  • You just need a simple oil filter tool for the job, bleeding the system was also very easy watch the video. You don't need any tools for the bleeding.

    Thank you so much for this vid. I have 2008 S80 D5 it worked exactly the same. I was unable to add fresh diesel due to difficult access, but everything else was exactly the same. Please share more vids if you have any.
    Great job!!

    Using a BAHCO is also possible. I have one with max 30 mm, but BAHCOs often open a bit wider, so 32 mm fits perfectly. Good advice about letting the engine rev a bit higher after starting the first time following a fuel filter replacement!

    Hello. Replying to myself, yes, this priming method ir the right procedure to prime D2 version filter. Today I was able to replace the filter, priming it with this method, the engine started perfectly, rane lumpy for 5 seconds and all air was returned to the tank.Even easier than later versions with priming pumps.

    Word of advice, don’t mess with the drain plug on an old car. Worked on my gfs D3 and the plug snapped straight off from screwing it in by hand

    Thanks, just what i was looking for and nice tune! Does the v60 have a dipstick as my v40 doesnt, i am thinking of sucking the oil out with a pump, ive found the mini dipstick plug tho if iam putting it on the ramps i may do the sump plug way! Cheers

    Thanks for sharing the procedure. Can anyone confirm if this bleeding procedure works on the D2 version?

      D2 has PSA Engine , same like Ford 1.6 Tdci or 1.6 Hdi. Enough videos on TH-cam.

    Hi, may I ask you a question regarding Volvo S40 2011? If I want to change its diesel filter, do I need to vent the air in the oil line? Is it the same way as you showed for Volvo V60 in this video?
    Thank you.

      hello, I now have an xc60, of this car I replaced the fuel filter without bleeding. this also went fine, only it fell off after about 30 seconds of idling. After restarting the car just kept idling nicely. I don't think venting is really necessary.

    Thanks for the video, but I'm confused, I have a fuel filter under the bonnet which appears to have been changed at the last service (107K). Nobody seems to mention that the V60 appears to have two locations for filters? I don't appear to have a rear mounted one

    • @florianinside5666
      @florianinside5666 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe the front one is your oil filter?

    • @____________________________.x
      @____________________________.x 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@florianinside5666 I think I found the oil one, I don't think there is a second fuel filter, just that some models have theirs at the rear and mine is at the front next to the battery. Kinda fiddly to remove all the stuff around it though

    I have a Volvo XC60 2012, do I need to bleed the air and also do I need to diesel in the housing before i put it back? Please help

    • @gert-janzwetsloot1343
      @gert-janzwetsloot1343  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Philip Lee , I have heard from several people that the filter housing does not need to be filled.

    • @pleekh

      @@gert-janzwetsloot1343 Thanks. What about bleeding the air using the key position 2? I have read on internet that this is not required.

    • @williamdrijver4141
      @williamdrijver4141 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pleekh I tried it with bleeding the air and the engine started just as slow as in all videos of fuel filter replacements. So I won't be surprised if it's as you say not required.

    Does this work on a 2014 D4 too?

    • @theharbingerofconflation
      @theharbingerofconflation หลายเดือนก่อน

      you can roll under the back, if you have the same housing you have the same pump, meaning the priming method will be the same

  • @stevebrown617
    @stevebrown617 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Not the procedure for the 1.6 drive!!!!!.The diesel filter for the 1.6 drive lives under the bonnet ( hood) and is an easily changed unit that doesn't require bleeding.

  • @sanjinred
    @sanjinred 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You should drain it first. No need for bleeding as the system bleeds it self when starting.

      2011 1.6 diesel engine filter was under a bonnet. Started easy after replacing filter, but it looks if fuel consumption is higher now. Any ideas?

    Why use a oil filter tool for removing the filter housing and not just a wrench on the normal bolt head fitting?

    • @theharbingerofconflation
      @theharbingerofconflation หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can barely wrestle a 32mil socket in there, the crossbeam is in the way, and then you’ll need a very short swivel extension to go in the 1/2" wrench square. Putting a torque setting on that thing was a practical joke by the engineers

    If you turned that stupid music off I'm sure that filter body would have unscrewed easier.
