I just ordered my i-pilot upgrade and got it today, started installing it and I hit this dead-end realization. My brain starting turning (before watching this video) and this is exactly what I came up with in MY mind... I have to work early in the morning and the trolling motor is still laying in the livingroom lol the wife hates it but she's gonna have to deal with it for a day 😅 Good video! 👍
What color are the wires that are coming out of the board for connecting the foot pedal? Read through some of the other comments -I do not have a black and white wire coming from board. I just have Green, Yellow, Brown and Ref. I have a 24v Powerdrive and am trying to do this set up but can’t figure out where my bottom set of wires are supposed to connect for the using the foot pedal.
The wires that come from the steering motor. They are usually black and white for all the motors I have worked on. It may be going to the main board instead of power head.
Did you draw up a diagram as you said in other comments? I understand the switch locations for the white and black from the steering motor to the ipilot but I cannot tell what you are connecting on the other side of the switch for the actual foot pedal side of switch. I’m trying to complete this weekend so if you do have a diagram drawn could you please post or send to me. Thank you!
I wired up my DPDT switch with motor wires as my line side of switch and I-pilot wire and foot wire to load side of the switch. Both i-pilot and foot control work but it does not matter how the switch is positioned. They both work in any switch position. Am i missing something.?
The middle terminal of switch go to the steering motor, then one side of switch goes to the wires coming from board the other side of switch go to the I-pilot wires.
Anyone done this with the newer control board with the green, yellow, brown and red wires? I got the switch in but can’t figure out how to configure those into the foot steering portion. Thanks for any help!
Every figure this out? I’m running into same situation I have red and green plugged in and can get the motor to turn right but can’t get it to go left. Any tips would help
I see the black and white coming from the ipilot to steering motor. But we cannot tell the color of the other two wires coming from the board that will wire to the other side of the DPDT switch. Can you clarify the colors, please,
It should be black and white from the board as well. Match the black to black and white to white on the switch. Ignore my green yellow just wires I had laying around.
Hi, just bought footpedal no pdV2 with bluetooth, can you run footpedal with ipilot in parallel? I think the switch have not much use if you need to plug ipilot or footpedal anyway…
I am not the expert, just posted how I did this. What is he having issues with? Is he upgrading from an older motor like I did to full Bluetooth and new control board?
@@omieyouknowme So, have any way to hook up so the wiring always stays connected for ipikot and the foot pedal? You should be able to, as long as you have the foot pedal with matching 5 pin plug. The internals for power drive with and without I pilot is same. If you have co pilot those are different
@@jost6953 if your I-pilot from the head goes to main control panel has a round connection that you can unscrew that's where foot pedal would go. Then you would need to add a dpdt switch inline. I'll make another video of this soon as it warms up
I meant to ask Benjamin if he did it to his ipilot after looking at it, it does have the plug so I would have to assume that it is %100 able to be done to factory ipilot. Mine is brand new though and I’m not sure I want to void the warranty so I don’t think I will do it after giving it some thought

I was about to break out the fluke and make a y cable, but this was so much easier.
Thanks man! You solved my problem!

Will get diagram drawn up and uploaded by end of day.

By adding the switch, does this allow you to use both remote and foot pedal without having to swap out the plug each time?
No you still have switch plugs. The switch is there so you don't have to remove cover to swap steering wires inside.
Thank you. Now i need to find me a electrician to hook this up.
Watch the follow up video. I have paper diagram even a caveman can follow

@omieyouknowme thanks. I think we must have a later model board bcx we don't have a black and white coming from the board.

I used what I had which just 16gauge trailer wire. Pretty sure the wires in there are 18gauge
Thanks!
