Although turbos can be potentially less reliable (yes I watched till the end), if you drive them conservatively, like Ray, they can be a reliable way to realize both increased power and good fuel economy. In my Kia Forte GT, I averaged 37 mpg before filling up a few days ago, driving mostly relaxed. It has more than enough power when I need it, while saving me money at the pump.
I’m seeing loaded rubicon gladiators going for 42-45k at some dealerships. Most people I know are insanely upside down right now. My son would love to trade his 2019 Silverado trail boss but he’s $9500 upside down. I wouldn’t mind trading my wife’s car in but it’s 7-8k upside down.

Turbos build high pressure in the engine. High pressure wears out an engine quicker. It can also over stress components and create terminal engine failure. And the leakage factor can also destroy many other parts. Running turbo 4s and 6s is a mistake.
Bought a 2018 Dodge longhorn addition, 72k, at approximately 900 miles the fan shroud got sucked into the radiator they would NOT warranty it. This was the 3rd diesel I had bought in a 5 year span, it won’t happen ever again. Ironically they also kept calling me about adding the “extended warranty” what a joke and it is on retail you do not have the funds to fight them period
We bought a new '99 Chevy Prism instead of a Corolla because it was $2,000 cheaper. Chevy dealers would negotiate price, but Toyota wouldn't. Both versions came from the same plant in Fremont, California. Also, GM offered a rewards credit card that allowed us (at no extra cost) accumulate thousands of dollars of new car purchase credit. We used the GM rewards to accumulate good down payments on both the '99 Prism and a '04 GMC pickup. On gasoline engines a turbo equals more heat which is never good for dependability, and small engine plus heavy loads seldom last very long.
Private equity companies are paying cash for about 20% of home sales, turning them into rental units, and using computer algorithms to charge the highest rents they can get away with.
When I see Ray‘s face on a preview, I just have to click in 😀 roll the prices back to 2019 and everyone will return who likes these products. And a fun fact from Connecticut: next year, the state will be using MSRP to determine your auto property taxes. So I hope Stelantis will drop the actual MSRP and not revert to the old “hey have we got a discount for you“ strategy.
the word is out the newer wranglers are plagued with problems and the way there made failing engines early wear ,oil filter housings engine stalls when putting in reverse and many more and they are much harder to work on some people are putting LS engines in them there are a few companies make the complete conversion kit , not to mention with 30 percent off on jeeps when the price went up 65 percent still quite a price to pay for problems
It could be that they are going to reduce prices gradually up to 30% over 6 to 8 months? An instant 30% across the board would lead to another shortage so they have to be tactical about it.
Will this 30% price drop do anything above the lot rot from sitting for 2 years? Or any of the quality issues which was another reason people weren't buying. How much will ford drop their price? They just recalled basically every diesel truck. That wont help sales
If prices on new production drops by 30%, what will happen to all those acres of expensive vehicles rotting away on the dealership lots? Sounds like a huge problem for the dealerships.
The only reason i still have my 2013 Ram is because the lifetime warranty I purchased in 2015. I might be willing to sell it if Stellantis wants to offer me 30k cash for it. If that doesn't happen, I'll nickel and dime them until the wheels literally fall off considering it's only $100 deductible for me for an engine, trans, electronics, heater core, etc.
@13:25...In two years or so, Honda will have problems that will be blamed on Honda 'taking their eyes off the ball' with the Nissan merger. Ford and Mazda had a partnership in the late 1990s Mazda built the manual transmissions for some of the Ford explorers around that time and Ranger pickup was same vehicle as Mazda small truck.
I’ve already seen prices going up to cover that 30% drop next year. Nobody knows what the true MSRP really is lol. They just keep raising and now the 30% drop will still keep the price higher than it should be.🙄
30% drop but add in ceramic coating, nitrogen in the tires, recalls, and costly repair bills. And if you're really unlucky they might deny your warranty claim.
Basically, unless the manufacturer can directly control the prices at the dealer flashing, MSRP isn’t gonna do anything. Car market right now is unsustainable at current prices when it comes down to it.
Pontiac Vibe, Toyota Matrix, were built in the California Toyota Factory that Tesla rebuilt and is now their California factory. It produced the highest quality product ever rated GM QC. I have no idea why Toyota did not call it the Corolla Wagon.
They used to made cars for the average Joe, but their own greed took over and they lost 90% of their market. It turns out trying to seem like a luxury brand doesn't work when you're selling garbage.
Smart money says sell all leftover unsold vehicles at 10 cents on a dollar for cash only to American market, without warranty and write off the losses. This would create a sense of good will to all American customers who will likely be returning for their next vehicles.
Unlike car stealerships, auto manufacturers wo on very tight formulas for MSRP, and are not able to arbitrarily lower prices. They set MSRP as low as possible to keep market share, and allow their dealers to make enough profit to push the brand.
Hyundai/Kia is right behind them at MSRP raised by 56% over 5 years. But SOME of them are still selling. I really hope Hyundai/Kia/Genesis takes note here and does similar. $55,000 for a Santa Fe or Sorento is INSANE. I don't care how many black stickers they put on it or tablets inside. It's ludicrous.

+45% = $72.5k
-30% = $50.75k

I negotiated $11K off a 2024 Gladiator Rubicon X. Negotiated, so on top off what they were already discounting and I’m still upside down! Dog dang it!
I don’t plan on trading it in but you never know what the future holds. If times get rough I would rather sell it than have a repo!
Your correct, The resale value of dodge is going to tank even worse then before.
It’s going to be that one Ram without A/c and Roll up windows .30% off but 8000 ceramic coating. 1200 nitrogen . 800 door edge guards.
A car has to be more than inexpensive before someone would buy. Needs to be reliable, durable, attractive, and touch the soul.
What difference does it make if they lower the sticker but keep the useless dealer ad ons and crazy doc fees.
Question, where can I (re)watch the whole show? Typically there would be a 'live' tab, but I don't have that for this channel.....
Is that on new vehicles or unsold 2024 models?
They should put out a 30-35% rebate on the 2024s just to protect the dealers
I have a 2021 Durango awd rt plus with the captain chairs Napa leather dvd etc.. I know my vehicle will tank but I fully support this. Their cars will sell with 35 percent off. I owe under 3 k left on mine with 42,000 miles on it, haven’t decided if I should trade it in for a newer model if I can get a new one just like it for say 40k.
Brilliant CEO strategy. "Here me out. If we lower prices people will buy more cars... Do I take my $20M bonus now or later'
In California still Lantis dealerships are still marking up prices 10 to 15,000 and 5000 $ mark ups and they’re keeping the factory incentives for the 24 year knowing that the 25s are coming in and they’re still raising the price the dealers here have other dealerships that they own and keep the price is high the green is the problem not the manufacturer
A polished turd is a polished turd, regardless of price.
Polished Turd -
Term we pilots give to a aircraft with new paint job applied
-- to cover up safety, maintenance, or design issues.
You can sprinkle sugar on a turd and it will still taste like shit.
but in 100 years that polished turd will give great meaning to archeology and be priceless.
If pilots would stop breaking the damn aircraft, it wouldn't be a polished turd!😂
@@haddenmiller4364 Not damaging aircraft? Good advice for sure :)
That said, sadly, some sellers and charter companies do indeed try fool would-be buyers and passengers via a shinny new paint job.
That said, this dishonesty doesn't cross over to airlines...even Spirit has good maintenance.
Bought a 2025 Silverado ZR2 with a $78.9k MSRP for $71.6k OTD yesterday. Sale price of $65.9. Pricey yes, but I been waiting for almost 1 1/2 yrs to pull the trigger. Felt like I had to on this one 😅
The Honda Passport was a re-badged Isuzu, and I loved the one I had.
Does this mean that models like the Jeep Compass and Renegade will be starting at right around $20,000?
I rented a Metro in Maine and got on the turnpike and met by a Moose. I returned to the auto rental place and got a big suv lol
Same for houses, homeowners need to drop their sell prices by 25K every two months!
Home owners do not need to lower their homes price for anyone. Keep renting if you can't afford one.
Private equity companies are paying cash for about 20% of home sales, turning them into rental units, and using computer algorithms to charge the highest rents they can get away with.
From what I've seen, the only trucks that appear to have a significant discount are the half ton models.
See new trucks and sport utilities all over town being driven by young people. How do they do it???
If you're using a turbo for regular driving. Why it should just be an extra thing if you want a race car kinda thing tbh
I already seen anywhere 6-10k off on new grand Cherokee’s based on the trim. I’m waiting for the bigger cut then
Will this 30% price drop do anything above the lot rot from sitting for 2 years? Or any of the quality issues which was another reason people weren't buying.
How much will ford drop their price? They just recalled basically every diesel truck. That wont help sales
40k for a loaded Dart is absolutely insane. Putting the MSRP where it belongs would definitely put more of them on the road.
If prices on new production drops by 30%, what will happen to all those acres of expensive vehicles rotting away on the dealership lots? Sounds like a huge problem for the dealerships.
This is why you never buy an overpriced vehicle/house/appliance just because you get a great interest rate.
The interest rate is factored in the msrp.
I just heard today, they they reduced the preceding of 35 PERCENT off MSRP!
Ray great knowledge. Nice watches.
My first vehicle was a small dodge ram, which was really a Mitsubishi.
@13:25...In two years or so, Honda will have problems that will be blamed on Honda 'taking their eyes off the ball' with the Nissan merger. The Honda C-suite supply of cognition will be absorbed by NIssan issues. Aside from Honda possibly beefing up their truck line-up, what are the synergies in this merger?
Ford and Mazda had a partnership in the late 1990s Mazda built the manual transmissions for some of the Ford explorers around that time and Ranger pickup was same vehicle as Mazda small truck.
I’ve already seen prices going up to cover that 30% drop next year. Nobody knows what the true MSRP really is lol. They just keep raising and now the 30% drop will still keep the price higher than it should be.🙄
Still not enough, they need to cut 50% as a starting point. At this stage, how do you underestimate your overpricing?
30% drop but add in ceramic coating, nitrogen in the tires, recalls, and costly repair bills. And if you're really unlucky they might deny your warranty claim.
Basically, unless the manufacturer can directly control the prices at the dealer flashing, MSRP isn’t gonna do anything. Car market right now is unsustainable at current prices when it comes down to it.
There cutting price tags but it’s still almost 1k a month payment for 70 months lol
Pontiac Vibe, Toyota Matrix, were built in the California Toyota Factory that Tesla rebuilt and is now their California factory. It produced the highest quality product ever rated GM QC. I have no idea why Toyota did not call it the Corolla Wagon.
It's about time you all got together for a collaborative video!
They used to made cars for the average Joe, but their own greed took over and they lost 90% of their market. It turns out trying to seem like a luxury brand doesn't work when you're selling garbage.
GM already owns GM Korea (formerly Daiwoo). Geo Metro was the Suzuki Swift.
Mazda Navajo was the POC vehicle for the Ford Explorer.
