This point of view jumped out and screamed at me: when Geoffrey Hinton spoke of the LLMs knowing more than any one PERSON on Earth, compressing and relating and "seeing" the underlying commonalities that no human has yet seen because the human does not have all of that information or knowledge to process. Mind blown.❤🎉😊

Absolutely agree! The pace at which AI is unlocking insights in fields like biology and physics is nothing short of astonishing. It's like having a superpowered research assistant who never sleeps. The examples of AlphaFold and AlphaZero show that these AI models are not just processing data, but actually crafting new, innovative solutions and ideas. It’s thrilling to think about what the next big breakthrough might be!
It's really fun to think about how far this technology will take us in healthcare and the sciences, but in all of the hype of expectation, I think people are forgetting that this technology is going to see patterns where people really don't want patterns being seen, specifically in some of the symbolism at the core of Western Civilization (see the Magdala Stone for an example). Much of your civilization will be overturned before humanity is allowed full access to the benefits of AI, and you should all be thankful for that.

The human brain is a complex organ with various specialized regions, each responsible for different functions. Notably, the language centers, such as Broca's and Wernicke's areas, occupy a relatively small portion of the brain and consist of a specific set of neurons. Interestingly, the size and complexity of these language-related neural clusters might be comparable to the scale of current language models in artificial intelligence. On the other hand, the brain regions involved in mathematical processing are more extensive and involve a larger network of neurons and brain areas. This suggests that mathematical cognition requires more extensive neural resources compared to language processing.
Just as the human brain has specialized sections for specific tasks, artificial intelligence can also be designed modularly. In such systems, a central module could manage other specialized units, mirroring the integrated yet distinct functionalities of our brain. This modular approach in AI could potentially emulate the human brain's efficiency in handling diverse cognitive tasks, making the systems appear more human-like in their operations.

2 issues with AI - 1. junk in, junk out, where the data being fed into AI is false and 2. The programming of the AI is only as good as the humans programming it. Can we trust AI without having highly evolved abundance based thinking, rather than scarcity based thinking, being programmed into the AI...?
So far, from what I have seen, chat gpt is very rudimentary compared to a human brain in terms of any kind of flexible thinking. We can't even get a self driving care to deal with a construction zone on the road properly, yet we are talking about AI replacing human thought? I'm not buying it yet.

As far as I can follow AI just mixes and matches large data with preprogrammed algorithms into more but different structured data. There is no connection with the environment, no feelings, no empathy, no emotions, no awareness, no consciousness. Why they speak about things like intuition and creativity I don’t understand. In my view AI couldn’t be further away from in it. Creativity or Intuition doesn’t arise from knowledge, let alone data modeling. It’s kinda of the opposite, you have to me open and sensitive to connect with high states of being, not lower autistic deterministic cognitive calculations. This way of talking about machines is very weird to me.

In order to show creativity in a non-trivial field, comprehensive knowledge is indispensable. Without this, no meaningful new relationships can be established, which are the characteristics of creativity.
Sorry but RK has aged almost unrecognizably..He's free to take a zillion pills per day as he has said he does;but here he suggests there be no human trials at all before rollout?There is such a thing as taking too large risks with technology; fine in your own daily lives with tablets but for the entire public..?Does he believe in true informed consent?Just as there are anti-tech extremes, there is also the other extreme, and with all respect to RK in other cases, I'm sensing it here.
Prediction: people interested in money and their own ego's won't be part of the next wave of innovation. I'm not talking about Jeffrey btw, he seems humble and genuinely interested in the advancement of the human race.
This thing is better than 90-95% of humans already. why are we pretending it’s not. Why do 90-95% people put the themselves in the 5% of people when it comes to saying this isn’t smarter than “humans yet” look man it’s smarter than all of you. We’re just lucky to have a very SMALL minority of geniuses with their hands on the wheel still.
