Very well done! I love how you went to the extra effort to explain WHY some of the values are there, this is the sort of technical details I love to know, it helps in understanding what you are doing as well.
Ay its been 5 years, have you kept up with blender?
oh thank You for this nice diamonds, especially for playing with colors and refraction index. so it looks a bit more naturally.
Great tutorial! Thank you for sharing, great method and easy to understand, love the way you made the diamond!
OML! ...beautiful!...thanks a lot schwedmedia, you are great!
A very sustainable Tutorial... thank you!!!
loved it bro! thx!!
Amazing tutorial ! thank you so much !
really great tutorial! Very nice!
great tutorial, super clear and simple thank you!
Thnx for this amazing video, i just started working with blender and your video was extremly helpful!
This tutorial helps me a lot. Thank you so much. Keep up the good work. :)
Excelent tutorial, beautiful materials
Thank`s for the perfect node setup.
It's amazing!!

She'll probably think you're an octopus..
@Artist Arav 😜
Amazing video! Thanks a lot.
oh my goodness this is so great!!!
Awesome tutorial
Thank you this is wonderful...Subscribed!!!
Thank you . I learn more than just make a diamond. Got a lot of information from this video.
holy crap dude. You're awesome!
great tutorial - thank you. :)
Just in time! Thank you!
very easy to follow, good work
amazing man, thanks for share.
thank you this is beyond perfection
excellent tutorial, i had to pause alot but was able to reproduce it
Very good tutorial
Oh my god...I can never understand how it works. I can just follow all your steps! Thank you!!
So cool thanks for nice tutorial :)
After the starter donut, I never expected the diamond to be so simple in comparison.
thank you so much for this tutorial. it helps a lot
Btw... just tried putting color ramps into the color input of the 3 glass nodes
Result improved. From blue to red, red to green and green to blue.
Awesome!!!
Thanks
Very helpful, thank u for sharing
WOW, ty for this tutorial, you are awesome!
...great tutorial!
Good tutorial!
Thx, because of you I can finally obtain all 7 chaos emeralds
thanks for the help!
OMG Thanks! I used this tutorial to help me make a Tanzanite Gem :D
incredible
Nice men👍🏻
Lovely, thanks :)
+Sardi Pax Thank u ;)
Works for me!
7:36 Alternatively, a Glass shader is just a combination of a Glossy shader and a Refraction shader anyway. So if you had those separately, you could have three (or four) Refraction shaders to do the colour dispersion effect, and a single Glossy to do the uncoloured reflection.
You are right. Would be a bit more elegant solution. Thanks ;)
you rule! thanks so much :)
der bre hat mir 7 jahre nach dem video release geholfen
To create the diamond (mesh) there is a much easier way. First you have to activate an blender integrated add on called "Add Mesh: Extra Objects" in the blender preferences menu. After that you can directly create diamond shapes with a few clicks.
Add ==> Mesh ==> Extras ==> Diamonds ==> Brilliant Diamond.
Also Explained in "th-cam.com/video/2BdobYeEces/w-d-xo.html".
But you should use the material setup from this tutorial, because it pretty realistic.
You are the King bro , Thanks a lot!
excellent thanks
Great tuturial Thanks i learnd *77%* of blender on _you tube_
Great, I can do it because of you. Watching other clips teach, don't understand
굿bb 덕분에 많이 배워요!!
THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!!!!!! :)
brilliant
Thanks!
Can you tutor on the node compile section, for the lighting? I was not clear on that.
thanks a lot !
A super small unmentioned detail: for changing the diamond colors the plain glass bsdf (with the color you want the gem to be) has to be connected to the first/top slot of the mix shader *not* the second/bottom. Not sure why, the blender docs do not say much about the slots in the mix node.
Having trouble seeing the change in color for the plain glasss bsdf so I tried this but it's just connecting to the FAC and the line turns red.... anyone have any tips to get the color to change?
Neat and clean !
What's your hardware, and what rendering settings (i.e., sampling) did you use?
Did you use any lighting in addition to the environment map?
Wow thanks
Hi thanks for the tutorial, I have an issue when i follow this tutorial . I get Black reflection in shader on my diamond. Please reply how to solve. Thanks
thanks you bro :):):):)
Uh...??? Wait....What da???
Is there a manual on this?!
Boy....I bet a guy could spend a very long time trying to figure out how to do this.
I was just completely lost on all the shader module combining.
Does Blender require a degree or something?
This guy must be a genius...
Awesome job!
😂 Yeah it indeed took me a lot of hours figuring this out in the first place. But keep it up. Figuring things out is a lot of fun 🔥
Thank you so much'
9:11 You could save the Multiply node by chaining the second Add node off the output of the first one.
Well spottet. Did not see that in the video. Thanks.
great tut! but the used HDR on strength 5 causes massive overexposing, i had to tone it down to 1,5, wonder why that is...
still works good with todays Blender
looking for this comment- thank you!
I got everything, except this, how did you applied variations of the material to the other 2 diamonds?, you have 3 rendered diamonds all with different colors using the same nodes material, how did you do that?.
Edit:
NVM I found it, I had no idea you can copy materials =D
Yes I'm a noob.
yes
@A person who never keeps mouth shut lmao
can make a video about rendering, because when i render it was good like your picture
At 3:38 when you turn the top faces (Tris to Quads) mine does nothing did I do something wrong along the way? (Never mind fixed it XD)
Nicely done and nicely explained. It helped me a lot to learn modelling diamonds and my mother asked me to make a picture with something like that^^.
Can it be that you're german? The accent is a bit extreme :D but clearly understandable :D
thank u
I want to know how you arrange the lighting.
after the first step when you add the glass BSDF, my diamond just looks muted and almost invisible. It is not clear either? Meaning i cant see the other sides refracting
What does the light path node do ? I don't understand. Why use it as a Factor for the mix shader ?? Someone please haalp
For anyone struggling in following this dude in 2023 go to edit next to file on nav bar - > preferences -> add ons -> and search extra _> check both the options below (add curve : extra objects and add mesh extra objects. Close everything add add inside add an object shift + a inside mesh. at the bottom you can find diamond.
Great tutorial! I've got one question though: how did you copy the first node material onto two other diamonds? (I wish the hotkeys were shown, but they disappeared halfway in the video :( ) Thank you!
You've probably already figured it out, but he's just selecting the material using the menu, not using any hotkeys. (Same area where you clicked to create a new material)
how are you adding a shader bsdf? i cant find it in the add tab
thx bro i used this Dimond for game "RICH BALL"
Surely if you were to colour the diamonds accurately you should colour them volumetrically rather than adjusting the colour values?
how do you rotate the top vertexes like that ?
I don't know... i did all the same but my diamond looks different. When i start render preview i can see red green blue noise like it doesnt mix. You have kinda pink, lime green color and less noise....
Same. Also, mine's not as bright as his no matter how much I try to adjust the lamps
Does the HDRi make a big difference?
Hallo,.. gibt es diese Software auch in deutscher Sprache?
Why is my shadow still solid dark? I'm using 2.8 cycles.
did anyone get a strange error changing tri's to quads, mine looks weird blender 2.79
Great tutorial! What button did you press at 9:30?
+DerkoalaLP Thanks ;) I pressed "Shift" while dragging.
Nice Tutorial! What's about the HDR dload link? :)
+Backstage Arts Oops ;) Thank you for reminding me. zbyg.deviantart.com/art/HDRi-Pack-2-103458406
if i export the model with these textures and put them to a gameengine or SFM the textures will be there or it will be invisible ?
you must write your own shader or bake
I'm having two issues that I can't figure out exactly why (just to clear I'm a total beginner in rendering). First, I can't make each diamond a different color. Maybe because I "ald+deeed" the object instead of "control+deeed"? And lastly, the lights of the HDRI are not applying on the final render, only at the workscreen/procedural. How can I fiz that?
For anyone struggling in following this dude in 2023 go to edit next to file on nav bar - > preferences -> add ons -> and search extra _> check both the options below (add curve : extra objects and add mesh extra objects. Wooow!
why did you rotate those verticles?
how do i add the HDRI to blender i have no clue how to do this iv only been using blender for 3 days
Right toolbar, click on the World icon, then click on Color, click Environment Texture, then below click on Open and search your picture on your pc. Press 4 to go to Rendered view
How can i export this for a game?
I'm not able to download the HDRi
When I watch the preview render after adding the hdri and hue saturation values and setting strength to 5. Everything is so white, not grey as you see it. But so white I can almost not see anything.
Same here.
In the video he has added a plane beneath the diamond. Otherwise, with no object in the background it will be pure white
Thanks I saw that, did that but it didn't work. I went out of the program, went back in, tried again and it worked. May have been a glitch.
help, mine is still all white even after adding the plane
wouldnt it be easier to use a screw modifier on a 2d diamond shape
then rotating and dissolve certain verts?
Yeah that would work, but i don't know if you would be faster that way. Need to try it though. Thanks :)
