NO SCOTLAND NO PARTY! Scotland and Switzerland IN Cologne for Euro 2024

- The Scots might not have the greatest team but their football fans are hard to beat! I just knew I had to experience the fan celebrations before their match with Switzerland at Euro 2024. I don't know if Germany has ever seen something like it, or ever will again! And I was warmly welcomed, first with a quizzical look "You're an American", then usually the question "football or soccer?!?!" and then a laugh and an embrace. Among the Scots, everyone is welcomed with open arms, even American soccer fans!
What a day it was the memories will long linger in my head! The blue and white everywhere, the passionate Swiss doing their best as well, and the KILTS!! So many characters, side quests, great encounters (like the entire Argentina chapter!) and joyful moments.
It's days like this that epitomize how football can bring people together, give reasons to celebrate, and spread good cheer. And it's amazing, that with all the liquids consumed on the day, the mood remained cheerful and friendly.
Thank you to all the people from all over the world who shared their time and kindness with me! You are the reasons Because Football is and will continue to be.

@@Cologne.1948 die Pillen , wie du sie nennst, sind nicht aus Versehen Meister und Pokalsieger geworden, sondern durch harte Arbeit und den unermüdlichen Einsatz kein Spiel verlieren zu wollen. Das war beim FC genau andersrum, wenn man sich die Spiele, die so wichtig für den Klassenerhalt waren anschaut. Sind ja nicht versehentlich abgestiegen. Dass ich Ahnung habe, das kannst du mir glauben. Dafür bin ich schon lange genug auf der Welt. Woher nimmst du dir das Recht raus für alle Kölner zu sprechen? Es gibt sehr viele Kölner Fans, wie mein Mann, mein Neffe und viele Kölner Bekannte und Freunde (ich habe 31 Jahre in Köln gelebt und bin da aufgewachsen, wohne jetzt seit vielen Jahren an der Stadtgrenze zu Köln) die den Erfolg neidlos anerkennen. Da mein erwachsener Sohn von Kind an Leverkusen Fan ist, bin ich als Mutter schon immer neutral gewesen. Im
Übrigen gehe ich davon aus, dass bei vielen Leverkusener Fans die Kölner auch nicht willkommen sind. Das juckt mich zum Beispiel nicht.

You have to remember that it's extremely unlikely that Scotland will qualify for a major tournament in the next 24 years - I'll be 75 then - so maybe, just maybe ...
Regardless of the results - these fans made the most of, literally, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity - and were a credit to the nation, making friends with everybody they met
So, sadly, a lot of great comments from German people are because they know they might not get to experience the Scottish coming back for decades, at least
