Swiatek's movement is unreal! It reminds me of Navratilova when she was really motivated to beat Evert in '83 and '84, and Graf when she won Wimbledon against Navratilova in '88 and '89. I wasn't expecting Swiatek to be so emotional after this win, which suggests she had felt a lot of pressure to successfully defend a title. That should allow her to play more freely at RG, where she's obviously the heavy favorite.

Ons has also been steadily improving in the past year, and she seems really happy with her current coach and team, AND she just won a tournament of the same level as this one last week, lest we forget. I think that she can be more competitive against Iga in the future, but she has been no slouch against the rest of the field and found ways to win, internalizing that champion's steely mentality and will to win under pressure. People kept interrupting points by Ons as "out" during play and the umpire can't tell them to shut up? They are all in with favoritism for Iga allowing cheating for her: they've been the cheating for her since after Doha 2022 as they've found their new White princess. They did it against Pegula, Raducanu and recently Andrescuu (but likely more) and they cheat for Iga at critical moments usually. They have played with the minds of the whole WTA players and simultaneously encouraged and given confidence to Iga. I can't take away from Iga being a good player, but it's obvious those with power on and off the court are pulling some strings for Iga. Wimbledon is trying to do the same Novak, knowing Daniil can beat him and so want to give him more chances of winning, otherwise the banning of Russians and Belarussians makes no sense (why blame a family member of a crime the rest of the family committed when he/she wasn't even involved? ZERO sense. They want to play with peoples minds which will encourage these two players a positive momentum and confidence. These people in power are HUMAN first and foremost, prone to favoritism, bias, prejudice and racism. HUMAN, not some robot in a sci-fi movie who can't feel nor a consciousness.

1GA is simply amazing! She always pressure her opponents until they completely break down. Ons gave her all she got but some drop shots did not work with the quickness and agility to slide on the part of 1GA. It was lopsided from the very beginning and once again 1GA dominated the match until the end! The tears of joy defending her title was sweet winning 5 consecutive titles in a row is not an easy feat! Iga Swiatek is just something else. She is absolute beast. She in this tournament was absolutely unstoppable. Iga Swiatek in this tournament over and over again proved why she is the best female tennis player on the planet right now. She in this match from the start dominated and didn't allow to Ons Jabeur to return in the game. Absolutely insanely great performance by Iga Swiatek. Phenomenal achievement for Iga Swiatek. Not only, she won 28th march in a row and 5th consecutive tournament in a row, but also DEFENDED her tittle. It's absolutely unreal. Not many female tennis players were able to defend their Rome tittle, before turning 25. Ons Jabeur too was awesome in this tournament. Only Iga Swiatek was too much for her to handle. Both were great in this tournament. Iga Swiatek truly deserves this tittle. She worked hard for this. And again Iga Swiatek proves, that hard work always pays off. Iga Swiatek is unbeatable right now. On hard and clay courts she can't be stopped anymore. Iga Swiatek truly is phenomenal tennis player. That hug at 8:11-8:23 by Iga Swiatek and Ons Jabeur shows just how nice tennis players they are and just how good their sportsmanship is. I like them both. They both are such great tennis players. Iga Swiatek was amazing in this tournament. In this match she showed her real level and Ons Jabeur wasn't able to keep up with Iga Swiatek. I think that match between Iga Swiatek and Bianca Andreescu was the deciding match. In that match the champion of this tournament was already decided. Iga Swiatek defeated Bianca Andreescu and there weren't anymore any hard opponents for Iga Swiatek to defeat. Aryna Sabalenka of course didn't stood a chance against Iga Swiatek, because her mental strength is weak, compared to Iga's, and Ons Jabeur also from the start was no match for Iga Swiatek. Iga Swiatek is whole different level from others. I think Iga Swiatek will now dominate, just like Serena Williams did in 2000s. Congratulations to Iga Swiatek on defending her Rome tittle, winning 28th match in a row and 5th consecutive tittle. Iga Swiatek truly is unstoppable force.

And may I remind you that they scheduled the final very early today whereas Ons just had less than 18 hours to recover?! Iga was more relax and not tired at all and had more time to rest. Remarkable stats from the 2022 Italian Open Women's Singles Tennis Wiki: Iga was the defending champion in Rome. Defeating Ons Jabeur in the final, 6-2, 6-2 marks the first time in her professional career that Świątek defended a title. She did not drop a set throughout the entire tournament. This was Świątek's fifth consecutive WTA Tour title, and she became the first player to win four WTA 1000 titles in a single season since Serena Williams in 2013. By winning the title, Świątek extended her winning streak to 28 matches - the longest on the WTA Tour since Serena Williams won 27 consecutive matches spanning the 2014 and 2015 seasons.

Can everybody talk about the respect which Iga and Ons showed eachother during the ceremony? It was so heart melting! Not like in Stuttgart, where Sabalenka didn't have the honor to accept the lose. This is for what tennis needs, both are queens in their ways!
About the match, it was cool for watching! Yes, Iga dropped only 4 games, but Ons played way better than the results shows. Not by case the most consistent players in WTA tour. Just Iga dominates with a reason, winning all type of players. The absolute favourite for Roland Garros title, imagine winning 2 grand slams at age only 20! But Ons also would have serious chances, what amazing recent 2 weeks only for her!

Omg I have been anticipating this matchup so much and it feels a bit surreal to me that it’s actually happening
Edit: after watching the highlights, I can’t help but be amazed at the quality of the tennis. The score line doesn’t reflect how much of a fight Jabeur put up against Iga, but Iga is just so consistent, has great shots and great movement. She had no business winning some of the points she won but she did because she’s just that good. Seeing her performance here made me realize that Halep or Osaka will have a tough, if not impossible time, returning to top form if they don’t apply themselves because Iga is looking unstoppable at the moment.
