i watched another guide video about flashing bios with the ch341a and in the case of a soldered chip that requires the ch341a to clamp on the chip directly he said that we should remove all power connectors off the motherboard also remove the cmos battery , he said no electricity should run through the motherboard during the flashing
That's the ideal condition, but since the BIOS chip soldered on the motherboard is attached to another components, your programmer's power might be not enough to read-write the chip. Thus the extra PSU power might be required.

Hi!! I have a Sager NP9870 (Clevo P80DM-G). When I bought it, years ago, it came with just one GTX 980M. So now I bought another GTX 980M in order to make them SLI. I asked for them to send it with 1617 ID but they sent me with 13D7 ID. So I couldn’t flash it right with the vbios from the older one using Nvflash. I forced with the Nvflash mismatch version and the bios chip got really messed up. So I bought spares from the same chip (MX25L2006EZNI - 12G) and spare one from the older plate (25Q20BT) and ended up dessoldering the chip from the new one and putting a 25Q20BT in the place (with the vbios from the older one flashed inside using CH341A SPI flasher). When the new 980M arrived, the notebook didn’t even started if I put it in the master slot. Now with this modification, it goes to the windows all right but I don’t get image (not even through HDMI). So the idea here is to have both cards with the same vbios and ID in order to make them SLI. The notebook bios recognize both cards but the windows just the older one (with the 1617 ID). What can I do to make this work as SLI? I have my notebook with windows 10, both cards (the 1617 one is already inside of course), SLI cable, both heatsinks and even that cooper plate that was hard to find (I have the two necessary units). I have the CH341A SPI flasher and adapters to use the right voltage. And I have a couple units from both chips (MX25L2006EZNI - 12G and 25Q20BT. The 25Q20BT is so much easier to solder and it is the same model that the older plate uses. And I tried a lot of the drivers version from Nvidia and nothing, even cleaning with DDU. Would you help me to make it work? Appreciate it and thanks in advance. I really hope you can guide me to get there and I don’t think I’m that far away!!

Hey mate, thanks for the video, I do have a question, I have a gigabyte motherboard and I downloaded F5 version from their website and after extracting, one of the files is a firmware image file. When I load the file in the uefitools, I don't have the option to extract the capsules, so I assume I can skip the step where I have to extract the capsule and can write the file directly into the bios?
Had a mobo with suspected by BIOS. Backedup up both main and backup bios. At that point, the SOP8 clamp wouldn't attach to either of the BIOS chips anymore without me holding it and I bricked my board. Gotta order a new programmer now and hope this one will actually attach AND stick properly... what a hassle. I'm so frustrated.
Good point. The Chinese and most Intel boards use 3.3V BIOS chips, so 5V is not a big threat. For AMD boards it's a direct fry threat, so better to buy an upgraded version of CH341A that has voltage switch.

Great video thanks
What a nice video
Esperemos que este video me funcione mas adelante saludos bro ;)
Thanks a lot ❤️
Thanks alot!
Good morning sir I have one question for you , I have CH341a and I have clip SPI 8 and now I have clip SPI 16 so how to use with this programmer?
What about programming using the SPI header on the motherboard, can you talk about that?
If your motherboard has a header for programming the BIOS chip - you can use it, but not many boards have it.
@Miyconst but do you connect PSU in that case?
Another person who used SPI header told me to remove CMOS , disconnect PSU and power drain the PC
The less power the better but sometimes it's required to connect a PSU.
Hello friend, when to flash a motherboard with dual bios? it is only necessary to do it in the main one? Well, I think your MSI board has two and you only do it in one. Greetings and good video!
It depends. If you want to have the BIOS in two chips - flash both. If you want it only in the main chip - flash that one only.
hello, i bricked my x99 board bios and now it wont boot, i tried following this video but multiple things happen:
1. at first the program said Error connecting CH341(-1)
2. after removing cpu it said in the console 4 parameters which were all ffff or 0000 so i kept trying and nothing happend
3. the run led on the programmer became yellow and now its yellow even when its not connected
any help would be great as i am stuck with a bricked pc because of a stupid mistake i made
ok.. but how do you put the device itself together in order to start this whole process?
nice video!! very good for all people that never user the tools... anyway , do you know how to "prepare" a AMD(am4+++) bios for flash via programmer? i tried direct flash from the motherboard bios downloaded and got no sucess, any tips will be nice, thank you, be safe
Different motherboards work differently, the best would be if you join my Discord and ask there with more details about your setup and problem.
Can I know why the AMD b450 motherboard's latest bios not support older 1000 Cpu's
Because there are way too many AM4 CPUs and some motherboards have BIOS size limitation so they can't add support for everything.
That's correct. You probably can just write the file. As far as I know, Gigabyte doesn't use capsules, it's only Asus.
@@Miyconst ah right thanks mate
Had a mobo with suspected by BIOS. Backedup up both main and backup bios. At that point, the SOP8 clamp wouldn't attach to either of the BIOS chips anymore without me holding it and I bricked my board. Gotta order a new programmer now and hope this one will actually attach AND stick properly... what a hassle. I'm so frustrated.
Just take it easy, step by step and you will get it done.
what is that thing that looks like an antenna?
what about the 5v into the chips? motherboard chips normally run at 1.8 max 2v usually? will probably burn the bios at 5v
Good point. The Chinese and most Intel boards use 3.3V BIOS chips, so 5V is not a big threat. For AMD boards it's a direct fry threat, so better to buy an upgraded version of CH341A that has voltage switch.
Hi, i would like to use this to reflash my bios that is suspected to be infected. But i am worried about thsi programmer whether it itself contain virus(like badusb) or the driver itself. And i would like to ask if reflash the bios can remove the virus thanks
Hi miyconst, my atermiter x99 shows code 61 and just stays and does nothing. Do I use this tool to refresh bios?
