OMG this channel is awesome. Ever since a cell phone company bought UnirectTV back in MAY 2013 I knew they would ruin tv. Not to mention Cable TV being the best way to go broke. I told the customer reps immediately that ATT would ruin nonirect TV. Guess what...I was right. No more free trials of movie channels and limited promotions. I then cancelled Direct TV and bought a $40 - 50 mile antenna. I'm putting $140 in my pocket every month after just 1 week of getting rid of cable. I get enough channels for free and with utube and dvd's i've been collecting for 20+ years...who needs that much TV? Get out into the yard and work in the garden. In almost 5 years I put $5000 in my pocket and not in Cable companies pocket!!!

In the 70's I used to work for a local retailer and we would install what was called the area special which consisted of an array of four antennas; each aimed towards the station they were tuned for thus eliminating the need for a rotor in order to get all the channels in the area. If I recall these came from Winegard and included twin lead wire cut to the proper length to connect each antenna and provide proper spacing. P.S. Rotating an RV antenna is done from inside the RV.
Thanks for another honest review! I've been subbed to you for over a year now. Most likely I'll have to go with a larger antenna since the main towers are 75 to 90 miles away. My small cheap antenna is only good for one tower 43 miles away. We live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
Your right Tyler I live in Toronto and during atmospheric condition I picked up WSEE in Erie Pennsylvania for about a half HR. So much for Detroit . I still have the lava omnidirectional antenna . But it can't hold the weak channels.
I was thinking seriously about this '150 mile range' being promoted by some of these antenna companies. I think we're being played/gamed. TV is typically line of sight...70-80 miles. Now with that in mind, an antenna with 70-80 mile LOS will be at the center of an 150 mile diameter circle...ergo '150 mile range' antenna's.... Your potential reception area runs, for instance from 75 miles due east to 75 miles due west of your location.
No matter what they say on the box, to pull in a station from 100 miles or more out, you better have a monster antenna w/LOADS of capture area! Especially on VHF! Even then good luck in this digital "you either receive it or you dont" era.

Bicycle rim ( unpainted without tire and tube ) will work as antenna ! have used this and received all channels up to fifty miles away ! 📡 📺
Another great review. Adding a amp to an antenna can increase the noise. Years ago, it wasn't a big deal, but today with digital, a bit of noise can affect your reception. If you ever get a hold of an American Direct 91XG, I would be interested to see how it works there in PA and compare how it works compared to here. Thanks again!
Hey Tyler. At the 1:57 mark of your video the advertising for the antenna shows that you can pick up the CBC. The CBC? Tyler, forget the 150 mile claim, your closest (by air) CBC affiliate is approximately 280 miles from where you live in Kingston, ON. Have you ever been able to get CBC Kingston on an antenna? Believe it or or not, I have. It was back in approximately 2008 when analog reined supreme. It was after midnight on a cooler summer night in August. I'm in Thunder Bay, ON which is about 1,000 miles away line of sight. It was my most satisfying antenna DXing experience. Never to be repeated with digital television. Maybe because you are approximately 1/4 of the distance as I was you could still pull it off with the new omni-directional space ship antenna you have. Then again, why would anybody want to pick up CBC television?
I live in a dead zone and keep hoping you find the antenna I need. Even before digital conversion I was lucky to get 2 channel and had to rotate my antenna between them. After conversion with a converter box we might pick up a channel on an old box tv. Decided a nice new flat screen was the answer, wrong. Get nothing even with a 20 foot tower.
I had a Radio Shack omni directional antena and I had great success with it. I was getting a lot of channels with it that I didn't get with a conventional antenna. They were around 2 1/2 foot diameter. I wish that they were still around. I would like to take a look at the inside. People talk about what is inside but I have yet to see a video or even a picture of what is actually inside.
I remember the days when TV's went from black & white to color. Some salesmen would want to sell you a 'color TV antenna. The same goes when they went from mono sound to stereo and then on to HD TV. By then people were on cable TV or satellite TV.
People are getting wise about Broadcast TV but not very much in Canada because 3 of the 4 Broadcast TV networks are owned by Pay TV Companies. No mention about Broadcast TV or antennas. People aren't going to ask for something they don't know about but they take their cellphones for granted and they don't realize that they operate on stolen (in my view) UHF TV Band frequencies.
The RadioShack commercials from the 70's advertising their Super Color Special antenna, implying that your TV screen will only be in black and white if you don't get that antenna. Now it's HD and 4K antennas.
@@KevinT7274 An antenna is just that, a device to receive signals. These signals can be black and white, color, stereo or digital. The antenna doesn't care, it where the signal goes to be decoded that counts. I put up a Radio Shack outdoor TV antenna about 38 years ago. It receives about 140 local station here in Houston, Tx. I also have Direct TV which is a money pit. The same old stuff at a high cost. When I got it AT&T had a bundle package with VOIP telephone, Direct TV and fiber optic internet. More people are getting off of Direct TV and Dish and going to streaming TV.
@D Hansel $240 triple play bundle is a little much, I can get my internet for $30/month, tested it already with the firestick streaming a movie.👍 I'll probably use Sling for live TV channels, MagicJack for phone, and an antenna for local channels. That will cut the monthly bill over 50% without losing anything. I do need a low VHF capable antenna though for ABC here.
@@KevinT7274 That $240 is out of reach. My internet is about $32 per month at 120 MB Up and Down. It is plenty fast for me. AT&T wants to up my speed to 500 mbs or even 1 gig but I don't need that kind of speed. People in the rural areas only can get over the air internet at 6-12 mbps down and 5 up. Maybe when StarLink gets fully populated that more people can get it in each cell.

Even if you could pick up a tv signal from 150 miles away it would suffer greatly from same channel or co channel interference from other stations using the same or similar frequencies as there are only a certain number of frequencies that can be used for tv so therefore they have to be shared and geographically distanced from one another. This plan does not reckon on people receiving such out of area signals.
I have a directional antenna pointed in the direction of the majority of stations in my area. But I also get a few stations coming in on the side of the antenna that apparently are strong enough for the antenna to pick them up even though it isn't pointed at them.
Somewhere a rich person has a TV antenna that is hoisted into the air by a weather balloon. Gold elements, silver lead-in wire. Gets several different stations on each individual channel by just pointing it in different directions. The sad part is it doesn't matter whether you get 40 OTA channels or 140. It's all the same programming.
That's true - OTA is mostly crap. Sales channels, jewelry, religious, etc. There are SOME notable exceptions, depending on your geographic area and the HD sub-channels. You have to be a big-time "utility" freak to even invest a dollar to get these broadcasts for "free". It used to be called C-Band satellite back in the 80's and most people abandoned it after finding out that that there was nothing worth watching for "free". If you are so cheap that you can't afford a cable or streaming package nowadays, you probably shouldn't be watching TV anyway. With my Comcast (evil) service, I can watch one channel on TV, while I stream several more channels over the internet at the same time! Just buy a cheap internet device for each screen you want to watch.
A big problem with directional antennas involves the channel scan function that stores channels in the TVs memory. A scan detects and saves channels for stations in the direction that the antenna is pointed. Moving the antenna and running another scan only saves channels in than direction. Each time a scan is run the memory is cleared. Stations found on previous scans are erased. An omnidirectional antenna enables scanning in all directions so you may end up with more channels in memory than you would with a directional antenna.
Most TV's use partial scans along with full scans. When doing a partial scan, TV's will not overwrite channels in the memory, it will only add to the memory if it finds different channels. There's really no need to do a full scan everytime when living in the same location, even after changing antennas. I have 3 TV's and all 3 have the partial scan option and neither TV is newer than 5 to 6 years old... one is like 8 years old.
First of all I think this is a really good video. The audio is good and the explanations were good. *My question is* in this video you have a Omni directional antenna *but you never discussed the locations of your antennas in your area*. *So are the broadcast antennas indifferent locations In your location? I am going to be moving and am looking possibly for an omnidirectional antenna. And that information would be helpful if you would tell everyone if your broadcast antennas for different stations are at different locations. Do you need an omnidirectional antenna?
Regarding the latest RVs being sold with a Winegard omni antenna. They stink! I've been able to A/B a friends RV tv reception with an omni antenna vs our older RV with a crank up antenna. To make this comparison even more unfair, I've replaced the batwing Sensar antenna with a Clearstream 2RV. We camp together often so I've seen the same results many times at several campgrounds. The omni antenna often gets zero reception while the Clearstream 2 gets many channels. The omni will work if broadcast towers are about 20 miles away. My RV is like a portable DXing lab. LOL! I am about 60 miles from the nearest stations. I have another area about 70 miles away in another direction, and more stations within 100 miles in other directions. I chose a very high gain and very directional antenna from Wineguard. It goes on top of a 60' tower. I added a preamp at the antenna and feed the signal to a distributor amp with low loss coax. It is turned by a rotator big enough to handle a small array. There is a omnidirectional scanner antenna a few feet above the TV antenna and I have a 160 meter doublet on a 40' mast a few feet away from the tower which connects to my HF transceiver. I did not even consider a omnidirectional antenna for TV. What I did consider was a pair of stacked beams.
You have to have a tall tower to compensate for the curvature of the Earth to pick up 150 miles. We currently will pick up some channels during certain times of the day and lose those same channels during the daytime because of the atmosphere.
Tyler, would you consider a future Omni antenna video for the RV users? Thinking of a "The Best Of" concept episode. In addition to the benefit of not climbing to the RV's roof to set an antenna's direction, Omni's are more aerodynamic during travel, less susceptible to hail/ice damage and prevent birds from landing on exposed aerials. Regarding range potential - RV's have the ability to climb hills to take advantage of local terrain features for elevation.
@@AntennaMan maybe that 150 miles really means 75 miles radius from the front to back which would equal 150 miles but since it's a omni maybe they should label it up to 300 miles since it may get some stations from 4 different directions.
It sounds like this antenna's performance is fairly typical for its price. If money is no object, you could get a directional antenna and a rotater, but when I shopped around for that two years ago, the total cost was around $300 if you do it yourself.
No. If you go into a city sim, build a model of the area between you and the towers, bulldoze out the structures and all other features and flatten the terrain. Then it might work. You might need a hack and a huge amount of RAM though. None of the sims I know of support a large enough map area by default but gobble that ram anyway.
Don't like omni directional UHF antennas they don't perform as well as directional antennas (from my experience) But for those who don't know where the broadcast tower or there are multiple towers then it's a decent choice.
I had a new 70 mile RCA ANTENNA installed on my roof and pointed toward Memphis and getting a lot of Memphis channels , I live in Jonesboro Arkansas . Problem is I can get my two local channels in my bedroom , but the closest one which is probably three miles away will not come in in my living room which is the closest to the cable run . I'm baffled , somebody told me it could be the splitter. I'm not going too rotate the antenna , roofs too steep . Of course I know when cooler weather gets here I'll probably get more stations , but would like too get my local 8.1 channel ABC channel which it rebroadcast NBC, and the CW network also . Any food for thought , like I said I'm baffled ( closest station not coming in ) ? Tryed to manually key it in too .......... no results.....
I can testify to when an amp is not needed. My ant came with one, so I used it a year ago. I got about 28 channels, which was fine with me. Today, I was rerouting some wires and accidently unplugged it. The wife told me the tv seems to come in better. I thought about it, removed the amp completely, rescanned & now I get 55 channels!

When I was a kid, I had to hold the tin foil squished onto the end of the built in rabbit ears of our black & white tv console to watch Bill Kennedy, Batman, Bewitched, Gunsmoke, & a bunch of other silly tv shows. I remember my mom watching Dark Shadows. She would holler for me, & say, "Billy, do your tv trick." I would come downstairs & fiddle with the rabbit ears with the foil ball on each, grab hold of one, & she would yell out " that's perfect! Stay right there!" (I hated the double presentations)

All antennas on my channel are tested at the same location. It doesn't matter if it's ten feet or one hundred feet above ground. If one antenna is having trouble with a channel in the EXACT SAME location as another antenna it's junk.

Tyler I love the channel but it’s time for some real test gear. I know a old network analyzer is still very pricy but you can make a more precise measurable difference between various antennas. Consider the Sencore SLM 1530. It has a demod for 3.0. It’ll also show you echo patterns for 3.0, constellations for 1.0, MER and signal level. Keep up the good work!
I am in an rv and use lte data for media currently but was looking into options for tv signal, I have yet to find antenna solutions for lte and tv that provide mimo lte as well as tv signals while being directional. There have been some omnidirectional lte/WiFi antennas but idk how well they work, any thoughts?
We live in a rural area and live 50 miles away from one broadcast tower and 60 miles away from the other 3. Up until about March of this year we were getting about 24 different channel from the omni direction antenna. After the rescan we only get 3. What antenna do you recommend we use.
Good advice on this video. It cerainly highlights the facts over the "snake oil" peddled by the advertising guys. One of the limiting factors with these amplified antennas is often the amount of noise generated by the RF amp. Could you monitor the signal to noise ratio of different systems rather than just the signal strength?

Your disclaimer about hd antennas reminded me of way back in caveman times when most tvs were black and white and most houses had rooftop antennas, my dad worked in an appliance store not unlike modern day Best Buy. Anyway, color tv was just making an appearance and the antenna manufacturers were painting regular antennas gold , charging signuficantly more for them and marketing them as "color tv" antennas. My dad used to laugh about it . An antenna's an antenna.
Best HD Digital antenna? Paper clip! (gets shot) Actually, there are plenty of TH-cam videos boasting about how fantastic a paper clip and an amplifier are. Back in the '80s during a cable outage, my oldest brother placed a finger from one hand of my middle brother onto one 300 ohm, VHF terminal screw of the living room TV, and made the the other hand give the middle finger. It worked in a pinch. It's hard to watch TV with your finger on a terminal screw, though. Digital isn't as forgiving though.
I have the 1byone reviewed on my roof, a high wind turned it, lost a VHF low (Channel 6, Philadelphia market). Does anyone know if I can add a rooftop diplexer and add a VHF antenna without interfering with the pre-amp and amp supplied by 1byone? Frustrating. Also, I thought this antenna was omni directional, why would direction affect the performance? Strange. Thanks

Hello Antenna Man, I live in a small town 30 miles southeast of Austin Texas. Do you know of a resource to find a qualified local consultant who could test/check signals etc. at my home and recommend equipment that would work best at my specific location? Where does one look for help like this when all this tech stuff is over my head, but I am very motivated to cut the cord.
I've said it before in comments on here. 150 miles once does not mean that you will consistently get 150 miles all day all the time. Anyone with even the faint knowledge of antennas know this. If there was an antenna that was capable of 150 miles all the time I would purchase it because I'd get 140 channels from every area. From the thumb of Michigan I had Columbus, OH, but that was a once in a season thing. That doesn't mean I have an antenna that goes 230 miles. Columbus is that far from me.

Try 70 feet. No joke. Me and my dad did this years ago at his old house. We got stations from 200 miles away.
I had a Radio Shack omni directional antena and I had great success with it. I was getting a lot of channels with it that I didn't get with a conventional antenna. They were around 2 1/2 foot diameter.
I wish that they were still around.
I would like to take a look at the inside. People talk about what is inside but I have yet to see a video or even a picture of what is actually inside.

I remember the days when TV's went from black & white to color. Some salesmen would want to sell you a 'color TV antenna. The same goes when they went from mono sound to stereo and then on to HD TV. By then people were on cable TV or satellite TV.
People are getting wise about Broadcast TV but not very much in Canada because 3 of the 4 Broadcast TV networks are owned by Pay TV Companies. No mention about Broadcast TV or antennas. People aren't going to ask for something they don't know about but they take their cellphones for granted and they don't realize that they operate on stolen (in my view) UHF TV Band frequencies.
The RadioShack commercials from the 70's advertising their Super Color Special antenna, implying that your TV screen will only be in black and white if you don't get that antenna. Now it's HD and 4K antennas.
@@KevinT7274 An antenna is just that, a device to receive signals. These signals can be black and white, color, stereo or digital. The antenna doesn't care, it where the signal goes to be decoded that counts.
I put up a Radio Shack outdoor TV antenna about 38 years ago. It receives about 140 local station here in Houston, Tx.
I also have Direct TV which is a money pit. The same old stuff at a high cost. When I got it AT&T had a bundle package with VOIP telephone, Direct TV and fiber optic internet.
More people are getting off of Direct TV and Dish and going to streaming TV.
@D Hansel $240 triple play bundle is a little much, I can get my internet for $30/month, tested it already with the firestick streaming a movie.👍 I'll probably use Sling for live TV channels, MagicJack for phone, and an antenna for local channels. That will cut the monthly bill over 50% without losing anything. I do need a low VHF capable antenna though for ABC here.

AT&T wants to up my speed to 500 mbs or even 1 gig but I don't need that kind of speed.
People in the rural areas only can get over the air internet at 6-12 mbps down and 5 up.
Maybe when StarLink gets fully populated that more people can get it in each cell.
OMG this channel is awesome. Ever since a cell phone company bought Direct TV back in MAY 2013 I knew they would ruin tv. Not to mention Cable TV being the best way to go broke. I told the customer reps immediately that ATT would ruin Direct TV. Guess what...I was right. No more free trials of movie channels and limited promotions. I then cancelled Direct TV and bought a $40 - 50 mile antenna. I'm putting $140 in my pocket every month after just 1 week of getting rid of cable. I get enough channels for free and with utube and dvd's i've been collecting for 20+ years...who needs that much TV? Get out into the yard and work in the garden. In almost 5 years I put $5000 in my pocket and not in Cable companies pocket!!!
Even if you could pick up a tv signal from 150 miles away it would suffer greatly from same channel or co channel interference from other stations using the same or similar frequencies as there are only a certain number of frequencies that can be used for tv so therefore they have to be shared and geographically distanced from one another. This plan does not reckon on people receiving such out of area signals.

I have a directional antenna pointed in the direction of the majority of stations in my area. But I also get a few stations coming in on the side of the antenna that apparently are strong enough for the antenna to pick them up even though it isn't pointed at them.
Somewhere a rich person has a TV antenna that is hoisted into the air by a weather balloon. Gold elements, silver lead-in wire. Gets several different stations on each individual channel by just pointing it in different directions.
The sad part is it doesn't matter whether you get 40 OTA channels or 140. It's all the same programming.
That's true - OTA is mostly crap. Sales channels, jewelry, religious, etc. There are SOME notable exceptions, depending on your geographic area and the HD sub-channels. You have to be a big-time "utility" freak to even invest a dollar to get these broadcasts for "free". It used to be called C-Band satellite back in the 80's and most people abandoned it after finding out that that there was nothing worth watching for "free". If you are so cheap that you can't afford a cable or streaming package nowadays, you probably shouldn't be watching TV anyway. With my Comcast (evil) service, I can watch one channel on TV, while I stream several more channels over the internet at the same time! Just buy a cheap internet device for each screen you want to watch.
I have added HD, color, and digital capabilities to my antenna and the images are as clear as a bell. :)
A big problem with directional antennas involves the channel scan function that stores channels in the TVs memory. A scan detects and saves channels for stations in the direction that the antenna is pointed. Moving the antenna and running another scan only saves channels in than direction. Each time a scan is run the memory is cleared. Stations found on previous scans are erased. An omnidirectional antenna enables scanning in all directions so you may end up with more channels in memory than you would with a directional antenna.

Most TV's use partial scans along with full scans. When doing a partial scan, TV's will not overwrite channels in the memory, it will only add to the memory if it finds different channels. There's really no need to do a full scan everytime when living in the same location, even after changing antennas. I have 3 TV's and all 3 have the partial scan option and neither TV is newer than 5 to 6 years old... one is like 8 years old.
First of all I think this is a really good video. The audio is good and the explanations were good. *My question is* in this video you have a Omni directional antenna *but you never discussed the locations of your antennas in your area*. *So are the broadcast antennas indifferent locations
In your location? I am going to be moving and am looking possibly for an omnidirectional antenna. And that information would be helpful if you would tell everyone if your broadcast antennas for different stations are at different locations. Do you need an omnidirectional antenna?
Regarding the latest RVs being sold with a Winegard omni antenna. They stink! I've been able to A/B a friends RV tv reception with an omni antenna vs our older RV with a crank up antenna. To make this comparison even more unfair, I've replaced the batwing Sensar antenna with a Clearstream 2RV. We camp together often so I've seen the same results many times at several campgrounds. The omni antenna often gets zero reception while the Clearstream 2 gets many channels. The omni will work if broadcast towers are about 20 miles away. My RV is like a portable DXing lab. LOL! Except there often was at least a grain of truth as many had more elements and/or fatter elements so they potentially received a stronger signal...
They often had a little thicker elements. That was to increase the bandwidth.

I am about 60 miles from the nearest stations. I have another area about 70 miles away in another direction, and more stations within 100 miles in other directions. I chose a very high gain and very directional antenna from Wineguard. It goes on top of a 60' tower. I added a preamp at the antenna and feed the signal to a distributor amp with low loss coax. It is turned by a rotator big enough to handle a small array. There is a omnidirectional scanner antenna a few feet above the TV antenna and I have a 160 meter doublet on a 40' mast a few feet away from the tower which connects to my HF transceiver. I did not even consider a omnidirectional antenna for TV. What I did consider was a pair of stacked beams.

You have to have a tall tower to compensate for the curvature of the Earth to pick up 150 miles. We currently will pick up some channels during certain times of the day and lose those same channels during the daytime because of the atmosphere.
Tyler, would you consider a future Omni antenna video for the RV users? Thinking of a "The Best Of" concept episode. In addition to the benefit of not climbing to the RV's roof to set an antenna's direction, Omni's are more aerodynamic during travel, less susceptible to hail/ice damage and prevent birds from landing on exposed aerials. Regarding range potential - RV's have the ability to climb hills to take advantage of local terrain features for elevation.

@@AntennaMan maybe that 150 miles really means 75 miles radius from the front to back which would equal 150 miles but since it's a omni maybe they should label it up to 300 miles since it may get some stations from 4 different directions.

It sounds like this antenna's performance is fairly typical for its price. If money is no object, you could get a directional antenna and a rotater, but when I shopped around for that two years ago, the total cost was around $300 if you do it yourself.

No. If you go into a city sim, build a model of the area between you and the towers, bulldoze out the structures and all other features and flatten the terrain. Then it might work. You might need a hack and a huge amount of RAM though. None of the sims I know of support a large enough map area by default but gobble that ram anyway.
I have the smaller omni1 on my campervan with the amplifier and it works great in the city. In the woods not so much but I’m ok with that.
Don't like omni directional UHF antennas they don't perform as well as directional antennas (from my experience) But for those who don't know where the broadcast tower or there are multiple towers then it's a decent choice.

I had a new 70 mile RCA ANTENNA installed on my roof and pointed toward Memphis and getting a lot of Memphis channels , I live in Jonesboro Arkansas . Problem is I can get my two local channels in my bedroom , but the closest one which is probably three miles away will not come in in my living room which is the closest to the cable run . I'm baffled , somebody told me it could be the splitter. I'm not going too rotate the antenna , roofs too steep . Of course I know when cooler weather gets here I'll probably get more stations , but would like too get my local 8.1 channel ABC channel which it rebroadcast NBC, and the CW network also . Any food for thought , like I said I'm baffled ( closest station not coming in ) ? Tryed to manually key it in too .......... no results.....

I can testify to when an amp is not needed. My ant came with one, so I used it a year ago. I got about 28 channels, which was fine with me. Today, I was rerouting some wires and accidently unplugged it. The wife told me the tv seems to come in better. I thought about it, removed the amp completely, rescanned & now I get 55 channels!
Although time of year and weather can affect reception. And channels have changed since the reallocation. Some come in stronger than before.
Amplifiers don't just amplify signal, They also amplify noise.

Awe hell, I can alter my reception by moving a metal TV tray a couple inches that's located 10ft away from the antenna and TV.

When I was a kid, I had to hold the tin foil squished onto the end of the built in rabbit ears of our black & white tv console to watch Bill Kennedy, Batman, Bewitched, Gunsmoke, & a bunch of other silly tv shows. I remember my mom watching Dark Shadows. She would holler for me, & say, "Billy, do your tv trick." I would come downstairs & fiddle with the rabbit ears with the foil ball on each, grab hold of one, & she would yell out " that's perfect! Stay right there!" (I hated the double presentations)

It's nothing special. It also lacks VHF capability. Stay with brand names.

What if you get the Antenna above tree tops for a clear line of sight
All antennas on my channel are tested at the same location. It doesn't matter if it's ten feet or one hundred feet above ground. If one antenna is having trouble with a channel in the EXACT SAME location as another antenna it's junk.

If they don't have enough gain to bring the signal up to where the TV can decode it then they "won't work."
Tyler I love the channel but it’s time for some real test gear. I know a old network analyzer is still very pricy but you can make a more precise measurable difference between various antennas. Consider the Sencore SLM 1530. It has a demod for 3.0. It’ll also show you echo patterns for 3.0, constellations for 1.0, MER and signal level. Keep up the good work!
I am in an rv and use lte data for media currently but was looking into options for tv signal, I have yet to find antenna solutions for lte and tv that provide mimo lte as well as tv signals while being directional. There have been some omnidirectional lte/WiFi antennas but idk how well they work, any thoughts?

We live in a rural area and live 50 miles away from one broadcast tower and 60 miles away from the other 3. Up until about March of this year we were getting about 24 different channel from the omni direction antenna. After the rescan we only get 3. What antenna do you recommend we use.

Good advice on this video. It cerainly highlights the facts over the "snake oil" peddled by the advertising guys. One of the limiting factors with these amplified antennas is often the amount of noise generated by the RF amp. Could you monitor the signal to noise ratio of different systems rather than just the signal strength?
Hi Tyler. Can you please help. I live very rural i can not do a big outdoor antenna. My daughter lives roughly 25 miles from me and picks up about 15 stations with a tiny 10 dollar antenna I get 4. If I were to buy a 50 or 100 mile antenna might I get more stations? If so what do you recommend.? Thank you.

Your disclaimer about hd antennas reminded me of way back in caveman times when most tvs were black and white and most houses had rooftop antennas, my dad worked in an appliance store not unlike modern day Best Buy. Anyway, color tv was just making an appearance and the antenna manufacturers were painting regular antennas gold , charging signuficantly more for them and marketing them as "color tv" antennas. My dad used to laugh about it . An antenna's an antenna.

Best HD Digital antenna? Paper clip! (gets shot) Actually, there are plenty of TH-cam videos boasting about how fantastic a paper clip and an amplifier are. Back in the '80s during a cable outage, my oldest brother placed a finger from one hand of my middle brother onto one 300 ohm, VHF terminal screw of the living room TV, and made the the other hand give the middle finger. It worked in a pinch. It's hard to watch TV with your finger on a terminal screw, though. Digital isn't as forgiving though.

I have the 1byone reviewed on my roof, a high wind turned it, lost a VHF low (Channel 6, Philadelphia market). Does anyone know if I can add a rooftop diplexer and add a VHF antenna without interfering with the pre-amp and amp supplied by 1byone? Frustrating. Also, I thought this antenna was omni directional, why would direction affect the performance? Strange. Thanks

I've said it before in comments on here. 150 miles once does not mean that you will consistently get 150 miles all day all the time. Anyone with even the faint knowledge of antennas know this. If there was an antenna that was capable of 150 miles all the time I would purchase it because I'd get 140 channels from every area. From the thumb of Michigan I had Columbus, OH, but that was a once in a season thing. That doesn't mean I have an antenna that goes 230 miles. Columbus is that far from me.
