    I’m really amazed by the Odells. They are not only providing a great service to their community, but to the rest of the world. I have been watching this channel for some time now and I’m thousands of miles away. In fact I’m in another continent. Yet, I and a couple of my friends benefited a great deal of the free experience and information that Mr Odell and his son are generously offering to the world. Unfortunately, I don’t know the Odells on a personal level nor I met any of them. I really don’t know how to express my appreciation to this kind, generous family. 👍🏻 Definitely will pay you a visit when I visit California.

    I'm glad y'all kept in the video the part where the joint was missed by the gas line. You could have easily edited it out. The fact that you left it in tells me that you care about quality and don't mind admitting that something was initially overlooked but ultimately corrected to perfection. Great looking job 👍

    Excellent work, beyond exception. What is a weep screed you ask? Well, it is a piece of metal flashing that is set at the bottom of the exterior walls of your home. Its main job is to pull the moisture out of the walls and provide an outlet for it to drain out.

    Looks good! May I suggest two things? Looks like the drains on the side have low and uneven spots. This caused clogs. On the tunneling, get the piece you’re gonna put under, and cut it down to extend just a little… then get a pressure washer for the inside tunneling and tap it into place. I hope that makes sense . Works really well

    This is why you have pros do a concrete job when it is close to the foundation of the house. If water flows back into the house and gets trapped you will have major problems...in the south, trapped water + foundation = termite infestation. A neighbor did a DIY slab patio and 3 years later had huge termite problems inside the house. I now live in the South but lived in CA for 30 years and settling can be an issue when they get the monsoon rain...all of sudden there's erosion issues. Your guys did a LOT of digging...do miss having access to guys that are hard workers.

    Another great job. As we hit the summer, do you ask the owner to water the concrete for proper curing? How long? We just had ours just poured and I noticed after wetting it, that there is crazing on the broom finish. Concerned wetting was too late and if we added wet look sealer, it could even expose it even further.

    You keep talking about weep screed, and I have never heard of that before watching your videos. Searched to find out what it is. Is this a feature specific to stucco houses? And maybe slab foundations? In my area it's typically crawl space foundation construction and we don't backfill to the siding.

    • @jorgeshicken
      @jorgeshicken 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Where I live, we stucco over CMU and do not use them either. Older homes, such as my own, also have crawl spaces - but the majority are slab on grade. We also get lots more precipitation than they do in California.

      @@OdellCompleteConcrete I have a 25'x35' garage floor that I assume needs to be torn out and redone. My goal is to put a car lift in it, but there are currently massive cracks in the slab, 2 of them spanning the entire width of the garage. It had no relief cuts in it and my guess is the middle sagged and cracked. I'd be surprised if the floor didn't need to be torn out based on the cracks alone, but I also don't know how thick the original pour was.

    @fireyourrocketts ปีที่แล้ว

    Expended hours looking for a good price to do a similar run in my house; I am not using rebar or any reinforcement in the slab which is 25 ft long by 7 wide. Did noticed you did not used expansion joint for the house foundation or at least I did not see one; i using one strip only on the foundation side as house is from 1974. I do have a drain pipe run under it that will go under the driveway slab to later connect to main; no drains on the slab because after the slab done that area will be a side shed/ storage built. In my scenario, the property wall is cinder block 8 ft tall and it also closes the run at the front of the property so mine is only accesible from the patio; I can not use wheel barrows to haul cement from the street as at the other side of the property there is a disable truck parked on the side and there is no space for the wheel barrow to go through; so I was looking to pump the cement; my area is about 2.25 yards needed and that runs me close to 1K using a pump and hose; no amount of calls I could get better prices; minimum $450.00 for a short load truck and $400 cash for the pump was the best I could fine; that is $850.00, now the other way I have is manually; I would save about $200,00 if done myself but then I have to buy quickrate bags 4000 PSI, 60 pounds bags x 150 bags is about $650`$670.00 ( I already had the bags here and returned them because they started to go bad; they were dated since last September!) I would have to mix and pour by myself with literally no help; wife may be able to help me somehow but not much she can do and I am wondering and scratching my head if it is worth it or if I should try and set the short load with the pump rates! I do have a 6cu mixer for the job where I can mix 4 bags every time but being alone I would have to run the mix on the wet side to give me time to do all there is to be done and I probably would be better off doing it in 3 or 4 sections slabs at times; splitting the job in 3 or 4 days? To tell you the truth I am very confused which way should be better off in my situation; since I never done this type of job there is no easy answer!
