A plus 25.
I always liked how none of the guys protested Tre getting out of the car. They knew that he was the one that actually had a chance at a better life and a future outside the hood
Beautiful❤
Absolutely loved the score of this music......the music absolutely sets the tone and mood for each scene
Haunting
Stanley Clarke!!!
Doughboy real af letting Tre out and not saying a word
His only line in this scene is, Turn your punk a** over!
Cus he knew Tre didn't roll like that he saw a future in Tre that he know he wasn't going to have sad but he had a heart for thatv
The homie on parole a real one
Most definitely, this whole scene is ganagsta! 1 of my favorite movies of all time! He said he was on Parole & everything that's a ride or die friend for real...lol
Monster
@@jasonmerced718 😂yea he killed three ppl cold blood that ain't real it's sad
@@Yahshuaismyeverything he killed 3 guys that killed his one of his mates ... They wasn't just random people
@@Yahshuaismyeverything revenge is perfectly justifiable
I hate Brenda because if she hadn't sheltered Ricky so much, then he wouldn't have been naive enough to think hardened gang members wouldn't do anything.
If she had been a decent mother, Dough wouldn't have turned out the way he did either, but why is she that way to begin with? Maybe growing up in a constant, invisible warzone traumatizes everyone...
She didn't shelter him, up until the confrontation at the car meet they had not done anything above exchanging words and bluffs. LA hoods are literally separated from block to block and given that Ricky wasn't a crip like doughboy he didn't think he had anything to fear.
That's Keisha 🤦🏾♂️ dough and Ricky had different fathers dough old boi Brenda hated and everyday dough reminds her of dough old boi so she punished dough I had a child hood friend who mother done him the same exact way like dough 🤦🏾♂️ she would by the other son polo and all the Jordans while the son she hated in rags
@@jeremiahhudson302 My older brother had a different dad than me, and my mom 100% treated us different. When my brother passed it became pretty apparent that she cared for us on different levels. Parents say they don't have favorites but that's a lie. I relate to dough a lot lol
Why do family courts continue to favor mothers???
This scene always hits hard for me. Ricky had a chance to get out and be something and those evil boys took his life away over nothing. Not only that Dough knew that getting rid of them wouldn’t bring His brother back nor will the bloodshed end. It’s a never ending cycle that seems to never end
3:39 That's the fool who killed Ricky!!! Good job Dough!!!
Too bad doughboy didn’t know that. Cause he would’ve made him suffer
2nd hand justice for Justice's boyfriend in Poetic Justice too(he's the one who killed her boyfriend in the opening). That dude was a menace.
@@thefearofg0ds758He was murdered in prison in 2005.
@@nickalan5539 Oh noooo
I always find it interesting that Tre is silently crying in this scene, i feel like its because he knows what hes doing is wrong and it goes against what his father is trying to teach him, even if its for ricky
Yeah it’s that classic hood crossroads because whether or not you think you don’t have a choice to be in that life or not there’s always a choice and Tre was conflicted he was acting on emotion but as soon as the ride cleared his head his father’s words flooded him and he knew right there and then this wasn’t it for him
@@lottostuuudmessage! But yeah, that’s how I interpreted it. Very complex emotions and well a executed scene.
@@crazydrummer181 definitely
You make irrational decisions when you’re adrenaline is high, the event is fresh in your mind, and you’re looking for revenge. Tre had some time in the car to contemplate what his next actions would be. How they would affect him and his life if he went forward with them. He collected himself and decided this not the path for him.
Bro, this had nothing to do with Ricky! Ricky was dead, irreversibly, and nothing would bring him back! This was about respect and answering an insult! The only question Tre needed to ask was whether his pride was more important than his future!
Doughboy knew after that night they all got into it that was coming back
The music in this movie is just amazing
an eye for an eye
Makes the world go blind
💯

There is only one way it stops
And then he died
I always liked how doughboy made sure to finish off all of em with Ferris because he knew that no matter who pulled the trigger on Ricky, the ringleader who started the whole fuckin thing was ferris. He bears the most responsibility and got saved for last where he knew it was coming. As it should be.
The way icecube look at dude
After he said let's go get some to eat...
Now you know the consequences of putting ketchup all over your fries! 😂😂😂
“Why you worried about it fool these my fries” 🍟
It's gross tbh😂😂😂
Man watching this as a 42 year old man from when I first watched it when I was a kid it hits even harder, whew!!!
Same
Kid? Damn man I was in my late teens and it still goes hard! Thank you John Singleton and RIP!
This movie has turned Ice Cube into a brilliant actor. After 1991, he did Friday and Barbershop trilogies, Are We There Yet?, etc.
Such a sad movie. Watching it now as a father really hits me hard.
I love how Doughboy eyes were pitched black looking down at Ferris 🐐💯💯
1991 was a great year for movies. 4 of my all time favorites came out that year: Boyz n the Hood, Point Break, Silence of the Lambs, and Terminator 2: Judgement Day.
Good call😎
1994 was also an incredible year for films. We were spoiled with the early 90s.
@@TXnine7nine Agreed. I would much rather rewatch movies from the 90’s than watch the trash they are putting out today. It seems that screenwriters have lost all originality and just produce remakes, sequels, and prequels.
Also beauty and the beast from disney
You ever seen Manhunter?
the AK is pointing right at the driver after he inserts the magazine - don't hit a bump, mtherfker
It wasn’t charged.
Made me nervous.
@@jeffreyabelson7171 a “bump” in the road isn’t a large enough jolt. Your talking about dropping the rifle on concrete. Guns don’t go off during earthquakes so I think it’ll be okay during a car ride.
good point, their gun safety is lacking.
If a bump will cause an AK to fire, I can’t imagine what carrying one through actual combat would be like. A BMP is a lot rougher ride than a ‘63.
Monster a straight up G…. My favorite character in whole movie….. Give my boy that baseball ⚾️ scholarship….
They killed Ricky for no reason so good for them.
They killed Ricky to get to Dough, then they eventually did. Besides, Ricky was begging to die from the moment he hit the streets with the football.
@@joepermenter7228 And that scratch and sniff bull ish he was messing with.
@@MisterB2eternity That's what I meant. When there was a sensible decision to be made, he always chose to test fate. He chose to start shit and get loud when he got bumped, he chose to risk being robbed of his favorite possession in that of his dad's football, he chose to split off from his best friend in a life or death situation, then he chose to die by scratching off a lotto ticket in said situation. Not to mention knocking some chick up in high school ensuring his future(that was already screwed) was going to be shitty.
@@joepermenter7228 Spot on analysis!!!! I couldn't agree more.
@@MisterB2eternity It's sad how many decisions were ultimately made for him based on his judgement and circumstances. I'm noticing lately that favoritism from Brenda is a popular opinion these days because of the different birth fathers of doughboy and himself, but that's the easy way out. I mean, the only time he shows any sense whatsoever about hood life is when Furious takes him to Compton. He clearly was in a dreamworld headspace instead of being on a swivel and it cost him his life.
Got em lackin
Caught them slackin is the proper term.
Usually how it works
4:25 idk why this part always does something to me
I wonder if this scene is like doughboy realizing what he just did and it made him feel worse or if he could only think about his brother and was so hurt that he really was out to kill and get revenge. Great movie
"I didn't pull the trigger, but I'm the one who drove them around" Lol
I think at that point dough didn't want to shoot him but dough realized he was the cause of all this so..

Yup sure did. Sounds like an actual K because the original sound mix was way different.
It was changed in Blu-Ray upgrade years ago

Revenge is best served cold and without notice.

I feel for the mom, she lost both her children in a matter of hours. Then dude realizing avenging his friend wouldn’t solve anything afterwards. But this movie was well written by Ice cube. It’s a great film based of the lifestyle that many of us don’t know.
What a brilliant film. Undoubtedly it set the standard for gang films in the nineties.
This scene is sad tragic and classic all at the same time. This whole scene shit this whole hood movie is childhood memories for me I saw this a lot as a kid I miss the 90s so much.
Im white and this movie has stayed with me ever since i watched it back in 1998 when i was 10. Saw it one night on HBO when my parents didnt know and i was hooked. It was so intense and terrifying yet i never could forget it and have been drawn to it ever since. This scene, along with rickys death, are imbedded in my mind.
I saw it after it released in '91.
I suggest you find & watch COLORS 1988 if you haven't already.
Them Chinese balls spinning always had an effect on me. Just tension.
My bf is white and loves this movie too😂
@@petepan9696 wait PAUSEEE🥴😂😂😂
Stanley Clarke 🎷 that tension of the metal health balls clinging. Masterpiece.
You talking about tha foley work?
This was crazy back in the day
The homes with the pacifier in his mouth is the first getting the gatt. LOL
2 divine moments that caught my attention as I got older watching this film..
1. Ferris mentions and compares his hair to Samson, which is a biblical reference of a favorite of God, who God made incredibly strong based on his hair never being cut. It shows that even in the mist of crime, murder & gang life, these folks were probably educated on the spiritual way of God, yet they could never set their minds free to it.
2. The most powerful thing I could notice is that when Tre was in the car having time to recollect, Furious was meditating with his “balls” lol. The point is this, everything Tre heard from Furious was flowing through his head, and in turn Furious was probably mentally trying to force everything he has said/taught to Tre while meditating. Once Tre got out the car, as soon as the door shuts and he pulls off, Furious stops moving the balls. It’s like all of those lectures and lessons worked in that moment, and Furious felt it that it did in that very moment.
That convertible is still cool looking.
3:07 when you realise your friends aint friends mans said "go your own way"
uhhh, they would have had more of a chance if they went separate directions

How about monster hitting three moving targets from a moving car, outstanding!

The part that always gets me is when that 1 guy was saying it wasn't him he didn't pull the trigger but you know what he may as well have been the one that pulled the trigger that killed Ricky because you know what he didn't do anything to stop it. So by him not doing anything to stop it he may as well been the one to pull the trigger himself.
Imagine Cube, I dunno 60s, reflecting on his contribution to the world.
1:23 - Tre has Ricky's blood all over his clothes, and this other guy doesn't even react. Just another night in The Hood.
Love the fact dough dropped him off by the nearest bus stop! Dough knew tre was just alone for his bestfriend, but dough didn’t want him there in the first place
An eye for an eye and the whole world goes blind

Been awhile since watching. The Samson line is jnreference Doc Samson. A version of Hulk, or Hulk-esque whose strength used to be dependant on his hair. For whatever weird reason.
It’s based on Samson from the Biblical book of Judges. He had tremendous strength as long as he never cut his hair.
