After finishing this game I must say Tempest is better than people say. It had issues, but I can't say i didn't have fun playing this. My biggest problems were probably inability to change artes and equipment during battles, as well the overworld - it was very empty and movement in it felt very slow.
@@alvarochaves1999playing this two years later and I don’t really mind the random encounters but it is kind of annoying that even with holy bottles don’t ward off enemies that well. I just want to rush to a town and it takes like twice as long as it should because I keep running into battles
Just discovered your videos on the series. They're great! Thanks for covering them. I'm looking forward to seeing your thoughts on Innocence, it's a pretty great NDS entry for the series.
I think the problems were more to do with budget than the DS' specs. Developers didn't really expect DS to succeed at first so didn't allocate much budget to DS projects. After the console took off in 2006 or so, they started throwing more resources behind DS projects.
@@SormonAusPol well, i don't really blame them on destiny 2 it's probably the most unappealing looking tales of i would have liked to see translated both original hearts and tales of rebirth, also radiant mythology 2 and 3
@@gabriels9919 Unappealing? I think you forget that a lot of people played Destiny 1 and want to know what happened following the 1st game. ToD2 is also a really good looking 2D Tales game. I recomend wathcing my retrospetive on it to see that its not unappealing, in fact lots of people love the game myself included.
Actually, their translator was working with someone on a translation of Hearts before this game, but they put it on hold after the announcement that Hearts R would get an official translation. It's never going to be resumed either, given that he has since disowned his past work after coming to the conclusion that fan translations are actually evil. The other guy has also stated that he'll respect his wishes and leave it unfinished. So all that work was for nothing. Just like all the resources Absolute Zero invested into three other canceled translations.
Thanks for the review! I totally forgot about this game. Time to dig in! 😎 Don't think this one came to the west right? I should look into getting it if so.
Here, however these are way over priced for what your getting. Its a DS flash card with the translation dumped onto it. It should not be worth more than $20 AUD. I got Phantasia dumped on a SNES catriage for like $13, thats what you should be paying. www.etsy.com/au/listing/1555576910/tales-of-the-tempest-english-ds?click_key=a01560c1e59fa4cf360947baba665430e56eb719%3A1555576910&click_sum=634bf8f1&external=1&rec_type=ss&ref=pla_similar_listing_top-1&cns=1
I remember when a friend tried to play The Game. To drop it in a hour because it was too much for him, certified tempest moment💀
Thank you for continuing the series.

The random encounters helped me to not feel bored with the overworld.

Three characters on three lines, name checks out!

It's still sad that absolute zero translates this game but not hearts which is a contender for the best tale of game
I'm more annoyed they didn't do Destiny 2 or Rebirth.

Wait why are fan translation evil? :0
If this game got a proper remake with all the problems fixed, I'd buy it.

Its still one I wish I could play/own

I like the game despite its flaws.
tales of tempest being only 10 hours means it must only be interesting for 2 hours.
