      The new AI select is a major time saver.... not 100% perfect (yet), but definitely a milestone.

      I love the new Object Selection tool! Also, Cloud Documents is really cool to go between computer and iPad.

      I have a perfect project to use it on, but Photoshop crashes when I click Select Subject. Back to the ol' Select & Mask approach...

      I think both processes have their advantages and disadvantages. I like the manual process as it feels more like art, but I like the assisted process as it saves time. It is all a matter of which you prefer. Art is Art, but time is money

    As someone that does composites with motorcycles frequently, yes it can take a legit amount of time with the pen tool, especially with the wheel spokes but if you know your shortcuts, you can do it pretty quickly and accurately.

    Sometimes I feel I am the only one that uses the magnetic lasso tool for selections, sometimes select colour range is pretty useful too

    Hey! I am a beginner to Photoshop and would like to learn more. Love the tablet that you use to draw. Where did you buy it? This would make my life so much easier.

    I prefer old school, but like you said, if you are in a hurry and are okay with less than perfect, this is the way to go. Another great episode as always.

    I love it just because it’s not something I usually do or I just want to practice and it helps make it convenient and easy :) But agree it depends on what the art is for and therefore you would want to use the best tool available to ya.

    It's a nice feature but I guess sticking to the old fashion way will probably be faster than to select subject and afterwards having to correct the selection. But nice video as always :)

    Hi. There's no link to the pen tool tutorial you mention at around 3:53. Thanks for the video and all your work.

    Thanks, Aaron. I live in a self-imposed hell of selecting with a trackball - yes, the Wacom is still on the shelf. Mea culpa. I'll get to the Pen tool one day.

    Not much progress in 2020 if any! And regarding to mask fixing I prefer to work in 'refine' window from the start.

    What's the difference between the menu select-subject and the Select subject button you get when you choose a selection tool?

    • @JandRstudios
      @JandRstudios 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      its the same, the selection tool gives you additional tools to select and mask and refine the selection, I kept wondering why he did not use it. @phlearn, is there a reason you did not use the selection tool?

    Is there an option for an annual subscription for phlearn.com or only monthly

    I think it's pretty obvious this tool needs a lot more work, and clearly anyone looking for a one-click solution should just wait for more progress to be made on it.

      Try change your virtual memory setting to - "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives". I used to have a manual paging file size, and I have more than enough of RAM, but it still cost crashes.

    Why use select subject when "object selection" is available under the selections tools in the tool bar and object selection has lasso and rectangle options to assist in adding or subtracting areas. Which choice will be best will be determined by the needs of each image

    WHY PHOTOSHOP 2020 DON'T HAVE AN EPEN MENU WHERE YOU CAN USE YOUR EPEN TO MASK/CUT OUT IMAGES?? THAT'S WHAT THEY REALLY NEED. THE PEN IS WAY BETTER THAN THE MOUSE..

  • @florenceitalia
    @florenceitalia 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Useless tool for professionals. You waste more time fixing the selection then using the Pen tool. Even the select and mask on hair isn't that great. I am really surprised that Adobe's AI still doesn't work well. 2020 is a useless buggy update (5-6 updates in 10 days!).

  • @davedee6745

    He's still on about the pen tool? Geez, that takes forever. Not everybody lives to be Betty White age.
    Quick selection, select subject, or object selection are all great and done in a second.

      I like to get a pretty close selection and then make it into a path if I want more control.
