you'll enjoy them.
The was my wife's first concert. Had to live up to it for the next 40 years.
My husband did me the same favor…we’ve seen him 3 times…I’ve never got over it. Your wife & I are lucky women.
That dance is how we ALL danced to this type of music in the early 80’s! That’s one reason the Carlton made us all so happy! And short hair was the thing….a bit of punk influence, with lots of hairspray.
That girl is Courtney Cox, from the TV series Friends
Filmed at my local arena, but different day from the one I went! On my night he played 4 1/2 hours with no warmup band and only a short break! Google says the show was shorter, but I was there and can confirm how long it was!
Finally!!! Nobody ever remembers where the carlton came from! I remember wishing i was Courtney Cox lol
I still have that same shirt Courtney so wearing!
I didn't get into Bruce Springsteen much when I was young but I love this song and video. The girl is Courtney Cox from "Friends" and she was in the "Scream" movies.
On the sexiness scale from 1-10, Bruce hits an 11.
yes Bruck Springsteen is the one that sings born in USA
I love his song, born to run from 1975❤❤
He wrote about what was going on from our point of view!❤️
That's a young Courtney Cox who he called up on stage in the video. Whenever he plays this song in concerts, they extend the end of it and women come up on stage to dance with him. It's fun. This song isn't really typical of his music. He has a LOT of great songs! I would recommend: Jungleland, Thunder Road, Born To Run, Rosalita, Badlands, Tenth Avenue Freeze Out, Prove It All Night, The River, 4th of July Asbury Park (Sandy), Blinded By the Light, For You, Adam Raised a Cain, Hungry Heart, Point Blank, Cadillac Ranch, Growin' Up, Spirit In the Night, Incident on 57th Street, Meeting Across the River, and so so many more, but that's a good start. He's The Boss! He's incredible in concert. He brings so much energy to his live performances, but I would recommend listening to the studio versions the first time your hear these songs because sometimes, he sings them a little different live.
Dude, that Shorty he pulled up was Courtney Cox
Bruce is ALWAYS highly energetic at his concerts- even though they are 3-4 hours long. He keeps the audience on their feet and dancing, too. They say usually in most concerts, the band goes home tired. When you go to a Springsteen show, the audience goes home tired. 😀 I know you don’t take requests, but you would be doing yourself a huge favor to react to Born to Run (Official Video). It has a compilation of all the antics and energy they bring to the stage, as well as showing how much fun they are having. And there is an awesome sax solo by The Big Man, Clarence Clemons- RIP- that is amazing. ❤❤❤🎷🤘🏼🤘🏼
Courtney Coxs' first acting job. Love Bruce!!!!
I saw him live in the 80s in Chicago - it was a great concert!
The saxophone player is Clarence. I met him before. Very nice
Omg saw him live twice with floor seats in 1st 10 rows. Incredible!!!!!
The short hair girl is Courtney Cox from the show 'Friends
Saw him on Broadway - what an amazing show!
A very young Springsteen. Courtney Cox played Monica on Friends.
BP, he’s known for 3-4 hour concerts. Check out live versions of “Born to Run”, “Rosalina”, “Thunder Road”, “Jungleland”, “Sandy (4th of July)” “Lost in the Flood”, “Zero and Blind Terry”, “Meeting Across the River”, “Point Blank”, “Independence Day”, “Blinded by the Light”, “Incident on 57th Street”, “Night” and many more.
Love the Boss. Human Touch and Pink Cadillac are 2 more of my favorites by Bruce
The song was written in one night and it refers to having writers block. This gun for hire means that he was a hire by the music company to write an album .
So that night a could go to sleep and no words or music came to his head, until he put the radio and started dancing in the dark of his room.
John Legend does this song , just him and a Grand Piano...Bruce said he never imagined it as a Gershwin tune, and he said it's one of his favorite covers. ❤
Glory days is another banger by him. Ive seen him live 3 times.
I'm on fire, and Tunnel of love are two greats by Bruce.
One of the best songs. He had a lot them!
U.S. military bases are on sovern U.S. soil. so you were "BORN I N THE U.S.A. !!
JUST SING IT!!
I hear this and I am immediately transferred by to that apartment I had in college and MTV played this in hot rotation.
Simply the best!!!!❤❤❤❤
It's so cute How you're trying to explain to us What the song means about his gun being for hire? LOL. You do realize most of us in our late teens when this song was out and we knew exactly what he was talking about...
He actually looks pretty darn good for 74 too!
Both to Run life is pure 🔥🔥
That young girl would become the star of Friends, Courtney Cox.
"Glory Days" is a great track, from the same album too
Yay!!! Going to see his concert in Denmark in a few months ❤❤
In "We Are Ithe World", he sings back and forth with Stevie Wonder. It's amazing!!! You should definitely check it out
Love this song..I still love to play it very loud in my car (just stream it rather than play it off a cassette) lol. It came out when I was in high school in the 80s. This song is off the Born in the USA lp/cassette…whole CD is great. He has a huge catalog and a large following for decades. Check him out. My favorite song is the River.
The sax is played by the late, great Clarence Clemons. Clarence released a single titled "You're a Friend of Mine", featuring Jackson Browne. It's worth a listen.
I think the bald guy you're thinking of is Bruce Willis.
When are you going to do a reaction to The Band and The Staples, The Weight? ❤❤❤ And if ever there's been a song you need to just let play through, it's this one!
