hi there Julie and Tony, hope you are having an amazing weekend. we visited the Fish and Ships festival in Whitby today, definitely worth a look! that mini penny farthing was a nightmare to control! I will need a completely clear promenade if im to attempt another go 😂
As always, it was a treat to see people dressed in their fabulous outfits. I was rather worried when I saw you attempt to ride that old bicycle, Nick! 😱😬 Eeeek! I loved seeing all the old vehicles on the beach. Very cool. What a fantastic combination of events! Thanks for showing us around. Wishing you both a brilliant weekend! ❤❤

So many imaginative vehicles, beautiful costumes, fun and laughter. The weather may not be ideal, but this fog also gives the competition an atmosphere. Like the bike Nick was trying to ride 🤩

The goth costumes are wonderful but I really love the steampunk ones.... brilliant!
me too, I mean I understand goth is a lifestyle choice. I’ve been wearing black since the 80s and love all the goth music to this day. but you don’t have to look or live that way 365 days a year to show your committed. its in your blood, sadly, some goths are the most horrendous trolls on the planet and want to spoil anyone else’s enjoyment that doesn’t exactly conform to what they perceive being a Goth to be. such a shame.

Guys you do have some great festivals over there in England and this one looked so fun, amazing costumes everywhere. Bridlington looked lovely but soo foggy. Lots going on and lots of people from various places and they put a lot of effort in to dress up stuff prepare. Those cars on the beach were fabulous and so were those bikes haha 😃Loved the street entertainment entertainment too. Looked like a great time and so good that you get to chat to people 👍~ Anna

Hi Nick and Jill, Some fantastic costumes. Everyone makes such an effort. Loved Jill waving on that ride, looked great fun. That bike was tricky , you did well Nick. Terry and the dragon were fantastic. Some wonderful people there. Shame about the weather but what a great atmosphere. Those cars are amazing and Ravens Morris so entertaining. As always some interesting folks and fun tour, Nick and Jill. Hate to see you on a bike with the really big front wheel! 🤣🤣I've heard that these are quite different to ride. Never tried. We loved it!
it really was a different experience! “like riding a bike”, your not supposed to forget how to do it! stick the pedals on the massive front wheel and send you off into crowds that will do it! 😂
Woohoo, Steampunk and Car event in one! Fabulous! Such a shame about the cancellation on the race the waves as it looks like such a fun event!! Wouldn't mind racing in those cars either, but looks like you guys enjoyed the steampunk event and LOVED watching Jill have fun on the bike/trike that was brilliant! Look at those wobbly legs on the bike, that is an amazing bit of kit!! The costumes are so spectacular, so much thought goes into everyone! So impressive. I have to say the fog and mist makes the race the waves event look even more fun and epic, so thank you for capturing it too! Some amazing cars and bikes! Another excellent video, thank you both!

superb Alistair, definitely an event worth catching, or freezing to death for. dying to get back over to the lovely Lakes. off to the Picos De Europa in a couple of weeks, staying there came in at under €51 a night. nearest, cheapest place for the same stay to the lovely Lakes came in at at Travelodge outside Carlisle for a whopping £800 for the same seven nights,
Britain has sadly out priced all my favourite places and things.

Eee by gum that took me back a bit me lovelies. Despite the weather this was still an epic day. What do I mention? All the lovely interviews of those kind people sharing their passion with you? The hand on the man's shoulder ( person in wheelchair), the drag race on the beach or the old timers of which I now feel one myself- I recognised a few by name and who had one 🤣🤣🤣! Fabulous costumes too by the way. Mine were nice but no where near so ornate. That's my evaluation of the content video 🤣🤣. Ah you thought I was going to forget the bike didn't you? Saved the best till last. That was ever so comical but clever to watch. You did remarkably well there Nick. Thank for the entertainment. Signing off- it's shut eye time. Very cool festivals! Too bad the weather wasn't better. WE love how much people get into it and all the work they put into their outfits. What a fun ride, yeah all the couriers and bike taxis in New York use electric bikes. I think we know what to get Nick for Christmas 🚲Pretty cool seeing evryone riding out on the beach.... before the disappeared into the fog LoL Great video guys!

it was definitely moody on that day. TH-cam has a lot to answer for, we had to leave glorious weather and 20C to descend into that gloom for the event! haven’t learnt, related the endeavour this week by attending the Fish and Ships festival, it was absolutely freezing. very moody!

The misty beach scenes gave this film a Road Wars feel and I’m sure I saw Mel Gibson driving one of those cars. However, in all honesty it could have been Alan METALMAN. Nice bike ride with Felix and Nicholas had no trouble keeping up with the bike. Great characters and costumes. You both most certainly get out and about film the most interesting scenes in the UK. Well done to you. ❤️👍🍺
thank you so much Mike, we do certainly seem to be blessed with our fair share of festivals at the moment. the fog certainly made the event eerily atmospheric! We left a beautifully sunny 18C to film this event, at the sight of the gloomy weather on the outskirts we almost did turn back! glad we didn’t though it was a fun event despite the cold!
must of missed you guys last week even though i did keep a eye out for you,i was a right wally in just shorts and t-shirt as we set off from Helmsley it was 20 degrees.heading in from Filey you could see the temperature drop dramatically and going into brid it was a completely different day and was 10 degrees when we got parked up!
yeah same here David, we left a 20C Scarboro to visit this event, like you coming down from the Filey direction we could see that ominous grey cloud over all of Brid. honestly considered turning back at that point. glad we didn’t though it was a great event. Sorry to have missed you 👍

Dam shame about the weather (again), especially as it was nice last weekend and I was tempted by this but decided on the Lakes with my son instead. Some cracking old bikes in the Spa and a real eclectic mix of stalls in there too and good to see the misty conditions did not stop the crowds coming out. Loved the royal wave lol and I hope Jill came back 😵💫but to be honest, those bikes did not suit everyone🤣. Still never been to Bridlington but hopefully next year, cheers Alan
certainly was lovely last weekend, everywhere but Bridlington it seems! ah the Lakes and good weather? well you certainly can’t beat that. it was quite an impressive event, exceptionally well attended. the copyrighted music in the Spa was a real annoyance (for me), as there were lots of people to see inside there. I could place a call to the event organiser at the Spa along the lines of.. “I know hundreds of people are enjoying the lively atmosphere and music but do you mind turning it off when that guy from youtube visits! 😂” it’s definitely got a lot of character Bridlington, quite a lively place. the old town and Priory are worth a visit all year round and nearby Flamborough Head is impeccable.
A bit like that horror, The Fog. YIKES,🫣❤❤

Ah thank you guys. There is something to be said for staying local, think it equals fast monetisation and views. We might have two new channels his year.. BROKEN BRITAIN and THIS IS SCARBOROUGH. Think both could do way, way, way better than we could on this channel. Advice to newcomers.. stay local, don’t follow anyone else as most will only turn up to drop a comment after a seconds view! Rant aside, we know you watch us but we are, at this point, desperate to start one or two new channels! Xx

What a great event, shame about the weather, but hopefully still good for lovely Bridlington's economy. Good job some of it was inside and what a wonderful array of stuff was in there. Bridlington has such a huge flat beach, perfect for Race the Waves. Is it an annual event?
I believe it is Nettie. they are talking about also running at Saltburn which has a similarly flat beach. this weekend was Tanks on the Beach at Filey, except the High Tide meant that unless you got there first thing you would miss it! we enjoyed Fish and SHIPS instead at Whitby, great event!

Such a shame Race the Waves didn't get underway until the Sunday. It's one event I really fancy getting to - I'd have been disappointed if I'd travelled on the Saturday though - typical British weather. I'm hoping Saltburn Historic Hillclimb is on again this year, that's a great event if you like old vehicles. The Steampunks did their best given the weather too and Nick really suits a penny farthing,
not heard of that one Andy, that sounds like one for the diary. thanks for the heads up. there is talk about Race the Waves coming to Saltburn too as it has all the requirements to make the event possible. it’s definitely worth a visit. none press weren’t allowed near the cars on the beach though so it would have been better suited to your camera skills! 👍
@GENerationXplorers Yeah, the Motor Club who run the historic hill climb at Saltburn originally wanted to run along the beach as it happened many years ago but the council weren't keen. Perhaps seeing Race the Waves and the event at Pendine Sands in Wales might change their mind. I did a video a few years back from Saltburn on another TH-cam channel I have,but rarely post on, Andy's Arty Auto Images (a whole 39 subs on that bad boy).

thank you so much Ms Kayak. good point about the local businesses. the event seemed to draw in so much of its own business, food stalls, market stalls that sadly I doubt the local businesses got too much. the hotels and bed and breakfasts will have had a great boost though 👍

Oh gosh that weather sucks! Typical blighty! I must say I'm really impressed with these steampunkers (if that's the right word), they're Hardy souls and always go all out! New Video idea, Nick does the Cleveland Way on a Penny Farthing! Some great, and somewhat eccentric, entertainment on display there! Hope you get some better weather in time for the Bank Holiday when I'm sure there'll be plenty of events on!
now that would be an entertaining video series. it was hard enough walking on that busy promenade, getting me on a penny farthing in those crowds was bonkers! will be in Newark for the first time on Bank Holiday, sadly not the one in New Jersey. they apparently have the biggest traveller community in the UK and it coincides with a Steampunk event. I’m thinking possibly two videos covering both! 👍

Great festivals guys despite the foggy and overcast conditions. Looked like a lot of fun even if some activities were cancelled due to the poor visibility. It amazes me how many people dressed up the part for this. It's awesome👍. Well done Nick & Jill. Really entertaining video.

Wow I had no idea anything like the Race the Waves event existed. It reminded me of the old kids tv programme Wacky Races & I mean that in the nicest possible way. It was a shame about the weather for them but actually provided a fabulous backdrop for some great atmospheric shots. All those cars were amazing though if I owned one I'd be cringing as to what damage the sand was doing to it. Well Nick is it just like riding a bike ? Haha I had a similar experience, after riding one to school/ work every day for about 10 years then never for another 35 years it was no way "just like riding a bike" though I get that the one you had on the video was a bit special 🤣😃I think Jilly got the best treat being chauffeured along the prom. Shame about the weather, hopefully you'll get some sunshine soon 😎😎 🤗🤗 xx
