    Dirty down rust is great only if you don't want to varnish the miniature. There is no varnish after trying many that leaves the rust effect looking the same it did when applied. Don't varnish though and then you need to be really careful to never get water on the model by accident as the dirty down being water based will reactivate and run.

      Yea noted. Thanks for sharing. Had a few ask me this. But as I only paint for display I never varnish. But again thanks for sharing. Always wondered what a varnish would do ✌🏼

    This is super inspiring to do something with this "meh" printed dreadnought I bought 1 yr ago on my mini painting journey. This is will be my 1st painted 40k model. It's chipped, beat up, but printed decently. I hope to give it the grimdark treatment that will make this machine look gorgeous as was intended. Thank you

    This video especially had me wondering how you might do the weathering on something that doesn't chip or rust at all. Like Eldar Wraithguard, or some flavor of Necron, I'd be super curious to see how you'd approach something like that!

      @@TheFeralPainter I'll second this suggestion!
      Sci-fi and fantasy settings are chock full of fictional super materials that are magically impervious to the kinds of real world damage that most weathering techniques try to replicate. Showing that a metal doesn't rust or that it self heals or whatever by just not doing those weathering steps on it just makes for a boring mini with no stories to tell. I suspect your take on the concept would be much more interesting!

    Amazing stuff mate, love it!
    I've been getting back into the hobby after over a decade of lugging my mostly badly/unpainted Warhammer around with me as I've moved around and these videos have really been helping!
    I've decided to paint all my old blue boys in this grimdark style and all my new stuff in shiny new red armour, telling a story of transition for myself as a painter.
    I'm trying to add battle damage appropriate to the xenos that they've fought and it's mostly Tyranids and Orks for me. Have you got any tips on adding acid damage and other such unique weapon damage types to a model?
    Thanks 🙂

    • @TheFeralPainter
      @TheFeralPainter  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi man!! Thanks for the very kind words. I am in the process of making these styles of blood acid etc. I’d love to see how to make bubble paint.
      Atm I use technical paints. And crackle paint, I always mix a little gloss in the paint too for blood.
      But it’s something I’m playing with. Including experimenting with glue x
      Again massive thanks x

    • @playerone9824
      @playerone9824 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheFeralPainter Of course, you deserve the credit! I don't think you smaller TH-camrs really understand how impactful your videos can be. Straight to the point, informative, but also humble which makes us noobies feel that we can actually achieve what you do so effortlessly 🙂
      If it helps, I found UHU Glue recently (yellow tube) and it (along with some very shiney gloss) is PERFECT for drool on my kid's Tyranid models.
      I feel like I need to very very carefully and selectively use heat to melt a model in very acute sections to give an acid damage effect, but this is tough on a miniature scale. Maybe some plastic glue left to melt and sag a section of armour might work? I'm going to do some experimenting, hehe.
      Thanks for the reply too, hope you have a good one 👍
