Creole Grilled Cheese & Gluten Free Soul Food: Chef's Night Out in LA with My Two Cents

- Alisa Reynolds-owner and chef of Mid-City LA’s health-conscious soul food haven My Two Cents-takes us out for a night of hitting up her favorite hidden gems across the city. With friends and LA creatives Steven Gerstein and Mayasha Long along for the ride, our first stop is Canelé in Atwater Village for Mediterranean-inspired farmers' market fare where the standout dish is a delectable salted branzino. Next up is an obligatory taco session at La Otra Escuela Taquería in Beverly Grove for-wait for it-branzino tacos. Finally, the trio swings by Bar Stella in Sunset Junction for a few rounds of St. Germain champagne cocktails, whiskey shots, and cigs. ("Sorry, Mom!") Back at My Two Cents, Chef Alisa whips up the Creole-inspired snack that everyone craves at 2AM: fried shrimp grilled cheese. Yes, please.

This episode was awesome and just as unique as the others I really don't understand the hate. She seems like an amazing chef who has overcome everything people told her would stop her, which I'm sure keeps her passionate about the food she puts out. They also seemed to enjoy their night & that's exactly why it's called "chef's night out" not "please the trolls on TH-cam". Keep up the good work & interview in these amazing talented people!

Maybe because of the thin veneer of the "oh so cool" hipster bullshit layered on top of cluelessly off-handed references to drug use and ever-present consumption of alcohol in the video is colliding with, what *supposedly* is the alleged point of the video, that "gluten-free!!!" and "vegan soul food!!!" are being touted now (along w/ the booze and the pot?), as components of a supposedly "healthier" hipster lifestyle?

I like her ideas on the vegan labels. I really think more people would enjoy the food if you don't impose that it is vegan. Just serve it to them and let them form their own opinion.
