One reason I love this movie so much is that it wasn't afraid to address the truth. Most movies with black directors and predominantly black casts are more interested in showing black people directly victimized by evil white men. Literally the very first in this movie addresses the fact that in the vast majority of black homicide cases their killer was black too. THIS is a far bigger problem and reality in black America. Singleton said what few other black people in Hollywood were saying: We need to take accountability. Sadly, his message has been completely drone out all these years later, replaced with the age-old "All the problems in my life are because of white people" line.
