Man, I was so close to "upgrading" to the A7Siii from A7iii until I watched this video. The thing that really seals it, is that as you say the A7iii is a far better Hybrid and for the work we do, that is the most important thing at the moment, until a little down the road we can then upgrade to a true video camera set-up such as the FX6 (the FX3 is really just the A7Siii with a fan). Many thanks for helping me to find the last jigsaw piece that proves to me the equipment we currently have is sufficient to get the jobs done:).

You make me feel good about my $1550 purchase of the A7-iii purchase a few months ago.
The reasons I bought it are below
1, Its full frame,
2, Its mirrorless,
3, It has 24mp stills
4, Shoots vids @4k up to 30fps, (any more than 30fps and you lose that cinematic feel, and the 1080p mode isn’t bad either)
5, 10fps (high speed mode for stills) great for sports
Those are great features for the price at the moment.

Using "cinematic" as an argument for 30 fps is pathetic. You wont lose the possibility to cut frames to 30fps if you get more.
Not everyone wants a cinematic feel and alot of Video footages are better with higher frame rates like nature videos or other youtube video styles.
I am not saying that I wouldnt buy the camera because of this. I actually dont care at all. But the argument is just negative.
4:40 what picture profile are you using on both ? it really looks that there's a huge difference, but the picture profile could be a reason..
Why can't you use the A7siii for photo client work? Doesn't it depend on what the client wants? If the client isn't putting it on a massive billboard, even if they were iPhone has billboards across the country using a sensor that's way smaller 🤔
What settings were used in the final comparison clip? The A7iii looks amazing.

A7siii seems sharper. More detail. The a7iii looks smoother like you’ve put a beauty filter on it.( less detail) I believe they’re may be something affecting it cause typically the a7iii has a downsampled 6k to 4k

I got you bro! I was confused but check this out. If these lenses are too high Sigma and another brand have very similar ones for cheaper prices but this kind of breaks down which lense for what your doing. Best bank for buck is Tamron 28-75mm if you wanted a super versatile lens. My favorite first lens was the 55mm 1.8

I've been shooting just for my personal enjoyment until now, but I'm looking into starting my own business with my A7Siii. It's the only camera I own right now, by the way. Do you think 12MP is not enough for doing photography business? Also, I will appreciate any kind of advice on how to start a photography biz in Hawaii. Thanks!
Hey! That’s awesome. After this review I’ve been shooting photos with the a7siii and I’m super impressed. I realized that MP is not really that important unless your going to be cropping hard or printing big. It’s more than enough to take wedding photos, family photos, etc.
@@Jon_bodhi is the color science on a7s3 better? Also due to the lower pixel does low light stills benefit from this? I heard others said it’s greatly benefit the video shooting but not so much in photo stills
I think if you are intentional with your shots you’ll be fine. The beauty of higher pixel cameras is the ability to crop in. I have topaz gigapixel where I can take a 12mb file and blow it up if I do want to crop in.
A7iii is a softer image , but handles light better. The A7siii shows more definition but the light seemed harsher
What do you think about the Sony A7C? It's practically the same as the A7iii but with a flip screen, smaller and has better colors. The A7C/A7iii both have 24.2mp instead of 12mp as the A7Siii has. I shoot video and take photos for fun. No one is paying me so the lower MP isn't a deal breaker. I'm kind of afraid that there won't be any accessories made for the A7C since it's smaller. I would like to rig it out. If I add an external monitor or Atomos Ninja V to the A7iii and A7C will I lose face detection? That is a big problem. I also want the new menu in the A7Siii. Ugh. I would like to buy one of these three but I just can't make up my mind. I want the A7Siii but I know I don't need it. LOL. Mahalo for your video. It's great. I wish I was in Hawaii. :) Aloha
Hey! I think the A7C is great for doing TH-cam, vlogging, and travel. I wouldn’t see myself using it for client work or portrait photography. You should get the fx3 if you want to rig it out :)
If you’re mainly into video the a7siii is an amazing camera that will last for years! But it costs a lot of money so I would only get the A7siii if your getting serious into client work or making money on TH-cam. The A7III is still the most versatile of the three. I’m just waiting for the a7iv so I can just take one camera to travel with.

I have been shooting on a Canon 90D...I have found a few used Sony a7iii. I think it is time to just go for it and move to the full frame mirrorless game!
I literally just made that switch from 90d ... one thing I miss is the flip screen. Absolutely no regrets

Hey Jon, I bought the a7iii partly based on this review. I was wondering how you deal with this issue: The pictures I take based on the image on the lcd is very different from the final image in playback. For instance they'll either be overexposed or too dark, but when taking it as seen through the lcd, it looked fine.
How happy are you with the video quality? Thinking of purchasing.

I use photos and video with my a7siii and I can print out 20x30 photo and its clear and crisp.
Yeah I've been using the a7siii for photos when I'm doing hybrid shooting and it has been going really well.
