  • I decided to try and get up onto Lingmoor this was quite a hard effort for me and when i reached the locked gate at the top I was contemplating my choices and I was at the point of stripping the bike down to get the bike to get it over the gate when a fit fell runner arrived and he gave me a hand lifiting my bike over, my other option was to just to U turn and go back down to Elterwater.
Note to self do not try this one on my own again.
I really enjoyed the descent tho, apart from stopping myself dead with a pedal strike while I was arse over the back mudguard resulting in a seat to the Knac***s
I still hadn't set the sag making things harder by the time I was climbing Skelghyll woods I was struggling like a T**t with getting tired and the rear Maxxis DHR 11 is not a pacth on the Vittoria E mazza's I've been using recently.
I had so many pedal strikes and grounding out on the bash plate and spinning up to a halt, this was not one of my better attempts.
The Sag is now set correctly, sorted when I got home.
Wain lane the last clip is one of the places I have to hold my self back a little just in case theres walkers or bikes coming up but its still a nice easy fast descent you just have to be aware of other people heading up towards Troutbeck

I tell you what pal, some of those climbs look brutal and super techy too, not helped by the wet, I know from watching your other videos how lethal the stone is in your neck of the woods when its wet, as for tyres Bob, I recommend the Maxis Shorty or Assegai, super knobby tread pattern but better run at around 18 to 20 PSI for maximum traction on rocks and in the slop 😉awesome video pal 😉

I was forcing part of a ride so rather than using it fully I only wanted a section I didnt know, hence the fact she was getting very upset at me not wanting to follow the directions lol

After the quarry tough route up through the woods. Or changed route. Hiked that one. Tough over Lingmoor. At the gate to descend on the rough track down to elterwater, the left bridleway down through the woods is interesting

the rough rooty climb was only very short I wasn't going up the full climb up towards Dale end, hopefully now I've set the sag properly and lifted the bottom of the bike a bit it will be better. I was really not riding well on the climbs, not helped with sitting in mid stroke on the shock and lack of fitness by the time i was Climbing Skelghyll it felt a very hard ride overall I'm still feeling it the day after

yes normally we would do that bridleway descent down to the quarry the one when you go off to the left at the gate when you are coming from Dale end headed to Elterwater. The route I came down brought me down from Lingmoor to mid way between Dale end and the wooden gate where the bridleway to the quarry starts ,The whole of what I refer to as Lingmoor is not even a footpath as such think thats why the gates locked at the top . Most of that part of the ride was totally off piste more or less from the quarry going up until I get to the Elterwater to Dale end byway and then head off down the rocky byway to the Eltermere hotel and Elterwater

it handles well but i need to get everything dialled in properly it's got a maxxis DHR11 2-5 on the back it doesnt have the grip for climbs that the vittoria E mazza's that ive got used to have, I finally set the sag properly when i got back from this ride

@@kryten1021 my new bike has Specialized eliminator on the back, butcher on the front, don’t like either of them. I like the maxxies ones I had on my old bike. Also the continental argotal . Gonna change them out soon.

Hi mate have you got the gpx file for that route 🤔

Just be aware of the locked gate, easy enough if you're not on your own or have a light analogue bike , but humping a full fat emtb with inserts in wasnt fun , I was going to have a go at getting mine over on my own without stripping it down as there are some step plates welded on to the gate , but for ease I would have removed the battery and quite possibly both wheels too to make it an easy carry over, The Gpx is listed along with virtually all my rides on my Komoot , starting and returning from Windermere village www.komoot.com/tour/1560974532?share_token=a03ChJdM2L5ctKN8TddmHNm6ACGo2JrbePl5LFW6CbDistQAmW&ref=wtd
