    Always enjoy watching all your videos, Steve. Good job.
    This particular video tells a lot about the semi rigid cases & may have changed my decision on the hard cases, especially when considering that the hard cases are more prone to scratches & dents.

    G'Day from Australia. Great review and really useful info, as I'm considering these over hard cases for my new GSA Kalamata Exclusive. Just one tip though having watched a couple of fitting videos (if you haven't already figured it out)... the top buckle straps get snapped together and then rolled under the top closure flap, rather than sitting on top as you have them in your video... Thanks for sharing.

    I know this is an older video but you may be keen on the developments by Lone Rider to use the Vario connectors and do away with the scaffold or "Zimmer Frame" completely. Couple of videos available from them with an overview and vid of them testing. Looks good!

    Bought a full set of Bumot hard cases, fit the OEM racks and they’ve never leaked, like the idea of soft cases but prefer the security of hard for my photo gear. Overnight simply remove inner bags. The Bumot panniers are also narrower than the GSA bars unlike the BMW boxes. I also remove racks between trips, the bike definitely looks better. Bumot also do a set of semi rigid bags that fit the OEM racks.

    I always do trips alone, I love the big range of the GSa and always have just a rollbag. The more you can take, the more you take. I never use the boxes simply too heavy and about 10% more petrol use. But you are rights its the same bike. Differences are negligible. For me, the only reason for the GSA, it looks way cooler.

    I'm using the previous version 38L-45L with the straps going down. the new configuration strapping on top, will make the Molle attachment option kind of hard to use.. other than that those Panniers are the only way to go when it comes to ADV Riders, they are top notch

    In the UK isn't there a problem with the white reflectors on the rear?
    I have Bumot Extremada soft luggage on my bike (which lock on the frame) and used some red reflecting tape bought on eBay (designed for curtain side lorries ) to cover the white reflecting strips.
    Re extra security, if someone is really worried then use Kriega SteelCore lockable security straps around the pannier and frame.
    Lastly, I camp and to carry the stove and fuel etc in one side I use a suitable size plastic storage box (B&Q) in one side, also gives rigidity.
    Great video, I've now subscribed.

    Curious, what are you setting the torque wrench to for the bolt tightening? Great video.

    • @GreatEgret
      @GreatEgret 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lone Rider doesn't have a torque setting on the bolts. They just say hand tighten with the included security torx wrench. I just used my power drill on the lowest setting and so far so good. Lonerider says to just check the bolts every now and again to see if they've loosen up.

    Saved me from falling during a crash from behind, the pannier absorbed all the energy from that crash.

    Brilliant video. I was wondering about these. When I ordered my GSA I just ordered it with Black BMW Luggage. I just thought that was what I would need. I didn't realise there were decent options. I just thought i didn't want a Harrods motorcycle with Lidl luggage. Nothing wrong with Lidl, just getting my point across. My top box was replaced when the bike had its 1st service 4 days old it leaked. Then after my 1st trip away to lands end the side boxes leaked so BMW replaced those too. The top box I now know is far to small. I remember seeing your boxes on the wall in your workshop. Do the bags not come off the frame so you can leave the frame on the bike?

    • @ABIKETHING
      @ABIKETHING  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      We always have option.......no the bags dont come off the frame without using spanners, however they do collapse down. It’s quicker to remove the frame than the bags themselves off the frame if that makes sense.

    • @ABIKETHING
      @ABIKETHING  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Genuine Comments I haven’t looked but I know why? I’ve used them for a few years now. Basically it’s lorry that does the same journey every week. Goes out day 1 comes back day 2. Goes back out again day 7 comes back day 8. So there’s always return available the day after an outbound journey. You can go for 2 months and pick any of the return trips that are a week apart. Hope that helps.

    I have been looking into the same idea and prefer the Kriega system that is similar plus it is British🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧. I have other Kreiga gear that has gone across various bike changes and it is bomb proof. Mosko Moto is another brand also.Horses for courses so do your research before parting with the hard earned. The principal you are advocating is sound and will get the weight down soft luggage and a rack pack is the future, my black boxes are on borrowed time.

    • @ABIKETHING

      Exactly! You’d need a set of spanners and about 45 minutes to an hour to steel them.

      These panniers seem to be about as secure as hard boxes. The locks on these are, let's be real, also quite easy to open. And you can unscrew any carrier, if you want that. So these might be just the thing I have been looking for for about one year or so.
