Thank you! We have another video about the importance of accuracy coming in a week or so. Jack lives in NYC and I'm in Philadelphia with the studio team, so Jack's travel schedule is the only challenge (albeit a large one) that we face when planning these recordings. Best, Tim
there is nothing in this collector hobby more fascinating than getting to listen to these two gents - more knowledgeable than any in the hobby. Brilliant conversation. More of this please....
Tim Mosso is horology's most underrated watch guy - his knowledge and experience is leagues beyond Teddy Baldassare and Nico Leonard who have millions of followers. Anytime I need to know the real details on a watch The 1916 Watch Co and Tim is my first stop. Always
Thank you so much for doing this video. It’s rare I watch such a long YT start to finish, but I was riveted every second here. Learned a ton. Thanks again!
What an incredibly fascinating and entertaining education we’ve just gotten. This was totally thrilling! One doesn’t even need to be interested in watches or high horology to enjoy and appreciate what’s been laid out in this video. Arguably two of the most proficient and passionate watch sorcerers in the world.
For me it's the 0100 (I love infinite machines) the Inventor, the Triple Split with an honourable mention HONORIS I from Haute Rive (1000 hours of power reserve and a tourbillon) so one of my list made it to their list. Jack's article on the history of the oscillator talking about the zenith defy lab is probably the best wording of horological passion I've ever read.
This was refreshing to watch! I love the choices, the Krayon Everywhere is my favourite. I’m always looking forward to any watch conversations from Tim, Jack and Andrew Morgan.
With all due respect, Andrew Morgan does not play in the same league as these two. Not even the same sport. I quite enjoy what he does (at least compared to the rest of the watch "content creators" out there, but the depth of his knowledge doesn't go beyond what you can read from certain well-seasoned aficionados who've never worked in the watch industry.
@@HunterSTyler-lh4cz With all due respect, that’s your unsolicited opinion and you’re entitled to it. I respect and enjoy watching all three equally, without comparing who is better or worse. Have a nice day. ✌️
Been a minute since Jack got announced as part of the 1916 company but i feel like i haven’t seen that much content like this? These two are dynamite together! more please gents
Great show with Jack!!! He is so knowledgeable, humble and completely entertaining to watch him. Hodinkee will never recover from losing Jack on their show.
Great show and fascinating pieces. I still cant reconcile the sophisticated elegance of the watches with Tim's sartorial choices, but I'll get over it🤪
these 2 guys know what they are talking about. For the last couple of years I have been thinking I could see quartz mechanical becoming more popular again.
What a great video format. What an inspired selection of off-the-beaten-path highlights. What a blessing to see my two favorite watch-related luminaries having such a deep and well-thought-out conversation. This episode alone is worth a thousand "Talking Watches".
Two perspectives I enjoyed: First, American watch making with people like Josh Shapiro and Dan Royter. Special people making special pieces. Second, Jack's take on the Citizen 0100 movement. Bravo, Jack! An autonomous wrist watch accurate to 1 second a YEAR. Astounding feat by Citizen. They do not get the credit they deserve.
I had a chance to see them on the same stage as Ozzie until he had to cancel his farewell tour with injuries. Then Covid hit, and it doesn't look like that combo will ever tour... sadness. Still, I'll be there to see Dave and co. Best, Tim
Lovely episode covering some incredible watch brands and pieces. Also, the Megadeth Rust in Piece t-shirt was just a lovely cherry on top! Thanks so much for both!
"The only thing I don't like about that watch is that I can't afford it." "Yeah, we'll, there's a lot of that going around my friend." 😂😂😂 Amazing close to an awesome video! This was a great piece, sincere scholarly appreciation and enthusiasm which becomes, love it. Thank you!
So nice to listen to cerebral discussion rather than idiots yelling about hype Rolexes or simply reeling off power reserve specs - more of this please!!!
Tim -- I do not make a purchase from my friend J. Thanos without watching a 1916 T. Mosso review. your the best in the business- thanks - Scott (Chicago)
That Krayon anywhere is one the most incredible timepiece ever made. I was on a flight and the guy sitting next to me(in coach), was wearing one. I was blown away to just hold it in my hand for a few seconds.
🤘Stay tuned, and you'll also see Accept's "Blood of the Nations," Judas Priest's "Painkiller," and Saxon's "Wheels of Steel." At the very least, I need to add big-4 thrash, Iron Maiden, Motorhead, TT Quick, Pantera, Black Label Society, White Zombie, and possibly some proto metal like BoC, Rainbow, Deep Purple, AC/DC, and UFO to the rotation. Actually, I've got two BoC shirts, so that lightens my shopping list. Best, Tim
Absolutely epic. These was a great and informative video, with great choices. Tim's "design is the great leveller" is a great one that gets me thinking about the army of designers at Patak Philippe, the cubitus and Thierry Stern 😅
I would pick: 1) Citizen AQ6010 (white gold version) like Jack precision and classic dress watch design. 2) Vacheron 2000V ultra thin design and historical caliber. 3) Montblanc Perpetual Caliber 128669 complication and beauty.
When I watch Tim and Jack I realize how little I know and appreciate about true horology in all its glory. Well done Tim. Well done Jack. I can look at most of these gorgeous works of art but cannot touch financially. Still.....
True, and Rolex did this with the locking escapement of the Oysterquartz in 1977, so various means of fixing the hand between beats have been around for a while. I think Jack was just speaking generally because so many older quartz calibers are still in circulation. Best, Tim
While only a small fraction of the price of the watches reviewed in this video, I believe the Seiko 5 GMT with the 4R34 movement is one of the most important watches of the past decade, making the GMT function from a highly reputable company available to the masses.
I mean from what came out as new watches in the past decade none are expensive but they all made HUGE impacts on the industry. Moonswatch nr1 it got millions into the hobby. Seiko nh34/miyota 9075 nr2 accesible gmt to those millions of new buyers Prx nr3 we don't need to explains this one.
My two favorite horology journalists discussing great watches! It does not get any better. Thank you, gentlemen. I agree with all of your choices except the Shapiro watch.
Tend to agree with you here. Although a very fine, beautiful and interesting watch, Shapiro doesn't bring any breakthrough watchmaking-wise. Being fully made in the US doesn't cut it.
It's hard when the subject is a movement rather than a watch. We decided to focus on whole products this time. There are many fascinating chronograph calibers including the JLC 380, Journe 1506, De Bethune 2030, Agengraphe, VMF Seed 6710, and others. But none rose to the level of whole-product significance sufficient to feature in this video. We may discuss our favorite chronographs or significant movements alone in a future episode. Best, Tim
A great video that exposed watches and watchmakers hitherto unexplored by mainstream TH-cam watch channels. Thanks for bringing them all to our attention. Now I'd love to see your top 10 list please!!!!!!!! That would be awesome 😃😃😃
What an episode! Tim, Jack - what would be your "end of world" watch(es)? Let's say AI has taken over, a la Terminator style, or maybe zombies - what would be your watch of choice, and why?
So, like durability for the apocalypse, or just a last wish? I guess it would be a JLC MCEL2 for apocalypse and a De Bethune DBD if I have to be buried with my favorite watch. Best, Tim
When these two gentlemen are running the show, you know it’s going to be worth your while.
😂😂😂 Gosh you are funny
Yes indeed!!!
Jack & Tim, can you guys make more content together? You guys are a great duo!!

Thank you for supporting our work! We recorded two episodes at once, so expect the second one to appear in the next few days.

The energy with this pair is so engaging. Thank you both.
Absolutely great content !!! The audience want more Jack and Tim conversations ❤ JMB

This is the absolute heavyweight horology chats we love to see. 2 legends together, definitely more of this please!
This is truly a meeting of watch kings right here.

The fusee chain favre jacot is indeed a work of art!🎉.
Also the speedmaster chrono chime.
"That's what she said".
Top notch show. The entire production team really knocked this out of the park.
What a wealth of knowledge Tim and Jack have to share. Amazing! As an architectural photographer, I need that Krayon Everywhere watch. Thanks guys!

They will be recording more, thanks for watching!

This is like the Djokovic / Federer or Messi / Ronaldo or Jordan / Lebron of watch journalism. A treat to watch!
More of this please. Wonderful.
Great show with Jack!!! He is so knowledgeable, humble and completely entertaining to watch him.
Hodinkee will never recover from losing Jack on their show.
Great show and fascinating pieces. I still cant reconcile the sophisticated elegance of the watches with Tim's sartorial choices, but I'll get over it🤪
The citizen 0100 is my grail! Beautiful example of japanese precision and design ❤
A most excellent video, gents. More of this, please.
these 2 guys know what they are talking about. For the last couple of years I have been thinking I could see quartz mechanical becoming more popular again.
Brilliant and slightly surprising picks - great conversation guys! Love the Citizen Ming and Shapiro.
A conversation between the savants! Please do this more often. The watch community needs more high level discourse like this.
Noo!!! It's the new dial color of the OP !😂

Didn't realize how much I didn't know about watches until hearing these two chat. Awesome convo 👌
Believe NOT your instinct to feel “less than”. YOU’RE FINE!
I just saw Megadeth with my son last month at Bethelwoods, Ny. Great band, and love your shirt!
I had a chance to see them on the same stage as Ozzie until he had to cancel his farewell tour with injuries. Then Covid hit, and it doesn't look like that combo will ever tour... sadness. Still, I'll be there to see Dave and co.

Glad to see Tim's also a metalhead ! Awesome 🤘🏽🤘🏽😎

No other channel can compete with this team! Excellent video and commentary!
Lovely episode covering some incredible watch brands and pieces. Also, the Megadeth Rust in Piece t-shirt was just a lovely cherry on top! Thanks so much for both!
My favorite wristwatch TH-camr, Jack da man!
Always enjoyable. I would appreciate if you could talk more about the watch mathematics you mentioned.
I can get away with 5,000 views, but I probably can't get away with 50. A pure math show might have to be a side project.
Best,

Great Episode!
Amazing episode! More of these 2 please!
This is the best format, I really like learning something new and that was it and more
Jack! Tim! It can't be better.
Thanks for the video guys
PLEASE MAKE ONE OF THESE WEEKLY!!
The only problem is that Jack lives in NY, so we don't get to record too often. All of our production infrastructure is in Philadelphia.

man seeing the Citizen 0100 on the list. these guys are not messing about. great stuff, couldn't agree more
Excellent.
More please.
Great talk about some remarkable new generation watchmakers.
My guess is this is also exactly what their buddy hangs at the pub sound like
It's pretty seamless. I can confirm that no acting or performance for the camera was deployed during this recording.

Wonderful! Thanks, guys. Super informative and interesting. Love listening to you two interact.
love Jack's reaction to Tim's first pick
Jack and Tim are the dynamic duo we all deserve 🤩
This was some great back and forth and great exploration of watches
like a human sponge, I absorbed information. sometimes even forgot to breathe.
I would pick: 1) Citizen AQ6010 (white gold version) like Jack precision and classic dress watch design. 2) Vacheron 2000V ultra thin design and historical caliber. 3) Montblanc Perpetual Caliber 128669 complication and beauty.
Very interesting video. I’d love to hear more about where to go to learn about the mathematics of various complications

Great video! Amazing watches and makers.
Tim and Jack. Top tier.
Ben is smashing up his office watching this
😉
Best,

Thank you for that video! However, at least since decades, motors in quartz watches don't need energy to hold the hand in place.
True, and Rolex did this with the locking escapement of the Oysterquartz in 1977, so various means of fixing the hand between beats have been around for a while. I think Jack was just speaking generally because so many older quartz calibers are still in circulation.
Best,

love the Rust in Peace shirt!
More to follow! It seems appropriate to feature heavy metal given all the gold, silver, and platinum I handle on a daily basis.

Great picks! My pick is the LM Perpetual. The mechanical innovation of this timepiece is remarkable! Cheers, Amintas
Thank you, Amintas.

Bit frustrating though, over too quickly

No. Its a beyonce t shirt.

Two GOATs
Ok i want the citizen and the Shapiro
Good choices! That would give you a reference watch to set your mechanical watch.

Agengraphe should have been mentioned more, for instance Singer Track 1. Thousand times easier chrono read than any Daytona and speedmaster.
