Two things that would’ve made this watch better: if it had a black screen and it was solar charging. For now, a solar casioak with a mod case is a more durable, better looking, and still cheaper option.
Meanwhile, most of the Casio community complains about negative displays. Btw, the oak mod is very ugly, it turns a nice and respectable watch, into a cheap homage.
I love this. Where else can you get a digital watch with a lovely bracelet, great build quality and sapphire crystal? I like that it is awkward and jarring. I tend to like things like that, rather than the standard boring watch (of which there are millions). It's a nice throwback and I'll likely pick up a 35mm once I can try one on.
Unlike many other comments, I quite like it, looks cool! Wristcheck - I'm wearing a Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80. I do generally prefer automatic/mechanical watches, but like I said this digital version looks ok to me.
Don't take it too seriously its just a thing most youtubers say to make people click the video. If someone brings out a really good diver it's "the submariner killer" someone brings a really good rectangular watch it's "the cartier tank killer" 😂
As someone who was around when the LCD usurped the LED display for digital quartz watches I have to say I quite like the PRX digital. A retro modern take if you like. If I was in the market I'd consider it certainly, it has that classic 70's case and a well made bracelet that shouldn't act as a wrist hair mower and it has a sapphire crystal. It won't sink Casio who I'm a fan of though, they are different markets. On my wrist today is a Casio A168. Following a week of wearing mechanical watches it's a welcome change. Tomorrow I'll be wearing my G-Shock 5610and that means I'll be back to the hospital for more stuff. After that who knows what I'll have on my wrist. Many thanks for sharing, as always.
The PRX was an immediate icon at launch. Fortunately, it still is. Not many integrated designs have a lasting presence and a unique identity, but the PRX does. They should've stopped at 35mm. Tissot are milking their own lineup at this point. Which, I fear, might even affect the PRX's unique charm.
Absolutely right. The PRX digital looks like a rushed afterthought, with that far too small LCD module just thrown inside the standard PRX casing. What they should've done instead was reviving their 70s "Tissot Quarz" lineup, consisting of a Quarz Analog, a Quarz LED and a Quarz LCD. The bracelet is identical to the PRX, but the case is square with rounded edges, which would've fit the style of a digital LCD much better!
I'm currently wearing my 35mm Tissot PRX, blue dial, which I love. Thought I would check this out and I've got to say I love this one too. I may have to go shopping very soon.
I just ordered one to put on layaway and I looked at it today. I have been collecting, buying, selling and Repairing watches since I received my first watch which was a Breitling Cosmanaute 24 hour Navitimer Cosmanaute in 1967 plus serving on the board of my regional N.A.W.C.C. I really like the looks And quality appearaance( so far) of this watch! I'm "Enthused"!
I will def buy this heavily discounted, while drinking, in a couple years. Also, wrist check- I got a Titanium Seamaster NTTD for my 40th Bday & I’m loving it so much.
At first glance I was not impressed, but the more I look at them I kinda like them and kinda want one. Im not gonna rush out to get one but its something i may get eventually especially on a decent sale. As others have said theres a nice retro vibe to them that i appreciate, reminds me of something my grandpa couldve wore... im a 90s baby and some of my first watches were timex/casio digitals so this does appeal to me in an odd way. Im for sure among the target demo for such a watch, I like that they maintained the robust prx build as in solid bracelet and sapphire crystal etc. And i like the idea of a higher end digital watch... automatics basicslly ruined quatz for me but a digi watch fills a need/function to me. One of the reasons I've been in the market for a digi watch, is for the convenience factor of just slapping it on and not having to bother setting anything And i do like the higher end gshocks but they are vary busy dials with a super sporty look to them... which is cool but on the other hand theres something clean and classy about this prx digital... basically im saying imo these watches can be dressed up or down much easier then something like a gshock. There are a few cons in my books, firstly it wouldve been really nice to see Tissot put the extra effort in, dive into the vault and give us a modernized square prx digital, Its just such a cleaner look with the square digi display in a square case... depending on how this release does, id imagine that will be a version 2 revision... i think theres likely a market for both dial versions. I have not seen the lume in person but i cant help but think they shouldve used a more special/unique lume color to help it stand out on the market. And lastly I wouldve liked to see a blue dial in the line-up... a nice rich navy blue type color, the blue dials on the prx powermatics are so popular, I think a blue digital prx wouldve been really nice.
Is this the do it all watch I'm looking for (your tastes will certainly vary)? 100m of WR, dual time zone, stopwatch, timer, and alarm. Can work in a dressier situation if needed for the few times or year i need to dress up. I think ive found it.
Wrist check: Autodromo Group C digital watch in brushed grey steel with green accent. Another unusually pricy but premium digital watch with a retro vibe! I love the idea of the gold 35mm Tissot.
What am i wearing? On my left wrist a seiko samurai shi-riu limited edition. And on my right wrist an Edox class one daydate automatic titanium dive watch since 2007...
This is a strange one. I’m guessing somebody at Tissot has identified a market for this but I’m not sure what that is. Anyhoo, today I’m wearing my 1990 Tag Heuer 2000 Professional
Thanks for the video. Really retro PRX but too expensive as others have mentioned. I could see the gold coloured model being bought for old men like me who were teens in the 70's. Any preorders yet?
I quite like them, though I'm not sure if I'll buy one since I've already got the Powermatic 80. Wearing the new Rado DiaStar Original today, with the blue dial. I'm liking that watch a lot :)
On the wrist earlier was a Rolex Airking , now a G-Shock Square 5610-U for the workshop. I truly hope that Tissot have jumped onto a bandwagon of 1, I have nothing more to say to be honest.
A Casio Killer. Hardly. If anything, this is more of a Jumping the Shark for Tissot. I understand the initial PRX release. I understand the smaller release to mimic the initial Seastar 1:1. I understand adding "automatic" versions of both for the quartz snobs in the room. But this...This has me scratching my head. 1st of all. There was nothing offered by Tissot in the 70's and 80's that looked like this watch. This is simply taking an existing PRX bracelet and case and putting in a digital module. Yes "digital watches" are "retrotastic", but part of that "retrotastic" flavor comes from knowing a piece like this actually existed. This is why the Hamilton PSR and the Bulova Computron have the retro vibe that this "Frankenwatch" has none of. 2nd of all. This is hardly a Casio Killer. Casio knows how to build rugged Digital watches, and simply placing an LCD digital watch in a very nice stainless steel case/bracelet and sapphire crystal isn't going to cause Casio to lose any sleep. I actually think this is a rare swing and miss for Tissot. The watch itself is unremarkable. The price is way too high for a digital watch. Even the funky Bulova Computron can be got for 100 less. And really, does "Swiss Made" mean anything for an LCD digital watch? Not in my book.
Casio killer? With a price tag more than $300? Heck no 😅 SKMEI can easily make a copy of this and sell it at $30 or less. If that SKMEI version does come out, that will be the true Casio killer.
All i wanted was an automatic, waffle dial, gold pvd Tissot PRX in 37mm. But they went their own way and made an expensive casio homage that nobody asked for xD
I don't get it. Every single person is ragging on this digital watch. I love casio but all watches outside of the new TRN 50ss(that costs the same like this prx) are of kinda low quality. I have a Sideral and I will probably also get this watch at some point because it looks lovely
I'd just get a Casio for way cheaper making a digital version of a mechanical watch isn't a good idea if they wanted to make a digital watch why make it look like the prx, and not a separate model?
Tissot did this before (1977 Tissot 03) and it was actually a Casio S-11. Literally. Casio did a deal and Tissot simply engraved their logo etc on it. Price was a lot more obviously. I'm wondering if they've done it again? 😮 Vid about 1977 watch here: th-cam.com/video/fjUMS4mQO4E/w-d-xo.htmlsi=I3R0AvvNsGFYWAgc
Casio will always be the king for digital watches. And by some margin. This PRX looks, to put it mildly, like an afterthought. Uninspired. That LCD looks cheap. Tissot is really milking the PRX. Cannot fault them for it. They were very good with all the colours, in the classic Swatch style. But this is so bad, on so many levels. So basic. There is simple, and there is basic. Truly uninspired.
Yeah sure. You’d rather skip Solar charging, atomic timekeeping, Bluetooth, DLC coated case, screw down caseback, 200m water resistance, shock resistance, world times, phone tracker, location tracker, triple bracelet attachment with a bolt instead of a weak springbar. And you get to see the day and date without fiddling with buttons. The only thing the Tissot has over the Casio is a sapphire crystal…
Nobody can say Tissot is predictable after both the Sideral and now this release. I think these are retro cool, YET not something for me. These almost seem like the hipster choice (are hipsters still a thing?) if there ever was one. Maybe a stylish hipster, as funny as that sounds. Who's the target demographic here? I'm Gen X and I don't know that it's for me. Digital watch screens like that were what I wore as a little kid. Once Swatch came along, I've since stuck with analog style displays. Maybe it's for the person that's always loved digital watches, but wants to be more classy and stylish. I do think the mirrored surround on the display is unique and interesting, but I would be constantly wiping prints off it. One last thing is this watch is somehow more late '70s than even the other PRX models. That's neither a negative or positive thing, but just an observation. Think of watches like the Omega Speedmaster 186.0004. If you want your mind blown, look that model up.
The nicest thing I can say about this release is that I get the feeling Tissot did this, at least in part, to get a rise out of people, especially online: "no such thing as bad publicity", and all that. In that regard, the watch will be a success. Me? Wouldn't touch it with a borrowed bargepole.
Tissot has milked the PRX so much just runs dry 😂 ... This is the worst design from Tissot all that space unused just adding a small rectangular digital display I might as well just buy a Samsung smart watch 😂
Way too expensive for me for what you are getting. That is only a couple hundred away for the mechanical with the plastic escapement. I like it, but wouldn't buy one for more than 200.
Tissot makes a huge leap after several years of irrelevance and undesirable watches by releasing the PRX.....and they're back. Tissot is like the Cleveland Browns of the watch world 😂 they want to be taken seriously and start to look legit and then trip on their own laces on the 5 yard line

Only one thing would make this watch better….Making it go away.

A GMW-B5000 beats the crap out of this.

I like it, would rock the golden one! Wearing a Festina chronograph with integrated bracelet as i type.
Actually, this makes me appreciate my Casio digital watches even more!!!
I like the look of this digital version, but I think they should gone with a brush face instead of mirrored one on the steel version.

Appreciate that
I like it! i have a soft spot for digital watches
Wrist check: Autodromo Group C digital watch in brushed grey steel with green accent. Another unusually pricy but premium digital watch with a retro vibe! I love the idea of the gold 35mm Tissot.
I think it’s awesome and ordered one. I like the idea of more refined/luxury digital watches. There aren’t many of them.
Who wants that. …. 😢terible looking watch. Can’t the be more inventive. Ad Tissot
As I commented on the first forum where I saw this, the Tissot PRX has jumped the shark.🦈

I honestly like it. But the 1853 under Tissot kills it for me, especially on a digital watch.
