Just a tip I saw from a forum
“The corect priming procedure is done by
pressing the start button in position 2 without
holding the brake and just leave it like that for 1-2
    minutes.
    The car primes itself.
Than start the engine and leave it running for
    3-5 minutes.
It's the volvo procedure that was being shared
    by a volvo dealer mechanic.
Same procedure is used after fuel injectors
    disasamble.
Another way is filling the bottom cup with clean
    diesel before screwing it back.
Thow it can be a little bit hard without spilling it
    off.
In other volvo models, it works well cause you
have more acces to the fuel filter. Eg xc90”

Makes sense. Same with alot of cars, or similar atleast. BMW and VAG also say switch in ignition several times to start the fuel pump / prime the filter.

Excellent video. Agree with ThomasT5R, dropping the antisway bar gives much more room and allows direct fit of 32mm socket. Greetings from Ireland.

Hi great video and well worth a watch before doing mine. I have a 2013 V70 D5. I didnt have the same difficulty removing the casing i may have had a bit more clearance. I wouldnt have attempted this job without your video. So a very big thank you.

Very professional video. They explained everything well, although my English is not that good, I understood everything. You can see everything well because everything is very well lit and the zoom is also very good. I hope the process is similar on my D5.

Well it's best to tight the filter housing using the recommended toruqe by manufacturer, also you shouldn't start the car with the fuel filter housing empty as that will damage the injectors, you should turn on and off the ignition many times so that the fuel pump fill the housing and remove all the air in the system, then you can start it safely.

Love your Videos. Tip for the next time: if you unscrew the 4 Bolts from the antiswaybar and drop it, you“ll have much better Access to the Filter! 😉
With vida you can start the Pump for purging the Filter, some Modells start the Pump automaticly with ignition I so you can Purge the Filter by ignition1 for 20sec.

Spasiba for this big think tank of knowledge:)
But ther is a "but" the easy access is if you have nivo/adjustable suspension.
Otherwise the space to work is a little limited and the special toll will be needed.

  • @radilux8101
    @radilux8101 ปีที่แล้ว

    Most important last step:
Put ignition on 2 and let the filter be automatically filled and evaporated!
Ignition on 2 for 60 seconds.
Than turn off and again ignition on 2 for 60 seconds.
Do it 3 times at least.
Than engine will start straight away with no air sucking into high pressure system.
If u dont fo it - u can destroy high pressure pump.
Metal pieces will flow in sytem and damage engine. Quite an expensive disaster could happen.
    Be aware of it.

I can get a 32mm socket on the filter, but the tie bar prevents the socket wrench being used. I bought a 32mm ring spanner off e-bay which did the job, although the filter housing was on very tight.
