He did do better in kickboxing than some Muay Thai champions though. The Muay Thai GOAT would go to someone like Samart, Saenchai, Dieselnoi or Sagat etc... All multiple Muay Thai champions of their respective eras. Buakaw probably did more to put Muay Thai on a global stage than any other though, he is a legend. Kaoklai is a legend as well though in his own right, that guy had a set of balls.

I had the fortune to attend to a Buakaw fight almost by accident. I didnt know he was going to perform near town when a girl friend sold me her tickets. I cried during the whole fight screamimg like a fucking psyco. To watch Buakaw fighting it's like a fucking Michael Jackson concert.

I trained with Buakaw at a seminar over 10 years ago. His stamina and ringcraft was off the scale. Solid lean muscle from head to toe, an absolute machine. Didn't speak any English at the time, just nods and gestures but was a fantastic experience.
The Thai's are the best long-game fighters around. They let you fight for the first few rounds, they see what your style is, they assess what your timing is and recurring movements are, then they break you.
