The main aim of the platform is to precipitate debate on why teeth are crooked. Most people are not aware that (in most cases) the dental profession has little or no idea why the teeth are crooked, or for that matter why children need major surgery. Clearly there are genetic issues, however the science is clear, the weight of quality research papers, in respected peer reviewed journals, show that our modern lifestyle is a more important factor and most importantly we can do something about this.
This is especially important as sleep apnoea, TMD, forward head posture and a most otolaryngology problems are implicated as other symptoms of the same underlying problem.

Try nose plasters combined with mouth tape. That will learn you to breathe through your nose at night you will only need it for a couple months maximum and the nose plasters are actually useful to have if you have a cold or whatver they help a lot by opening the nose. Some sporters even use them to get more oxygen in through the nose a famous example is neymar used to use them.

I've been doing mewing for the last 3,5 years, more aware than before.
My face was pretty good structured according to Mike's examples, I've got plenty of space in my mouth, my whole life my teeth have been having gaps in between, my nose is sharp and upwards. I've been breathing with nose as well before. Oh, I'm 41 years old, I'm Polish.
When I'd learnt about mewing it's got me so natural, so fast, it was just like screwing everything a bit stronger of what I used to do before.
I know, I could see myself and hear from many people knowing me well how my face has changed in few months only, I'm not teenager, so it didn't go that well of course, but I had, and still see differences.
So thanks a lot for sharing with us this simple and true knowledge!
I tell people about it very often, I know how helpful it can be, I can see clearly where a tongue is placed by each one, it's so obvious now, just like with many other aspects of our life, we literally have it on display all the time.
So I find myself a very good example of not only doing mewing but improving my face in my age.
Take my word as a reference for mewing in every way.
Thank you and all the best!
PS I don't chew gum, nothing like hard mewing either, just keeping my tongue on the roof, delicate suction and that's all. I use my tongue while eating more now, pressing the food against the roof of my mouth. Just classic mewing.. and it's enough! Just keep it doing all the time, at night, too!

    • @mindhunter8772
      @mindhunter8772 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I always thought mewing was incredibly difficult to practice. How did you a achieve this goal, especially at your age?

    • @wojciechlawnicki4464
      @wojciechlawnicki4464 ปีที่แล้ว +15

@@mindhunter8772 Not at all, specially if one has conditions to it, like space for a tongue between the upper teeth. Of course the youth would have super fast results, their bones are still soft and it's easier to make structural changes.
I was lucky myself to have enough space for a tongue, I have 3,5cm between my upper 5es (excuse me), so I'm doing it easly, I breath naturally in and out (it's so nice) but I always have, I've had no difficulties with breathing whatsoever, just like many people complain about, I also had no tension in my jaws ever, all these typical issues people have I don't.
I was just very close to it the whole life, I even thought I shouldn't keep my tongue this way, so I was trying to loose it.
So, now I simply found out what to do with my tongue, that there is a place where it should be and it's the same place where I used to keep my tongue naturally thinking it was maybe wrong. Funny ha?
So it was for me easier that way, I was familiar with it, I rather kept my mouth close when not talking etc.
I'm pretty sure that most of our health issues we deal with nowadays come from not having a correct posture, tongue is one of that whole mechanism.
I recommend Esther Gokhale as a very good example, or extention of mewing, it's all one. So body posture, our spine, the way we walk, sit, lay, bend, etc. Everything is one, so by changing the habits people recover even in older age and get healthier!
So going back to your question, it's simply a matter of practice and making new habits.
Just like with everything else, if you haven't been holding you tongue on the roof of your mouth nor haven't you been breathing through your nose, it will probably take more time and effort to change that habit but I'm sure you will do this!
I was watching many films from Dr Mew and many other people, these young ones who shared many good tips about mewing just to get it right.
Truth is simple, always, lies are complicated.
So it is mewing, the true posture is very simple and easy, keep it that way, just relax.
Another person to recommend is Coco Hayashi, she's very good, I got to know her through this channel already later but she might be very helpful as well, she talks a lot about mewing and not only, she is very interesting to watch.
Just be in touch with this topic, I saw Mike giving some tips like keeping some object next to you to remember about it.
Be patient, don't worry if you don't get it immediately, it will come.
You can always write on a big page I'M DOING MEWING 24/7 with some photo of you doing mewing, so you see yourself like that all the time, keep it on your phone to see it each time you open it. Try these tricks and continue changing the habits.
It seems that Dr Mew is so much aware of how difficult it is to create this new habit because the mewing itself is not difficult, it's so natural, brings relief, but how to make people do this all the time, to stay in it, specially if it is nothing they have been doing in their lives. That's a challenge..
But I'm sure you will find it, just keep the tongue up all the way from the front to the far back of the roof, suck it gently, swallow and it's done, everything sticks but teeth. Now smile a bit like Mona Lisa and breath slowly, or as you like..!
I hope it will be helpful, all the best!

Constantly comparing themselves, pulling these faces all day, or just overdoing it. I say this from experience. I was constantly clenching my teeth, sucking my cheeks becoming unfulfilled with the results. I also believe these bad habits were the cause of mild Tmd I developed. I have eaten/shorten all of my teeth not knowing it for about 30 years, after which a new dentist informed me I have very bad teeth (first time in my life anybody told me that), but he was right. Due to grinding my teeth, there was low possibility to form a cavity, so i always thought im good, especially that I have worn braces for 3.5 years in my youth, byt nowadays, nothing is left from that treatment, people just took money and left me in shambles. One Doctor did some test how my mouth closes and what move it makes, using some weird facial apparatus, and then after sending me the results so that I could think what i want to do (surgery or some very new braces method from Japan) but the doctor stoper answering my calls and e-mails, like she vanished :(

I haven’t heard Mike bring up the significance of the role of emotions in survival and thriving of ancestors, connected to how the musculature and connective tissues contract under stress until consciously recognised and released through breath and movements like in yoga and Pilates. Current-day people and particularly Gen X and Baby Boomer adults tend to not know how to be aware of stress held in their bodies’ connective tissues, which restricts gliding of tissues and ease of movement of muscles, therefore restricting ROM (range of motion), and the thing with connective tissues which encase the muscles is tensions restrict bone development. I don’t believe it’s just to do with diet.

    • @koanzx1

Well imagine the people that you consider pretty but with amazing bone structure they would be even more attractive to you.
It’s not because you have good bone structure that you will be the most handsome, but if you have it means you have maximized your genetic potential.
I don’t like to rate people but imagine someone you would rate 3/10. With goof bone structure he would go to 5/10
Now another person you would rate 7/10. He has bad bone structure, if he had great bone structure you would probably rate him 8-9/10.
That’s why yes there is some part of genetics, but good bone structure = you did your part and maximized the beauty you could develop

And well, I feel great these days, been like 3-4 years, I could new better, some mouth breathing when I talk. But mostly nasal unless blocked nose.
Have been working out, so only getting better.
O and now I can get a full night of sleep from just 5-7 hours instead of sleeping 9-12. Although if around 5 for too often there will be a day where I sleep 10-12 because well 5 ain’t enough for full recovery XD just refreshing.
