Float n Fly + Crappie Nibbles = Easy Fishing for Cold Water Panfish

  • Since I was successful fishing with the Float n Fly, I thought why not add some crappie nibbles? This is an easy way for beginners or kids to get some nice panfish in the colder season. When the water gets cold, the fish tend to school up and panfish are easy to target. A simple rig made from a bobber, a weight, and a fly (with a crppie nibble) is all you need to get in on the action. The hassle and mess of live bait can be avoided with this easy setup. Try a float and fly tipped with crappie nibbles next time you are out fishing for panfish, its almost too easy.

      Doesnt the water run down the fingers and make the gloves wet?

    • @dawgpost90
      @dawgpost90 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RealisticFishing Eh it doesn't seem to be an issue for me so far. I would imagine the material of the gloves matters a bit. To me it's worth having my hands a bit warmer while i stand there. Sometimes I'll just use my teeth to take one off if I really need to get my hands wet. I find that I don't need to that often. Maybe experiment with different gloves? Even if you have to spend a little, I feel like it's worth the investment in the comfort. Good luck!

      @@RealisticFishing yeah, they are still Berkley Crappie Nibbles but have almost like a glow color for visibility as they slowly dissolve. Same type of container just a little taller, or the ones I get at Wal-Mart here are anyway. Chartreuse is the ones I've been using but they have two or three others in the Chroma-glo line. No matter what, they work well. I've had some nice bass hit Beetle Spins with them after trying without for awhile, so definitely helps some times, like anything though just depends on the bite lol.

    a tip for holding onto panfish, gill/crappie so they dont jump around, is to pinch the just behind the gill plate on each side but just in front of their front fins, just like how you are doing when you transfer them to your other hand, dont squeeze too hard but press firmly, what this does is presses on the air bladder and it "stuns" them and causes a natural fin reaction that makes the needles stand on end, good for pictures *wink*

    i was doing similar the other day except with stupid stocked trout, pistol pete w &w/o a small berkley worm trailer. That day the smelly trailer made no difference and the fish were biting every or every other cast...in these cases i like to crush the barb, much easier to release multiple dumb,greedy fish lol......When fishing is super easy I like to do experiments to edumacate myself...like instead of having a split shot 18" up the line...slide it down to the head of the pistol pete...result in this case= no difference. Vary speeds/depths etc.... But you get the idea if you have consistent fishing it's a great opportunity to try things that are convenient but DON't work even when the fishing is on fire....that way I don't try those same things during more demanding times ;-)
