I really appreciated how you answered that last queation- very insightful and heapful. 😉
I agree with you .
I finally added a strop bat to my sharpening arsenal. Love it, so many tools in a compact item. Thanks David for all the reccomendations. I'm a fan of these videos, hope to keep seeing more! Thanks everyone at the Knifecenter!!!
Love the humor at the end! I can't argue with anything you had on the table there in response to the questions. Solid recommendations in my opinion.
You definitely know your knives, and the caring for them. Nice to see.
“Do chicks dig swords?”
“That’s all the time we’ve got today...”
Classy, real classy
The answer to the last question - priceless!
Yesss! The Vantage! I love that knife, I have the Force Select with an all black combo blade, it's such an elegant knife. Just look at those lines, how they flow one into the other!
That last question had me laughing! Also good info on the carbon steel and its benefits.
I have the Praxis Damascus knife and it has been my EDC ever since it arrived in the mail. I have a large knife collection with many Benchmades, ZTs, Spyderco's, and other higher end pieces so I have options. The Praxis is just a good pattern with a smooth flipper with an easy to sharpen blade. It offers a thin profile and deep carry. I did break the tip so be aware of that but I have a 2x72 grinder and put a new tapper on it and off I went. Buy it and don't look back.
Your vids are consistently well done.
Thank you for the kind words Red! -DCA
That last question, then your response ....AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
I like this series.
LOL at the last question perfect way to end it David🤣👍
*CRYING* that ending thoooo!!!!!!!!!!
Best factory edges I've found came on sog and cold steel..
crkt for life
KniFAQ = best content yet, keep it up 👍
We've no intention of stopping! Cheers, friend -DCA
You missed the Kershaw Link made in the USA. Blade is 3.25 inches, not real long but the blade height is more than the Buck Vantage and G10 scales fit well in my XXL size hands.
I've been tossing back and forth between 2 Benchmade knives, and was hoping for your thoughts between the 2 and which one you think would be a better choice. The knives in question is the Super Freek, and the Griptilian with grey G10 and the CPM20CV steel in the sheep's foot blade shape.
I'm torn on the blade steels, and the blade shapes. I really like the look of the sheep's foot, but not sure how it fully performs.
Really looking for your advice. I really enjoy your reviews and have been enjoying the new FAQ series.
Keep em going. Cheers, Mike
That really is an amazing saw!!! Used to be (dead man hands As &8s) great video!
Gold
One saw recommendation: Look into a NON-folding saw. The Silky Zubat 300 with large teeth is still small enough to carry and use, but if you plan on doing a lot of outdoor sawing, the folding point will eventually become a weak point. Having the minimal extra length of a solid handle is MORE than made up by reliability over time.
Are use Emory paper on a strip of hard rubber. Does a beautiful job
Would you mind making a demonstration on how to properly clean a leather strop?
Nice 😁👌
CRKT is a good pick for someone with a large hand but tell your buddy to check out the Gerber knives,
I like the Reate K2, and I like the Liong Mah Warrior 2 even more. These are out of my budget, so what has a similar blade shape and grind at a better price?
Spyderco Resilience too. Not American made but big and inexpensive.
Digging the background jazz guitar. Also, do you have a personal favorite blade profile? Drop point, clip point, sheepsfoot, whatever. I know you love a Nessmuk. I'm really getting into the art and design aspects of knives.
Nessmuk for collecting and camping, drop point for all my other carry knives -DCA
Do you have any recommendations for a non-automatic Elmax blade? I'd love to have a Microtech but unfortunately autos are illegal where I live.
Hi David, I was wondering if you had a recommendation for a good all around EDC for a lefty
David... It would be tremendous of you to do a small video on a few different lanyard configurations on knives and how to attach different types of lanyards to them. from a loyal Knifecenter fan
I better practice my braiding...
@@knifecenter There are knives that have that I would love to attach a lanyard, but the knife lanyard hole or point I'm like Hmm
What’s your favorite COLD STEEL folder and fixed blade combo? (Carried or packed together) I know mine but I’m very interested in hearing yours 🤙🏼🙏🏼
Do you have any recommendations for an entry level front flipper. Also are there any that are not liner/frame lock?
Could you please compare the comfort and ergonomics of Civivi Elementum and Bestech Bobcat because I'm considering to buy one of those two for warehouse job. Thanks in advance :)
Hi David, Thanks for posting this series. It's very informative! I am looking at some small EDC fixed blades and would very much appreciate a side-by-side comparison of the White River Backpacker Pro and the ESEE Zancudo. If you're unable to address this in a future segment, I'd still appreciate a recommendation. Thanks!
Zancudo is much smaller than the Backpacker, whereas the Izula-II would more directly compare I think. Can't go wrong with either, but the White River is one of my favorite neck knvies out there.
I'm interested in that sharpener
Knife center
You should do a review of the Camilus Beast folder.
First I love this TH-cam channel. Second, what kind of oil would you recommend when disassembling and reassembling knives for cleaning? Specifically for the pivot.
I'm honestly pretty low tech and prefer mineral oil: kcoti.com/33uoSXh
Cheap, food safe, and works for more than just knife lubrication -DCA
What are the best TOPS knives out there for an Affordable price
Nice vid.
Question: Options for an outdoor/general camp knife. Blade between 4” and 6”. Cost, between $150 and $275. American made, only. No 1095. Prefer more complex and premium steel with better edge retention. Doesn’t have to be stainless. Prefer no choil.
Thanks.
I would recommend an L.T. Wright. They are a better value than Bark River, in my opinion. There is also David's Nordsmith brand, made by L.T. Wright. Or White River Knife and Tool.
Thanks for the advice. I do have a new gen that I love, but it’s too small.
Hey 😃 the shuffle II have been my edc for the last 3 years, super happy with it . I just need to upgrade to more premier material knife , but can’t find something that’s close to the shuffle II feeling . Do you have any recommendations? I’ve had a cyro before but was a bit heavy for my taste .
Thanks on advance 🙏🏼
The MKM Izonzo is small and light, and a bit (not much) higher end.
Cold Steel Luzon.
Hello Mr. Andersen - can you discuss the various knife steels offered in budget knives and which steels are more favorable for the money/performance - thank you, great work on KnifeCenter sir! I enjoy watching
Knifesteelnerds.com has all you need to know about steel, but a basic breakdown:
Anything
Normally we don't allow outside links in the comments, but KnifeSteelNerds is such a great resource. They do a great job all around, but especially in answering this question. Thanks for the link Jonathan! -DCA
id love to see the top 10 edc knives with deep carry clips. I only carry knives with deep carry clips and I am always looking for a good edc with deep carry that comes stock
The Buck Vantage has the best pocket clip design ever, and it's been around since at least 2010.
Gotta love the Vantage clip! -DCA
David is correct. Dutch Bushcraft Knives has that video of a silky beating the chainsaw. Last question: depends on the girl. Mine likes blades of all kinds.
Silky saws are like wood light sabers. They cut so great it makes me wonder if there are forests left in Japan.
Wood lightsabers. Perfect! -DCA
Would definitely appreciate time stamps in the description to go back and forth between knives
Big Cheap Flipper was my nickname in high school.
... weird :P
Cold steel Luzon for big cheap flippers my man
Sharp video
Question: I missed the Sprint runs of the natural g10 for spyderco's shaman and manix xl knives since I just recently got back into knives. Are there any plans that you know of to come out with ones in the future or maybe aftermarket scales in natural Jade g10? Spyderco needs a custom shop like Benchmade
B Baker I really want some natural (jade) G10 scales for my Shaman!
None that I know of at this time -DCA
@@knifecenter Thanks David!! I asked flytanium about it and they were kind enough to reply. No g10 scales unfortunately yet but they are apparently coming out with probably FRN it sounds like:
Flytanium wrote:
We do have Shaman scales coming very soon! No G10 yet
that saw was a big folder
Love my now-discontinued CRKT M21-14. Great beater to bring on a camping trip, albeit silly big to keep in one's pocket.
Hey DCA what would you say is a good alternative to Nano oil or KPL I've been using Marvel air tool oil its a 10 weight like Nano oil but a fraction of the cost
Honestly, I've always been a fan of plain ol' mineral oil, so I'm not as familiar with the more advanced stuff. From one David to another, sorry man! -DCA
Is there a knife similar to the gulo pro with a flipper by Boker ?
Nothing from Boker springs immediately to mind. My first instinct would be, try the Kizer Gemini: kcoti.com/3ltiTt8
About the trainers of Squid Industries, what's the difference between "Inked Series" and "Non-Inked"?
The inked blades are coated
this might seem like a silly question but why dont companies mix metals to make blades? like steel and titanium for a blade? also, do any companies make just titanium for the blade itself? there are plenty of titanium handles but what if i wanna go full Ti
They already do mix metals: Almost all metals used in knives are alloys. Steel is an alloy of iron and other metals. "Titanium" is an alloy of titanium and other metals. Titanium alloy has been used for the blades of some dive knives, but has very poor edge retention.
What did I miss on the number of knives to ladies question?
You missed the Kershaw Link and Dividend for American Made Flippers under $50
They are great, but they aren't for large hands. Maybe the Kershaw Knockout is better for large hands.
For that large flipper,USA made, under 50 dollars. Buck sprint should cover that.
I think the Sprints are great, but more of a medium sized handle, sio I didn't feel comfortable recommending that knife for this guy. The flipping action on them is much better than the Vantages though! -DCA
A lock on a lock?
Where is the best place to find likeminded Bushcraft folks? And when are you/ KnifeCenter going to start your own Bushcraft classes and meet ups
Does it make any sense that no Cold Steel knives were feature? I think not!
Good day Sir!
Where would you have featured one my good sir? -DCA
Louie C Andersen
Hi
funny ending.
Did you see the look on David's face as he somewhat addressed that last question? It's almost as though images of his own sword collection were passing in front of his eyes. "Who, me?"
You can fit more Nessmuks than swords in the same space lol! -DCA
Hey can you guys help me with a suggestion of 50$ and below fixed knife for my edc? I make my own leather sheath so even if its without a good sheath I am good. I nice steel would be appreciated.

Any other specifications? Size? Handle and blade material? Blade shape?
@@Surago drop point blade would be nice or tanto. Handle micarta but to be honest for my budget I can not be asking for too much. Blade length I feel should be around 4 inch. Not too small that it use cases becomes limited not too big that i can not edc it.
Ritesh Tandon your price does make it hard to find something awesome but based on what little I know, I’d go with either the ruike hornet for conceal ability or the Ontario hunt plus for comfort. If you don’t mind doing a para wrap or making your own scales, the kabar esee Becker is in your range as well. All solid knives for the price. Anything cheaper and you start getting into bulkier or less heard of brands. Maybe things that just aren’t very appealing to the eye. Can’t go wrong with a mora but they don’t edc well.
@@Surago I was thinking of crkt minimalist or maybe increase the budget a little bit more. I have been edc ontario rat 1 recently and I am loving having a reliable blade in the pocket. So hoping for something like esee but ofcourse cheaper. I really liked esee 6 but that 3 times budget. Hopefully knifecenter.com puts up a discount for them soon
Mr. Anderson I would like to get the exact dimensions of your hands. “Larger than average” no longer cuts it (pun intended).
Go to the bear enclosure at your local zoo and measure the paws of a large Grizzly. That will get you close.
G'day Nich ol' buddy! How about I slap ya next time we camp out, then you can measure the bruise! :P
Just kidding my friend! -DCA
@@knifecenter well friend with yet undisclosed hand size, you know I’m always happy to camp 👍 speaking of which, could you bring me one of those cold steel ad15’s next time your out this way? I’d like to see one in person 😁
😂😂😂 well done
Flipper, for larger-than-average hands?
Um. . .Cold Steel large Luzon. 🤷♂️
oh man how could u forget kershaw made in usa around 50 bucks
Nice to be murican, whatever is " 42.50$ " for you guys , suddenly becomes 70 euros for us euro pee ans.
