NSX-R forever! The NSX has been a poster child in my household utilizing the original brochure from 1997 back when they gave those out at the Acura dealer. Never having the Type R stateside made it even more desirable once I learned of it in Gran Turismo. Truly a special part of Honda's engineering marvel!
I've been saving your pictures from Speedhunters ever since I was a teenager, reading articles and dreaming of the carguy life in Japan. 16 years later... I'm letting you drive my dream car ! Glad you enjoyed it !
Wow, what a car to own the keys to. You are living what many people would call one of the ultimate dreams. Wishing you all the best and many happy years behind the wheel of your NSX-R 👍
I like this kind of content especially with Jomoto-San. Please more of that. Also some more technical stuff. Thank you, Jomoto-San and the owner of the NSX-R for your time shooting that video!
Saw the Fl5 for the first time today, such a beautiful car. It was on track as well so it was fantastic seeing how well it held up against everything else racing.
I know its so simple and small, but mad respect for taking it easy and not wanting to mess up someone elses car. Too many TH-camrs would now days for the clout.
Spoon really knocked out the styling cues, i wasn't a big fan of the swan neck style spoiler mounts in general and i kinda thought the fk8 was the better looking of the two, but holy smokes that thing is serious, im sold, solid work!
Driving a little rental in Japan(Demio 1.3l) up and down Mt Aso a few years back really made me appreciate how much fun you can have with very little power as long as the chassis is communicative and responsive. We'd have to be hyper aggressive to even get close to breaking speed limits, but when you're wringing every bit of power you can get up and down winding mountain roads, it does become an outright riot. Would still totally take the NSX-R though... While the FL5 would be more flattering to the driver, I'd rather have that raw driving experience.
from the Odawara toll gate driving the hakone turnpike up to sky lounge, then drive the Tsubaki Line downhill, then driving back uphill.. in an NSX-R NA1! what a dream!
@@dino_dc no, just too much consuming initial D and making sim touge drifting videos, maybe I'll try to make this spoon FL5 vs NA1 video too lol. been following from early speedhunters blogposts back when I build my EK, such an honor for your reply. thank you for always sharing quality contents for us until now!
Thank you to the youtube algorithmz for suggesting this video to me. I still remember the time when my buddy let me drive his NSX. Excellent video quality.
Great video! Agree that the parting scene would make an awesome poster! Cringe moment though when the rear glass hatch was slammed shut, proper was is to lay it down and press closed near the hatch grip.
If I had an opportunity to own either. For me it would be the NSX every time because it's my dream car . I built a 92 Integra GSR into my own type R Integra. White with red leather s2000 seats a built b17. It's as close as I can get to the real thing from 92 . I fancy the DA chassis done right,It would give the NSX a run for it's money .
The very best of Honda Type R, then and now, a very spiritual comparison for sure! Love how the Civic Type R has evolved from being the boy racer of yesteryears (2 door hot hatches), to the refined gentleman of modern era (4 door sedan). To the question of owning which one regardless of price, my heart definitely goes to the NA1, it's the nostalgia and much raw driving experience (lesser electronics) that appeals to me! Another quality content from the Speedhunter! 👍
Great Touge in that part of Kanagawa and Shizuoka. I've driven Izu and a few others when I had a fun car. That NSX is more wonderfully engaging to drive, as any good 90s car is. The newer cars are so good now its hard to properly exercise them on tight roads vs a race track.
Video quality is getting better every time Dino. The colors of the scenery on this video were beautiful. The minimalist dash design of the FL5 is a hit for me,love them vents, still trying to get used the exterior. Its not a ugly car,to me the previous 2 gens were a bit outrageous making this design look extremely simmered down.Have you driven the NA2 NSX, Dino?
i must admit i have a weak spot for the Old gold pure Na`s most because of its pure analogy & soul, it would be interesting if Spoon some day had Na convert the new Fl5 with using the old recipe of the 11k Ek9 with todays technology, but it mostly may just be an analogue dream, but is at least still free to daydream 😸& sure the Fl5 Civic is grow to me more an grand tourer so its surely more effetive with an turbo plant. Keep ut the genuine pure work Dino 🤗Sincerely
Nice video. I have to bring something up that I noticed while watching you drive which is the steering wheel shuffling - this is a habit you should try to remove when driving spiritedly as it will hinder your level of control. Leave both hands at the 3 and 9 oclock positions unless on the rare occasion the radius of the turn requires you to bring a hand across the wheel 👍
Yeah that’s exactly it, if you have never driven an NSX-R (no power steering btw) it makes sense you wouldn’t get it. It loads up so much it’s fighting you all the time with tons of “recoil.” It’s not like a modern Ferrari where you can get away with never repositioning your hands.
@@dino_dc the NSXR's rack ratio is 17.1 which is quicker than an EG/EK with a shorter wheelbase.. But hey dont let hard data get in the way of a cool story 😂
I think the NSX is one of the more underappreciated '90s legends tbh. People are always going on especially about the Supra and the Skyline, but in most competetive situations, I bet the NSX-R was a lot faster
Where's the white socks and clutch action ala Ayrton Senna?! LOL. Even in this video, you could tell the NSX drives like a go-kart and maneuvers like a scapel..a true legend.
The NSX-R is still such a beauty. I only wish Honda had tuned the engine to put out around 320hp, that would have been perfect for the chassis. Best sounding V6 ever imo
"It's completely stock" but then proceeds to go down a short laundry list of mods. 🤣 High flow filter, maybe, but a TB or a tune? That's definitely a mod in my books.
u know what i really hate about modern turbo cars? they try to tune it so tht it behaves like a na.... i hate tht.... the whole point & fun about the turbos is the sudden surge of power!!... y have the turbo and then make it feel linear...might as well not have the turbo
Wish you talked less and showed more pov and drove harder, just kinda boring, people watch to see the car be driven and its just 20 minutes of you talking.
Forgetting the price, which of these two would you pick if you could only own one?
#thankyou Dino

You can’t on the NSX, the steering rack ratio is large. Not like modern cars at all.

How does the NSX-R feel compare to the base NSX NA1? Can you feel the weight reduction and suspension changes?
Yes, it’s quite obvious, makes it so special 👌🏻
Even adding the NSX-R front chassis bars to a normal NSX, you can feel the difference on the front end. I did to mine and was surprised.
