I really never understood the point of wanting glass on the back of a phone. It's just added weight and another point of failure. Most people just put cases on their phones anyways.

Another great in-depth review and good take on S20 FE. Currently in USA, Samsung is offering $599 launch price for the 5G version and that's a marvelous price for a 5G phone with top end SD865 from a name brand, not from the Chinese ones. Regarding the 12MP main camera, it is having a 1/1.76 sensor which is almost similar in size compared to the popular 64MP Cameras like GW1 and IMX 686, resulting 1.8 uM pixel size, higher than the 1.6 uM in both of those sensors. Since it is not using Pixel Binning, Samsung was able to add the Dual Pixel Auto Focus in this Camera. Also, lot of people are thinking 8MP Telephoto is a huge downgrade compared to 64MP one in S20 and S20+ which is wrong. Those two phones actually have 1.3X optical zoom and achieve 3X effective Zoom by cropping from the large 64MP image and then downscaling it to 12MP. Here, with 8MP, you have an actual 3X Telephoto Zoom range which does not need any background trickery. The 3X Zoom shots looked really great from your review.
In user forums (XDA, etc) the S20FE has Major Touch Ghosting on most devices. Latest SW fix updates did NOT fix it. Be sure to check. No modern brand phone has this issue but somehow Samsung managed it on an S20. THIS is major.

Please, can you do DEX review, wireless and normal one on S20 FE?
Thanks for this very good in-depth review. IMHO, I prefer the plastic back (especially with wireless charging). I totally agree with you about the adapter that should be 25W. In Thailand, every model comes with 8 GB of RAM.
@TechTablets I would only use the *120Hz setting* if I'm gaming to save battery life. The *North American* version only supports the low & mid band 5G bands. It does NOT support the faster high-band mmWave. Despite not having the high/mmWave band, I really don't mind as you have to be really next to the tower to receive the 1GBps speed it promises. We have mmWave already active in my town and many cities in the USA. The low & mid band provides great indoor signals and great coverage outside even though the speeds only average from about 350-650 MBps. It's still way faster than our current 4G LTE-Advanced bands. It's still a great deal for us Americans and/or Canadians who are on a budget and still want to get an S20 series version for 2020.
I own one of these. A big plus is a MicroSD card slot. Less phones have these. I just tried a couple more videos from the front camera and the rear camera, because you did. Taking myself from the front camera wasn't unusually shaky, as you were demonstrating. I don't know if it was a software update, or you just happen to have a crappy camera. If I'm not holding the phone reasonably steady, it will produce a shaky image, but no biggie. You got to try to hold things steady no matter what camera or phone you have. If you're having an epileptic attack was shooting a video, no hardware or software will save you from a crappy result.
I purchased the S20+ (curved) and getting a proper screen protector for it that would work with the Ultrasonic 3D fingerprint reader was HELL. (FE is optical/flat screen). I ended up returning the S20+. Interestingly, the memory used typically was 5-6GB out of 12GB. When I ran many many apps I think the most it went up to was 8GB/12GB. Interestingly, in your Oct 22nd OnePlus 8T review at 7m you mentioned the memory management. I do recall when I was opening a LOT of apps to test the 12GB on the S20+, if I went back to the apps in some cases they didn't fully start and/or it appeared to have an "effect" like you had where it then paused and opened the app (as if it was not actually waiting in memory). Under normal conditions with no apps running, what does the SammySung app say the used RAM is and does that effect also happen with this one. I am thinking it may be less Samsung and more Android. (IMO Memory management tends to be OS related not app/brand related).
There's a very good reason only a 15W charger is included. Most people don't care and they're happy with what it is and it'll last longer this way if it's charged slower. For all tech users, people who even know what 25W charging is, they can go out of their way to buy the 25W charger and charge it quicker. This allows people who care to charge it faster but for the average person that doesn't care, they're getting a phone with longer battery capacity lifetime.
I don't want bigger screens but their decision to make this a bit of a big boi 6.5" gives them a bigger physical heatsink. I don't think people think that way but it makes sense to me at least. Unsure what plastic back does for thermals as well
I love the coming back of plastic back. In my opinion, phone makers should make more plastic back phones with metal frame. In fact position the plastic back a tad higher then the camera island, and perhaps a metal frame around the camera island for protection would be nice. Then, we can kiss bulky phone cases goodbye and carry phones naked and ACTUALLY get to enjoy the color choices for once! I'm really annoyed with whoever start the glass back design, now we are stuck with it because apparently there is no option.

have you heard about the ghost touch problem with s20 fe? does it happen to your phone? im planning to buy the s20 fe and currently researching its pros and cons.. thanks for the reply :)
I would've gone for the s20 fe but I was able to get the s20 plus snapdragon variant unlocked for 749 USD which I didn't hesitate on grabbing for that price. At this point the s20 and s20 plus prices have dropped. The fe should've came out the same time or a couple of months after.
What are other options to this phone? I see the Huawei P30 Pro, maybe Lg V50 if ever available, xiaomi mi 10...wireless charging and ois are important to me
I am not trying to be nitpicking here but you had a little stutter at 3:00 a firmware update should fix this * I was sent here by Xiaomi Group* XD Joking aside this is the only REAL review about this phone the other only talked about the new price range and plastic back and the flat-screen nothing else at all thanks for this effort Chris Keep it up

Hi, awesome videos. Quick question: What camera do you use and do you use a CPL filter when shooting videos/reviews of phones/tablets? I don't see much reflection, amazing.
I use a Sony A6400 with a 30mm Sigma F/1.4 and 16mm wide. No filter I just try to adjust my lights without reflection. But it's hard with the overhead mount that can still reflect the camera and mount
Great review Chris! No DC dimming means no buy for me, my eyes are sensitive to this kind of flicker :( If Samsung ever fix this with a firmware update, please do an update video! By the way, are you going to review Galaxy Tab A 10.4 (2020) and Sony's Xperia 5 II?
Great review and in Thailand only 550 euro for the 5g version in pre order. "Sadly" I have a OnePlus 7 pro, but otherwise would pick one up. Do much prefer Samsung's oneui over oxygen
Disappointed with the plastic back????? Dude i dont know if you did your homework. The plastic is part of changes to get the price down. And what does a glass back mean if you are going to put a case on???
Agree it should have 8 GB RAM Edit: and headphone jack. S10 whatever the heck it was called before FE had one. Why not carry that forward for S10 users who have a headphone jack and are upgrading? It's brutal. The battery probably needed to be massive and they actually chose that. Unsure.

I have watched a lot of videos on the s20fe, and this is by far the most in depth and enjoyable watch! I have a question, would the in screen fingerprint scanner work with a tempered glass screen protector? Thank you.
Yes it does work with a screen protector
11:50 pro video is not video pro mode..?
12:03 there is pro video mode though in the menu listed :|
How many years would this phone last, looked after,in a case?thanks.
Amazing review and structure to your videos as always thanks for the time stamps too thumbs up
Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching!
So every time there's a firmware update the previously uninstalled bloatware comes back? Does that include the monthly security updates?
We got the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage as the only variant available. Snapdragon 865 of course.
one of the better review i saw thanks
Hi, Sir! Compared to Realme X50 pro, what is the better phone?
Why can't we have a flat screen with no bezels?
Poco F2 Pro, K30 Ultra and K30 Pro Zoom I reviewed are slimmer bezels and no notch or cut out
If I buy the US unlocked version will it work in Egypt?
have you heard about the ghost touch problem with s20 fe? does it happen to your phone? im planning to buy the s20 fe and currently researching its pros and cons.. thanks for the reply :)
I would've gone for the s20 fe but I was able to get the s20 plus snapdragon variant unlocked for 749 USD which I didn't hesitate on grabbing for that price. At this point the s20 and s20 plus prices have dropped. The fe should've came out the same time or a couple of months after.
Oh wow thanks for the heads-up on the silver ring around the FF camera. As if the punch hole needed more attention drawn to it!?!
I know quite annoyed Samsung draw more attention to it with the silver / gold ring around it is just silly!
congrats Samsung, you totally played yourself and lost my business
@@housegobin5885 damn I'm sure they're losing sleep over this loss LOL
@@housegobin5885 first world problem at it's finest
It is a pity that the front camera does not have electronic image stabilization for 4k setting.
11:42 - there's also Pro Video mode! ✔️ 😊
Does it come with a screen protector like most Samsung phones?
small question now that it has gotten one ui 3 has the camera bug been fix?
Such a good video, you considered so many things other reviewers over-looked!
Matter of interest, why do you prefer a glass back to a plastic one?
Isn't pro mode for video the setting that's call Pro Video? My unit has several manual options for video on that mode
Excellent review.. I'm thinking about purchasing the S20 FE. Thank you for doing such an in-depth review.
Same here gonna get one on christmas! Finally i'm escaping that iphone 6 and ios.
It's a good choice, but I recommend the Xiaomi Mi 10 T Pro because of the adaptive sync
What are other options to this phone? I see the Huawei P30 Pro, maybe Lg V50 if ever available, xiaomi mi 10...wireless charging and ois are important to me
I am not trying to be nitpicking here but you had a little stutter at 3:00
a firmware update should fix this
* I was sent here by Xiaomi Group*
XD
Joking aside
this is the only REAL review about this phone
the other only talked about the new price range and plastic back and the flat-screen nothing else at all
thanks for this effort Chris
Keep it up
if you buy it factory unlocked from amazon in the US, will it work in Ireland?
How does this compare with the OnePlus 8 Pro? Which would be a better purchase?
Does the 5g version supports both Sub-6 and mmwave or only Sub-6? Thanks!
I've watched a bunch of reviews of this s20 fe and I gotta say. this phone looks huge in this guys hands. I don't know if the other reviewers have big hands or this guy has small hands lol.
Best review so far and I have check 20 different ones.
Please if you have a chance make s20FE vs s10+ camera comparation, really dont know what to buy.. tnx in advance
Which one you suggest me to pick oneplus 8t or s20 FE ?
2021...Just orderd this S20 5G Navy Blue. Coming also from the Galaxy S10+. 👍
Nice enjoy!
@@Techtablets thanks so much 👍 i
Watched several review. Yours the best!!! 👍👍👍
Wow, FE make me want one esp that Red variant.
It ships with a pre applied screen protector?
Please do a vs with the regular s20 👀🙏
Which one should i buy? S20 FE or Huawei P40 Pro? Consider it's at same price range segment..
that's the headphone adapter from xiaomi ,right?
Great review Chris! No DC dimming means no buy for me, my eyes are sensitive to this kind of flicker :(
If Samsung ever fix this with a firmware update, please do an update video!
I don’t get it why ppl want glass on the back,i like plastic much more :),more resistant, feels better in the hand.
It has L1 certification, but it doesn't support FullHD on netflix 😕
Disappointed with the plastic back????? Dude i dont know if you did your homework. The plastic is part of changes to get the price down. And what does a glass back mean if you are going to put a case on???
You must be new here, he does more homework than all of the other youtubers combined.
But yeah, the plastic makes the phone durable, but it's cheaper quality plastic than say the normal note 20.
What's about bluetooth qualcomm codecs (aptx, aptx-HD, adaptive, aptx tws+)? It's supporting? 🙂
Hi,
Is there live focus mode in telephoto lens?
Thank you!
Agree it should have 8 GB RAM
Edit: and headphone jack. S10 whatever the heck it was called before FE had one. Why not carry that forward for S10 users who have a headphone jack and are upgrading? It's brutal. The battery probably needed to be massive and they actually chose that. Unsure.
Best review out in youtube
Simply Awesome review, one more question, Does phone has noise cancelation microphone?
Yes it does
