If your cornice shows up on the wrong side of the wall: Select the cornice, press tab to go to edit mode, and then right-click, switch direction. As pointed out by Lukasz in the comments regarding the separate function. If you separate a face from a mesh, it will move the face to a new object, and leave a hole where the face was in the original object. But if you separate an edge from a face, it will duplicate the edge to a new object, and keep the original edge in the original object. So for the example in this video, you can skip the duplicate step before the separate function. Thank you Lukasz!
TYSM. been struggling with the concept of moldings for a week. Trying to extrude from the original face, or create a new object and boolean it to the edge. This is the best way to do moldings.
Brother, you have helped me a lot, I have had headaches for 1 year because I did not know how to make cornices and you have given me the solution, thank you very much
Great tip, what if you want to use your own cornice profile? And how can you make your own cornice profile (say tracing a curve accurately over a reference image)?

Thanks man for sharing this, it helped me a lot..........
thank you for your simple solution.
You do not need to duplicate before separating - separate function duplicates automatically. Good tut, informative!

Great!
For Shade smooth I think I clicked smooth in the tab too. I think it is ok but sometimes shading looks odd. Converting to mesh again helped.
THANKS
Exactly what i wanted, but i'm using it to make an aluminium window frame with an object profile
my corners dont connect to each other. please help?
ARE YOU USING PLANES OR CUBES FOR YOUR WALLS?
THE BOTTOM OF MY MOULDING IS STICKING WAY TO FAR OUT
in rendered view it loses all detail and looks like a blurry mess
It’s the normals shading. Add a modifier like Edge Split. Or convert to mesh, and Normals>Auto Smooth.
