Hey Everyone. Unfortunately, I recorded this just before the update and chickens have been changed. Instead of 120k income from eggs with 100 chickens, it would now be 56k

Chickens are worthless on console after update. Price dropped and now you need a fork lift to load them. Also cant rotate chickens because there is no way to transport them. Good video
I absolutely despise loading pallets in this game. I even drive a forklift irl at my job but trying to run one in this game is so time consuming. That and the skids sometime decide to thanos snap you into the sky. Anyhow I really hope an approved “auto loading” mod comes through soon.
@@StrikerV3I’m like that with loading logs, I too drive a forklift at work and don’t really have too much issue with the pallets.
Though I am glad I’m on PC now with auto loading mods.
Here in the northeast US we call them Rhode Island Reds and the speckled Plymouth Rocks. Both very New England names so maybe that's only here in my region but my family raised both of those breeds growing up so I love to see them in game. Thanks again for the great information!
Yeah those are the universal names. also the white ones are white leghorns.

Hey! I'm trying to come up with the right number of chickens for rotation within the pen. Would it be 40 or 60 chicks to start with for large coop? What you recon? Cheers!
How do you move animals between different pens to rotate them?
You can find trailers under animal transport. Open and back them up to the "paw" symbol and you'll get a prompt to load or unload them. I think Scroft forgot you can't transport chickens, however.

@@yairiny without mods there's no way to transfer chickens currently either
You mention about rotating chickens between pens, how is this done? There doesnt seem to be an option to move them.
Great idean to have the open pasture and rotate them. How do you rotate the chickens? How do you move them?
This seems very complicated. Wouldn't it be easier and take less space to start with a large pen with 45 chickens let them breed and collect eggs till they fill up the pen then sell 90 chickens 25% of your stock every other month when they breed to make room for 90 more chicks. If you set up a second coop you could sell 90 chickens every month and have a constant flow of cash coming in and be in over your head with egg work.
Close to what I do. I just sell 60 every month

Do they ever stop producing eggs?
Unfortunately this video is way out of date. Food requirements, for these coops at least, are now much more expensive and require balancing to achieve high health and productivity results, not to mention lots of running around since storage is small and consumption is high. Think I’ll stick to greenhouses and have a small simple coop for aesthetics.
Hey, Robin. This was made right after release. There have been many updates since then. I could update the video, but many players now have mods that change so much. It was helpful when it was released, but I agree it's outdated now. Thanks for watching

How do you rotate chickens since they don't have a trailer?
I don't know of a way in the base game but I'm pretty sure I saw an animal hauling trailer mod that hauls chickens. Hope this helps! Wish you could just transfer them in the animal managing tab

Is this before or after 1.2 update?
It looks like pre-update normal econ, where the usual "130% sell point" was about 3500.

Hmm... I must be missing something. For a full little coop (29 hens and a rooster) I seem to be getting around a 100 eggs a day (2day per month). The current price is 925£ for 1000 L of eggs.
So around 92£ a day for selling the eggs.
Having said this, they eat 125 L of wheat every day too, which costs me 175£ ! How do you make a profit ?
Stack eggs and sell at highest price. Thats what I do for wool as well. I can manage to collect at least 40 pallets of eggs amd sell at high price.
When did you actually make this video? Chickens are a pian now. Just curious. Especially since you need yo use a forklift now. Also eggs are no longer 5k.. they are around 3k
Yes lol before the latest update I was taking a trailer load of eggs to sell point 3 to for times a year
@@Chilli69Palmer I was about to buy 5 more chicken coops. Good thing I didnt. Maybe when we get autoload trailer for console I'll get back into it.

Before 1.2 update I used roosters as a meat breed, 1200l of wheat over 10months, to which they were generally worth North of £50.
Edit: Rooster now cap at £20 so are just for show ☹
