This was probably my favorite video that you have done this year--absolutely love all of your stuff, but this one hit home for me (not sure why--maybe the ages of my kids growing up and beginning to wonder "what if I did this or that differently", maybe because I am also dealing with aged parent, maybe because I am not able to travel as much as I would like right now due to circumstances beyond my control, and maybe its because I need to hear a lot of inspirational messages and coaching on how to get through this election year (live in super conservative area and due to my job I can't speak out or have a voice). Not sure if this is something you do--but day trips? I'd love to learn more about Georgia, cool places to visit down there, and I have hope for Georgia politically right now! :-). Also, love all the pride stuff--as a new to this parent of an adolescent who recently came out (want to do it right--but sometimes need guidance and encouragement!). Thank you for creating a wonderful community.
Taking it a day at a time over here, too. Maybe that’s why it resonated?? I don’t have it figured out, not even a little, but I’m determined to show up and give it my best shot. Sounds like you are, too.❤️

😆 exactly! I was listening to just the audio as I decorated my planner, and I was like, "sounds reasonable." Then I looked at the screen later, and was like hold up!
I didn’t want to mention it but it actually took me until like 5 minutes after to actually comprehend it and I was like ‘wait?’ 😂. I had to go back and make sure I wasn’t having a chemo brain moment.

Keep talking and share your story - it’s so meaningful! Also worked for a super conservative church in my 20s and actually working there helped me realize wow this is not what I truly believe. When I’m processing the guilt of things done and said because that experience I always have to remind myself I was doing the best I could at that time with the information and experiences I had. ❤ kindness to you
Hi! The English degree inquiry was me. LOVE your content. I always snuggle in on Friday nights to watch your videos. I started watching for the travel content and just kind of fell in love with your entire personality. You’re doing amazingly well at this 😊 -a 44yr old momma of five here whose passion is all things travel.
I dont understand how this video lost you subscribers 😂 I loved it!! And precisely what you said in this video is why I love your channel so much. You live a totally different life than me and I love seeing your perspective!! Thanks for sharing 💗
Love love love what you said about dealing with politics. If we could all lower our exposure to stressors instead of leaning into them like so many do, and focus on your loved ones and things that bring you joy; we would be the better for it.
I love your videos. They're like sitting with a friend over coffee :) I'm a former pastor and missionary and really appreciated what you said about things you'd wished you did differently raising your kids. I grew up in a pretty conservative church background and married someone who was less so. Living outside of North America really gave me the freedom to step back and see what I struggled with and has helped us to make different decisions with our kids than what I learned when I was their age, and I'm so thankful for that. Also, as a Canadian from BC, I love that you love my province so much and also have dreams to visit PEI :)
We are going to make it happen, Leslie! It has to! And thank you . . yeah, it's a painful truth that we have to reconcile but I'm so grateful we see things clearly now. The way God intended:).
I totally agree with you about reading news instead of watching it because TV news is sensationalized, whereas well-researched, well-written, well-edited journalism usually isn't.
You’re videos are just so comforting to me. It also amazes me that we have so many things in common. I also majored in English but never graduated college because life got in the way. I would only need a few more classes to compete my degree and I’m really considering it at 47!
I have considered finishing but honestly it's a lot of money and I have so many other things I want to do right now. Maybe when I get REALLY old like 60? LOLOL
I’d be a different parent too. We did the best we could and my adult children don’t hold it against me. We draw from our own experience and that’s not always the best. I’m much older, as are my boys, and I try to not look back and find comfort in the fact that I did my best. Basic decency and inclusion have always been a part of the recipe, so it’s all good. To you and me I give grace! ❤
We would also be different parents. My hope is that, as our boys raise their children, they realize what a hard job it is and that we did the best we could under the circumstances of our learning from what we viewed as our own parents" parenting mistakes and the times in which we were living.
Thanks for sharing, as a recovering catholic with a daughter who does not fit into that mold, I too have some regrets. She has been so good to say I’m doing it right now. She has turned out to be such a great person so I did something right ❤.
Only half way through this video but has to come on and say that you always make so much sense! I love your outlook and honesty and, having turned 50 last year, it’s wonderful to have a more experienced and wise voice on this channel that I can relate to! Keep doing what you do and I hope and wish that your current struggles improve soon for you ❤

We spent this past winter going through the house to unload stuff we no longer need or want. Good feeling after a yard sale to bring a huge load of stuff to local place and not back into the house. Feel so much weight lifted.

I was so surprised you brought up Don Quixote as your favorite musical! It has a wonderful message of keep going even if the way looks impossible. I always enjoy your insights. The backdrop does look nice.
I got to go to the Anne of Green Gables house last year! We did a St. Lawrence Seaway cruise- it was awesome- we started in Montreal and ended in Boston.
Love your backdrop. Makes me curious about the books you’re reading😊 Love your channel and your genuine-ness (I’m sure there’s a better word!🙄). Have a great day!
Right now I’m reading a lot of Ann LAMOTT (currently reading Almost Everything Notes on Hope) as well as The 36 Hour Day (a book for how help loved ones with dementia) and a novel by Fredrick Blackman My Grandmother Asked me To Tell You She’s sorry
Jen, l Iove a Q & A video and this one was one of the best. Parenting is a tough gig, I found. I also have many regrets about the way we parented our boys. So far, they're doing great in spite of us. LOL! Fortunately, I grew up, and we raised our boys, in a very liberal denomination where the main focus is social justice. None of us "go to church" any more but our boys are both very kind, compassionate, and accepting men, so in spite of my many parenting regrets, church isn't one of them (whew!).My hope is that, as they raise their own children they realize what a hard job it is and give us grace.
So enjoyed this vlog - I love to read too and can relate to always learning from any conversation and other people in general plus being empathic helps me to navigate the undesirables and open up to any and all positivity! When we hung out at Coronado Springs I could sense how much of a good person you are and we could all use more like you in our lives! Stay the course and the universe will provide you with something special. ❤
I was in pei last summer. It's wonderful..but stay in No. Rustico. Near water. Walk in her steps for the day, but don't stay in Charlottetown. I love Anne too. Anne, and dulcinea.
You made me feel good. I also am in the same college level as you and in the same degree. I've done a lot of creative writing too. I look forward to your books.
Jen! I have spent every summer as a child on PEI! My dad was born and raised there! He also got my sister and I dual citizenship to Canada. I haven’t been back since pre COVID and I miss the island terribly. It is a beautiful place with beautiful people. You must take a trip there! My dad is heading there June 5th for the summer. It is his happy place because all his friends and family are still there. Growing up I was OBSESSED with the Megan follows Anne of green gables movies, we have them all on DVD and actually got them signed by Jonathan Crombie who played Gilbert! My heart bursts with joy to hear you want to vist the island! If you do you have to try the potatoes, and chocolate covered potatoes chips, oh and we can’t forget the seafood! They even have raspberry cordial! Of course vist all things Anne and Lucy Maude! Speaking of Lucy Maude, I believe a that my great grandmother had Lucy Maude serve as here maid of honor at her wedding(PEI is a small island lol) Much love!
Another Anne Of Green Gables fan here! I went on my own when I was 10 to visit my godmother who lived in PEI. It was amazing and was around the time the original mini series came out. You must seek out the musical which they used to do every year. I still remember every word off by heart x
Liked your “basement” locale. I call it a garden level. Saw a fabulous production of “Man of LaMancha”, on Broadway with Raul Julia, many moons ago. This new Q & A video was very informative, motivating to try harder & keep learning. 😎🌴
Oh I'm so glad! It's very private down there which is a bonus as well. We are doing some work upstairs and this way I'm not trying to film around the workers schedule (and YES when this project is done I'll be sharing all about it!)
I love Man of La Mancha! My parents used to play several Broadway musicals on LP when we were growing up, and that was one of our standby favorites. I think I know every lyric!
Loved this video. No surprise. I love that there is humor (can’t disclose the airline) and very helpful and inspiring answers. I align so completely with your political views. And I agree that you are very eloquent and articulate. I wish I could explain how I feel about things like you do!
Oh PEI and Anne! Me too! Meghan Fellows IS Anne to me! Adventures by Disney has a trip to PEI and I was so close to joining, but I just couldn’t justify the cost right now.
Jen!! When you said Saskatchewan I almost fell over! That's where I live and we get no recognition whatsoever because people seem to only care about British Columbia, Ontario, or Quebec. The prairies are beautiful, please visit! PS: you NAILED the pronunciation!!
What a timely video. So many points hit hard, today. I'm coming up on 50, dealing with the same Mom issue you're going through (like, so parallel, it's crazy!), hoping I've guided my almost 20 yo to the best of my ability with my own sweet Scott as my partner in life. Kinda trying to figure out what my next chapter in life will be (I know I can't read ahead, but it's more like I'm still trying to choose the book). How you deal with politics is similar to how I manage, as well. My brother is a reactive person and sends me articles and crap, all the time. Hard to avoid, but I can set it aside and decide when I want to consume the info. What a time. Whew! I, too, want to visit PEI!! Living where we do, we visit BC, a lot. Canada is great! Such a big world. So much yet to explore! 😊 Thank you for sharing your thoughts on life. So often, it really helps me on whatever path I'm walking at the moment. 😊❤️
“For some of you, that just made PERFECT sense.” - yep! Currently on a deconstruction journey, and I am right there with you in the “not everything about my church experience was bad, but some things were downright damaging. Sending you love and hugs 🫂 😊23:59
YES. Not everything was bad - my kids had wonderful creative people around them that taught them many GOOD things - but the bad was REALLY bad and breaks my heart
An idea for the news cycle stresses…I read the news (several sources to hopefully get a broader view of facts/opinions) while drinking my coffee in the morning. And then I don’t read the news after that (and I never watch it…too much drama!). This allows me to stay up on what is happening without going down the news media rabbit hole during the day or go to bed at night with my head full of anxiety.
I looked into going to PEI, but it was very convoluted and would take about day...from CT...I need to do more research because I, too, want to follow Carrots and see the view from that lighthouse!
Blue wall 💪 I feel like I’m doing the same thing about politics which helps. You’re absolutely right, we can’t stress what we can’t control. Well said Jen 👏
Love watching your vlogs over here in the UK. You asked about your new ‘old’ room. Loving the throw and cushion on the white chair just behind you. Is the cushion handmade - looks like it - gorgeous.
It is hand made and belonged to my grandmother! I'm not sure if she made it or if someone made it for her, but either way I adore it. I'm so glad you noticed it!
I grew up in a very conservative church and left at 18 because I didn’t agree with a number of the teachings (especially that women should be subservient and college was discouraged, but in retrospect there is a lot more) - and I survived and eventually thrived. Hoping with your support your sons can thrive as well. I sometimes regret not teaching my children much about religion or giving them that structure (in a more liberal/accepting church) so no option is perfect!
Jen I think you would adore Quebec City. It’s a little slice of Europe. I’m in Maine and FINALLY headed to PEI next summer. My Anne heart has been aching 😂
Agree with you on so much about handling political stress. One thing I have had to do for my own mental well-being and overall health is to totally block (I literally mean totally cut out of my life) all toxic people and that includes politically toxic people.
Thank you so much Jen for the advice on handling political stress. Lately I have felt panicky at times when I think about what is going on in our country and with my neighbors. I feel isolated most days(I live in Alabama). Watching you makes me feel a little better knowing that there are like minded people around. Very comforting to watch you.
@@JoyfulLivingwithJenLefforge I hope so! I live in South Florida where I used to feel confident in who my neighbors were and what they believed. Not true any longer. And it's scary.
I suggest trying Hollander America for an Alaskan cruise on one of their newer ships. Classy and low key. A big bonus is they provide Elemis shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion. I always feel pampered on Hollander America.
I have a Gravel blanket and love it. It use whenever I travel. When I fly the zipped pocket is very nice, you can put your wallet and passport in it. The pocket is next to your body so you can sleep and know your valuables are safe.
You had me at dealing with politics with denial! (Jk!) We took an NYC to Quebec City cruise on Royal Caribbean that stopped in PEI and I went to Green Gables and just WEPT while wandering around (while my husband and mother in law were bewildered with me and thought I had lost it.) It was so charming that we picked up a real estate guide as we headed back to the ship. Isn’t that the hallmark of a good vacation? When you ask, “can we move here?”
I'm watching this in increments and enjoy whichever part of the video each time. My boyfriend and I are in our thirties and unfortunately get the most news from TikTok. The way everything is presented is sensationalized and disgusting, no matter what it is. His phone is loud, so I try to tune it out after I hear something. Totally agree on reading it instead.
Love your videos so much…I often watch the old ones on Jen Lefforge…we’re DVC too and I love the Disney stuff and the cruises! Ahh! Everything. You take me there. Just love your passion and joy. My question is why do you so often travel on a paid ticket when your husband works for Delta? (I’m a Gate Agent at Delta as well.) ☺️✈️
Because generally I’m flying to places where I have to be there at a certain time like cruises and I don’t like to risk it. Also, if it’s a work trip, Deltas guidelines for non revs is that it be for leisure and personal travel only. We are rule followers!
This new set looks great. I do have 1 small tweak suggestion to lower the camera a touch. To me it feels like it's on the boarder of being in a imposing power position vs friendly chat.

What a great video! Thank you so much!!
I was so surprised you brought up Don Quixote as your favorite musical! It has a wonderful message of keep going even if the way looks impossible. I always enjoy your insights. The backdrop does look nice.
Hi from the UK, keeping the airline that your husband works for .. Mmm... I saw a big clue hiding in plain sight. Nice one Jen ! Take care x
I love the filming location. I also love La Mancha….
Love to hear both! Thank you!
Your content resonates with me a lot, but now you REALLY got yourself a superfan saying Man Of LA Mancha is your favorite musical😊
Oh hurray!
I got to go to the Anne of Green Gables house last year! We did a St. Lawrence Seaway cruise- it was awesome- we started in Montreal and ended in Boston.
I need to look into a New Brunswick and PEI cruise for sure
I will say my grown sons are so wonderful to me and are truly all three wonderful human beings so I feel like a very lucky mom that they are ours!!
Thank you so much!!!!

Love the t-shirt!🤣 Love how honest and strong you are. You ARE looking amazing!♥️
Oh thank you!!
The paint color is by Benjamin Moore and it's called Blue Jean!
I was in pei last summer. It's wonderful..but stay in No. Rustico. Near water. Walk in her steps for the day, but don't stay in Charlottetown. I love Anne too. Anne, and dulcinea.
Thank you so much for answering my question! ❤
OF COURSE! I hope my answer helped!
The space and lighting are great. Noticed even before you mentioned it. 🎉
Oh thank you so much!! I really like it too!
You made me feel good. I also am in the same college level as you and in the same degree. I've done a lot of creative writing too. I look forward to your books.
I love that! Thank you!
@@JoyfulLivingwithJenLefforge You're so welcome. ♥
Appreciate your honesty and willingness to share. And like the travel comforter idea.
I love it, too, it's just that when I got into the process I realized how much it entailed and I got tired LOL
Hi. I am from Saskatchewan. My heart smiled when you said it. Love your videos
I hope to go there someday! Preferably in the summer 🥶😂🥰
Oh my goodness I love your comment for so many reasons but the enthusiasm is the big one! You’ve done Anne proud with your love for the place. ❤️❤️❤️
I grew up in Nova Scotia and loved camping summer vacations in PEI!
Another Anne Of Green Gables fan here! I went on my own when I was 10 to visit my godmother who lived in PEI. It was amazing and was around the time the original mini series came out. You must seek out the musical which they used to do every year. I still remember every word off by heart x
All of your comments have got me even more motivated to plan a trip there!
Liked your “basement” locale. I call it a garden level. Saw a fabulous production of “Man of LaMancha”, on Broadway with Raul Julia, many moons ago. This new Q & A video was very informative, motivating to try harder & keep learning. 😎🌴
Oh thank you I'm so glad you liked it!
Thank you for sharing as always and sending love to you all at this time 🥰🥰🥰 ps love the new location/backdrop xxxxxx
Oh I'm so glad! It's very private down there which is a bonus as well. We are doing some work upstairs and this way I'm not trying to film around the workers schedule (and YES when this project is done I'll be sharing all about it!)
@@JoyfulLivingwithJenLefforge yaaaay 😃 love all of your content and really appreciate your honest and open vlogging style 🥰🥰xx
I love Man of La Mancha! My parents used to play several Broadway musicals on LP when we were growing up, and that was one of our standby favorites. I think I know every lyric!
And to be fair, I played his niece when I was in the musical and I'm Only Thinking of Him is the most difficult piece of music I've ever had to learn!
Anne of Green Gables stuff in PEI lives up to all your dreams!!! We stayed at the “white sands” hotel. ❤❤
Dream trip!
Loved this video. No surprise. I love that there is humor (can’t disclose the airline) and very helpful and inspiring answers. I align so completely with your political views. And I agree that you are very eloquent and articulate. I wish I could explain how I feel about things like you do!
I love the basement space.
Oh PEI and Anne! Me too! Meghan Fellows IS Anne to me! Adventures by Disney has a trip to PEI and I was so close to joining, but I just couldn’t justify the cost right now.
Yeah that’s another trip I’d love to do but it’s way out of my price range!
I love the new room and background. ❤️😘
I'm so glad! The sound is good there, too.
Love the new setup!
Love to hear that! Thank you, Sarah!
Jen!! When you said Saskatchewan I almost fell over! That's where I live and we get no recognition whatsoever because people seem to only care about British Columbia, Ontario, or Quebec. The prairies are beautiful, please visit! PS: you NAILED the pronunciation!!
Oh I’m so glad!!!! Yes I would love to visit but not in the winter because 🥶🥶🥶
What a timely video.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on life. So often, it really helps me on whatever path I'm walking at the moment. 😊❤️
Oh wow you do know what I’m going through!! Let’s both hang in there!!
I laughed at the airline question. Very subtle Jen lol . Impossible dream is one of my favorite songs from a musical. I love Linda Eder's version.
So beautiful!
Great video. Always look forward to your videos/insta post.
Sheetcaking
Seriously sometimes I think about that moment on SNL and I’m so grateful 🤣❤️
@@JoyfulLivingwithJenLefforge Right?! I see a lot of sheetcaking happening for me in the second half of this year!
Just love your attitude Jen! Postive, honest and take no 💩! Love it love it love it! Also really laughed at your Delta t-shirt moment 😂
Thank you!!!! Lovely comment!!😂🥰🥰🥰❤️
Love the set-up!
This is a Megan Fellows Stan account now! Love that mini series. It gave me life. 🙌
Oh 100% and always.
@@JoyfulLivingwithJenLefforgedon’t beat yourself up. You did your best at the time. When you know better, you do better. 💕
@@lindamiddleton6785 Not beating myself up just very very sad for what my kids experienced.
Dulcinea! I have dreamed thee before. One pair of arms...oh, it is so sad. But wonderful.
Yes, Megan Fellows' Anne of Green Gables is the best. IMO also.
RIGHT? It's the correct version;).
Blue wall 💪 I feel like I’m doing the same thing about politics which helps. You’re absolutely right, we can’t stress what we can’t control. Well said Jen 👏
Safe travels this week!!
My daughter loved Paros too! She wants the whole family to go together !
Heavenly! And if you stay close to Naousa like we did you’re walkable to amazing shops and restaurants
I think The Wandering Librarian should become a patron and come on the cruise 🎉
Agreed!
Jen I think you would adore Quebec City. It’s a little slice of Europe. I’m in Maine and FINALLY headed to PEI next summer. My Anne heart has been aching 😂
You’re not the first to tell me that so it must be true!!! Adding it to the list!
Anne of Green Gables tragic here too. 🍎
The blue wall 💙
She was screaming for a come back! LOL
Beautiful thoughts!
Agree with you on so much about handling political stress. One thing I have had to do for my own mental well-being and overall health is to totally block (I literally mean totally cut out of my life) all toxic people and that includes politically toxic people.
It's the only way to live!
There are more than anyone realizes!!
I can’t wait to try mine!
You had me at dealing with politics with denial! (Jk!)
We took an NYC to Quebec City cruise on Royal Caribbean that stopped in PEI and I went to Green Gables and just WEPT while wandering around (while my husband and mother in law were bewildered with me and thought I had lost it.) It was so charming that we picked up a real estate guide as we headed back to the ship. Isn’t that the hallmark of a good vacation? When you ask, “can we move here?”
Yes I think I will definitely cry when I finally go there!!!!!
Yeah it’s the sensational piece that gets me for sure!
Blue jeans blue!
Seriously the BEST color!
I like the background! :)
Literally at 18:10 an ad popped up for Juvéderm. 😆
😫
@@JoyfulLivingwithJenLefforge Oh right!! I get that. Carry on…Thank you for all you do. Agree with you on all fronts. ❤️
@@cathymichaelson1507 THANK YOU!!
This new set looks great. I do have 1 small tweak suggestion to lower the camera a touch. To me it feels like it's on the boarder of being in a imposing power position vs friendly chat.
I think I’m ok with that, Scott….🤪good feedback thank you!
