    We ended up exchanging this model for the slimmer version th-cam.com/users/postUgkx0jZ_lGlDVJhDnmagEU8gn47cmfPNlLQU because it was too wide for the only door trim area that made sense to mount it on. However, we should have just noted the dimensions prior to purchasing. Otherwise, we love the doorbell. It works perfectly, and the video is very clear, even at night.

      This is guiding you to install a power over ETHERNET camera. Batteries are not involved. Battery cameras are a completely different product and aren’t as good. Here is the difference so you can understand : POE is greater than WiFi which is greater than Battery. That’s the hierarchy. POE > WiFi > battery. Battery will always give you the worst performance from ANY manufacture’s camera, not just Reolink.

    When ip cameras and poe doorbell are connected via nvr, they cant use their smart home features like google home integration. When a poe switch are use to connect the camera and doorbell, and set them up separately in reolink client, it allows the smart home features but no way can save the recording to the nvr even they are same LAN. How come nvr preventing the smart home features of IP cameras doorbell. Or they anyway that ip cameras setup separately but still saving the 24hr recording to nvr not relying on miscro sd storage.

    I have a switch on the same NETWORK as the NVR, but when I plug a camera up to it, it doesn't show up on my NVR client. My other 6 cameras I have hooked straight into the NVR show, and then I have an ethernet cable running to a switch that give it network/internet access, but the other switch I have in the office here is on the same network, but I try to plug it in and it doesn't automatically come up.

    Like your info. But can both methods be hooked up if all the hardware are in one room and the cameras are outside the house? I do not see the reason for a PoE switch when the NVR, PC, Monitor and router are right next to each other. Am I correct on that point?

    • @ReolinkCameras
      @ReolinkCameras  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, thanks for your questions. Yes, both methods work. PoE switch is a solution when your camera cannot be directly connected to the PoE NVR (for example, when they're too far from each other).

    I just dont understand why PoE system can't be much more simple form instead of requiring multiple devices and cables. All my security cameras are Reolink wifi version. I don't have experience with PoE system.
    I have been curious with PoE's. I don't really need NVR. Im interested because PoE cameras have better features than wifi or battery operated cameras.
    My router is in the living room, and wiring ethernet cable from outdoor through garage to living room is just pain in the butt for me.
    I thought of getting a wifi extender, leaving it in the garage, hooking up ethernet cables from the extender to under soffit above the garage. I thought that would be done deal 😅 watching this video confused me a bit. If I don't need NVR, can't I just use a wifi extender and connect cameras to it with ethernet cables, won't be enough to view and edit setting on Reolink app on smartphones? I don't know how it is supposed to work..

    • @amirkarim2307
      @amirkarim2307 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      POEs are essentially direct connections to your internet routers rather than depending on WiFi signal or extenders from a WiFi source to a remote place where your CCTV may be. The former provides minimal lag whilst the latter can have lag.
      NVRs also have large storage and can record 24/7, whereas the Reolink cameras can only accept up to 256GB which isn't 24/7, this can typically result in cloud based subscriptions but again there's lag in that because you'd be uploading to the cloud or pulling from the cloud.

    All my Reolink WiFi cameras have been set up on my house for a year, using cloud service and phone app. I bought the nvr and hooked it onto my laptop with hdmi cable. LAN cable is going from my router to the nvr. Powered on and nothing shows on my laptop. I tried installing the nvr on my phone app. It installs but does nothing. It isn’t even showing up on my network list to try and all that way. LAN cable is still plugged into the router. I’ve used every router port even. Nothing. What am I doing wrong? The 5 tiny pages of instructions just are wasted paper.
