They might not have intended to tear down their greatest hero and disrespect him in every way possible, but how would it look different if the did? Can’t read minds, but I can judge results.
This reminds me, it's time to listen to the Gotham high read through again. That terrible comic makes me laugh, especially with your read through. *This game I feel only Pain*
Too be fair that’s because of Arkham knights ending J I know it’s hard to believe since they never seem to mention the Arkham aspects except in the first act and with Batman using scarecrows fear toxin
You know what's funny about Boomerang getting all hyped and trying to piss on Flash's corpse while bragging about it? In the comics durign the 80s when he died once, one of his fellow rogues tried to take off Flash's mask to find out who he was and Boomerang hit him away telling him to show some respect to the dead. He outright says that while they may be criminals, they aren't savages.
The game is so bad it let Boomerang lie while in Wonder Woman's lasso for a joke. He said "here's his finger, it just came off, I swear". But he cut off the finger and he knows that so he shouldn't be able to say that. But the writers don't care they had to make a dumb joke that nobody finds funny.
But don't that just sum up this game so perfectly though? Yeah it directly contradicts, even is outright spiteful, to the source material. But we need a funny and a means to move the plot along, so who cares! Fuck logic or respecting the material! Just do it! I'm not even a huge DC fan but even then... This game just feels empty and hateful.
Technically speaking, he didn't lie, he didn't intend to cut off his finger at all, he just swung the boomerange down and Flash's finger came off. So he COULD say it just came off and it wouldn't be lying, but that's purely as a shitty 'defense' and probably what the writers were going for, but even then it's still garbage.
Speaking of boomerang. Notice that with the addition of joker down the road that's half the male playable characters that would be "masking insecurities". I mean boomerang out right says he is and the devs said joker is figuring himself out and is insecure. So half the men in the game can't even be self assured in being strong villain scumbags but Harley can. Harley so strong she can over power a Batman enhanced scarecrow fear toxin
What is this weird relationship between the squad and wonder woman? They seemingly hate the rest of the league, but Diana gets treated with respect and admiration, especially by Harley... Even when Flash saved their lives twice, he gets treated like trash. Humiliated, even.
I wonder…what thing WW is…that the other JL members aren’t…which might cause the disrespectful, hateful, spiteful leftist creators of the game to paint her sympathetically and no one else…hmmmmm…
4:05:52 The worst part about that lootbox opening at the end, after the Conroy memorial? The man died of cancer, and you got a gun called _Mystery Illness._
I love the 'lore' that the white deadshot we see in the previous arkham games was "an imposter"...like bro, have you seen the man shoot, that's not a copy cat. In Arkham City that 'imposter' killed a guy with a bullet from a mile away after ricocheting it like 3 times around corners. HE'S BETTER THAN YOU. I think the black guy in this game is the imposter. Also, I find it funny that of all the things that could change Deadshot's canonical race across all future interpretations of the character, it was fucking Will Smith in a god awful film.
I've seen a youtube commenter desperately trying to defend him by saying it was a Deadshot "from the multiverse", and that's why there are two of them, because this game has the whole Earth-2 thing, so it's "obvious" that there are multiple version of every character crossing over all the time. The lengths people go to defend this game's story is something to behold.
I can't put into words how pissed off it makes me that Harley had no real reaction to killing Bruce ignoring all he's done for her in the animations and the comics even in the Arkham games. No one has tried to help her more consistently than Bruce despite how much recent media is trying to Gaslight everyone into thinking her relationship with Ivy was any healthier than her relationship with the Joker No one has looked out for Harley more than Batman has. No one has truly wanted the best for her more than Bruce and you'd think this version that was able to separate herself from her devotion to the Joker would be able to realize that, but no she kills him and feels nothing. The whole team can shed tears for Wonder Woman, someone most of these characters have never even so much as had a canon conversation with It's shameless
Not to mention but was I just looking into it or was their a very weird energy between Harley and kid ivy. Not straight pedophile but almost borderline like they made a joke about it and again she’s supposed to be a sympathetic character apparently.
Yeah, but have you ever considered that Bruce Wayne committed the biggest crime against humanity by being a rich white man? Also, let’s just ignored that he was so traumatized by his parents’ murder that he became Batman to save people. That’s not an important aspect of his character.
I'm definitely with the Longman on this one. Harley's character needs to be locked in a deep vault somewhere and never let out until our culture is mature enough to write her again.
Absolutely. I mean look at how she's shoehorned into everything, no matter how little a manic-pixie dream girl cheerleader with no powers belongs there. That atrocious DCeased book was a prime example. World-ending apocalypse with unstoppably homicidal super gods running around, and she's somehow still relevant and better able to survive than even Batman, several Flashes and Superman. And Injustice. Despite being DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE for the event that killed millions and turned Superman psycho, she's just instantly forgiven and MADE BATMAN'S RIGHT HAND. She's the worst Mary Sue in modern culture.

Every second The Flash is onscreen and not turning the clown squad into red mist, all I can think about is Madvocate saying "Don't stop to talk, don't stop to talk don't stop to talk..."
The fact that all of the Arkham series leads to this. Just, let that sink in. Asylum, Origins, City, Knight, everything Batman goes through all ends here: brainwashed, humiliated, and killed by a gaggle of idiots just for the sake of being used as bait. You cannot experience those games again without knowing this.
I've beat Asylum/City again very recently and I'm gonna go through Knight/Origins next. SS didn't cross my mind once while playing them because I was fully immersed. Some things are a bit wonky storywise, but the writing is sincere and not mean-spirited.
I don't think I've ever seen dialogue used this much and as obviously as a mouthpiece. I had to stop for a moment when King Shark started shilling about Journalists. The sheer irreality of it was corrosive.
Shark’s character doesn’t make any sense, he was always the stupid one, and when he’s the most serious and intelligent out of the rest, he’s mocked or disrespected in the same scene… Honestly I think many of the creators, as well as sweetbabyinc don’t go out much to comprehend basic human behavior.
Wasn't till Mauler mentioned an alternative: "starting the game as a Justice League member, rescuing each of the superheroes and unlocking them in the process" did i see the shear insanity in making this cluster f#@k of a game
The plot was already there. The players should have played as Wonder Woman. This could hit two birds with one stone: the protagonist is a strong female character and the players didn’t have to play as degenerates like Suicide Squad.
@@David_the_Psalmist This. One of the most interesting things about Batman's relationship with the Justice League is that he's also ready to incapacitate all of them. Let us see that in video game form if you insist on bringing Arkham batman back.
It finally occured to me how bizarre Lois Lane's role is in this story. She spends the entirety of the story doing live news reports to the 3% of humanity still alive, somehow evading Braniac's manhunt in a world where everyone is hacking everything. She makes one active contribution to the story, where she randomly shows up to free the Suicide Squad from the box they're stuck in and then run away, meaning she thinks it's a net positive to release them but does not think they are worth pressing for information as a journalist in a dire situation with very few leads or options.
Lois Lane as a character in this game is more artificial than GlaDOS.
The way she says "Metropolis, we'll get through this" at the end of the “thank you Kevin" section, I'm sure that's very encouraging to the less than 3% of the population still alive, many of whom will probably just kill themselves after all their friends and loved ones got annihilated and Earth's premier guardians got enslaved and put down like rabid dogs.
Flash saves all their lives, twice for no over reason but because his a good person. Gets his thumb cut off, shot in the head and his corpse pissed on later as a joke?!
Its almost like these are villains and are terrible people. Which makes the whole idea of this video game botched from the start. But hey, that's typical leftist garbage for you. Heroism and goodness are bad. The villains were right all along! God its sickening
Fun but also dumb fact: You can spot batman just standing on the rooftops watching you throughout the game. Instead of dealing with you he just watches from afar and if you get close or shoot at him he disappears.
See that could’ve worked well if the reveal was that Batman was actually helping you throughout the game, having resisted the brainiac control and was only acting the part of brainwashed. He’s watching you to make sure the job gets done but also to play up his role as your antagonist for brainiacs eyes. You could conveniently get pointed towards anti-justice league tech and then have it revealed it’s Batman pointing you to tech that he helped create, which would explain why it would work in the first place. Even his death could’ve been a tragic loss as he finally succumbs to brainiacs mind control and you’re forced to end him.
It’s just silly just how writers think they can have the character spout how everything is going ‘according to plan’, as everything they need to rule the world is being dismantled right in front of them. It’s almost like they’re insulting Batman’s intelligence, or any original character (Thrawn) intelligence when they make them believe they still have the upper hand, when it’s obvious they’re losing lol.
@@moongoalie2410 how they handle thrawn should be considered a war crime. Gone from the most intelligent guy in the comics to a literally clown that leads an army of idiot's
It cannot be understated how fast the Flash is. He moves and perceives faster than observable time. He can go to other dimensions and time travel by _running._ The Flash is so absurdly fast that he once beat a being who could teleport across interstellar distances _in a race._ And they just kill him by shooting him. There's the typical nerfing of the Flash to allow for drama to happens in pretty much basically every Flash story, and then there's _this._ It's god-awful.
I know they used an anti-speed force device to justify nerfing him before the boss fight, but even Flash at 1% his normal speed can kill the Suicide Squad in less than a second. The game would be much more interesting if you had to survive getting out of Metropolis and hide from the League so you don’t get killed.
@@kenthefele113 The anti-speed force device doesn't even mean anything since: A) Flash still bodies Boomerang in the cutscene prior when they all have the devices equipped. B) The devices need to be charged up throughout the fight in order to be used, meaning there's multiple times where the squad aren't protected and Flash still doesn't rip their hearts out like he did to Luthor.
Well, it’s just bad world building. It’s important to point out that the MCU had a pretty good sense of power scaling, with Hulk being insanely strong, but *_far_* below his comic version. This is a similar situation, Flash is too damn fast here, and is under Brainiac’s control. Why would he ever hold back? Why wouldn’t he just rip their heads off? There are ways you _can_ do this, with some proper power scaling and good writing. But none of them are used, here.
A few days before the game came out I saw someone say "I cant wait for all the haters to change their stories about liking this game after it comes out" That comment keeps coming back into my head whenever I see this game mentioned and I have a chuckle.
What sort of "changing the story" would that be anyway? Unavailable game X seemed bad, now it's good? Or herd election mentality applied to game tastes?
Think they’re on damage control by coping how everyone else is stupid, and they’re the intelligent one? Love to see those types, especially when they’re accidentally telling on themselves for liking literal slop that’s actually slop.
Collectivists cannot comprehend that people can be individualist, think for themselves, stand upon their own principles, or come to their own conclusions; they think everyone is just as much of a willfully ignorant, heard behavior, slave-mentality sheep NPC who will abandon their beliefs at any given moment just to purport that they're right in the here and now as they are.

What struck me is just how offensively _insulting_ the writers are to black Americans with the characters of dead shot and green lantern. One of them is the race-swapped version of a bloodthirsty, stone cold killer who takes people’s lives in exchange for money. The other is a highly intelligent, highly competent man who fights every day not just to keep the people of one city safe, or one planet, but works alongside countless alien species to keep all of civilized space safe. What do the writers of suicide squad do with this information? Uplift the murderous criminal with a baby momma he isn’t married to and an estranged daughter as the “true” black man, while tearing down the other one as much as possible for being a “race traitor”-that is, a good and heroic person. How is that not racist? These people are out here saying that no true black person is a good person; that criminality is the black way. That’s so disgusting.
Arkham Asylum and City Harley was meant to be obnoxious to the other characters but not to the player. Modern Harley is supposed to be quirky-crazy and badass, but is just genuinely obnoxious.
@@moongoalie2410Her psychotic dedication to the Joker is the whole core of her origional character. It's what made her dangerous. All of the batman villains embody a particular psychology; Riddler is a narcissist with insecurities about his intelligence, Two Face is obsessed with duality, the Joker is the embodiment of chaos etc. Harley Quin's whole character was her insane adoration of the latter. To get rid of it as modern interpretations have done doesn't make her more - as the writers would claim - it makes her pointless. Perhaps it could be interesting to see what she would become after the death of the Joker, but this is not it.
1:59:35 I love the “lady boomerang is smarter than you” moment because it highlights the fact that these writers would never have had the balls to write a female character as stupid as they portray boomerang
I mean there is also about like i think 5 or 6 other green lanterns who are supposed to be on earth. Kyle, Guy, and Hal all come to mind and the others of course but none of them arnt anywhere to be seen because fuck em of course.
Your issue is you are asking complicated questions. You're asking questions a 12 year old would ask. This game is 3 years old at most. It would choke if it was let near small objects.
It's telling when the "people" this game tries to pander to trot out the defense of, "They're bad guys, so it's okay that they're obnoxious and unrealistic assholes at every turn!!" Many of the DC villains, especially Batman's tend to have actual character to them, they aren't just evil assholes. There's typically a level of tragedy to them, or deeper reason why they do what they do. Something that's often brought up, and used as a means to try and reason with them and get them help. It's what most people remember from the older animated shows, and the best of the comics. Hell, the most iconic story featuring the Joker ends with him saddened with the understanding that he's beyond help and is destined to fight against Batman forever. And does Freeze need any mention? It shows that the "fans" really are just tourists. Here to spout whatever nonsense the latest propaganda piece needs in its defense. The game was made by people who actively hate the IP and what it represents, instead of understanding the characters within and using it to do something good. Just the concept of the heroes being brainwashed and killed off could've worked if they just gave them all the respect they deserved. But they didn't want that, they wanted to spout the cringiest dialogue possible while literally pissing on the legacy that they ape in order to try and sell this trash. Sunrise sunset.
It's not that they're the bad guys, it's that they _revel_ in being evil, and the developers _desperately_ wants everyone to not just sympathize with them, but honor them, look upon them as the "tRuE" heroes, and be okay with them murdering and desecrating the real heroes.
Not to mention that they *chose* to be good guys when it’s about mourning Wonder Woman (who barely helped them) while choosing to become full blown assholes when it’s about any other heroes (especially to the Flash, who saved them twice).
With Harley in particular you've also got the problem that this "girlboss" interpretation of her character is completely at odds with her origin, and by extension her ties to Joker. They kinda dismiss it here with her repeating Batman's line that she's "not very bright" (which he says a few times in the Arkham games, though never to her face) but ... yes. That's the point. If that wasn't true, she wouldn't be there. Not to go full armchair psychologist but her depiction in this game is basically that whole millennial stereotype of us being belligerently incapable of taking responsibility for our own actions lol. Everything she's accusing Batman of having done, everything the writers (seem to?) expect the player to take her side on, happened to her entirely as a result of her own actions. Or, if we're being charitable, sometimes Joker's actions. You could probably make the argument that this is a valid, and perhaps even realistic, interpretation of where her character from the Arkham games might end up. Just completely deluded and blaming Batman for everything, despite it clearly not being true. But... why? It's not interesting, and I doubt anybody wanted it. And all of this would still be true even without Batman dying, that's really a whole other thing.
@@yewtewbstew547the idea of Harley turning everything to 11 and blaming Batman for everything as a method of coping with everything that’s happened over the Arkham series could’ve been an interesting direction but it would only work if she eventually broke down and realised she was misplacing her feelings to save herself, bruce would be the first person to try and help her, in some incarnations Harley directly becomes a better person or even a good guy thanks to Bruce’s intervention.
Just watch the animated series, and despite being a cartoon mostly targeted for children, the writers actually wrote their villains and heroes with maturity and nuance. Really telling how dimwitted and childish left wing writers are today compared to their elders…
Is anyone else sick of the morally grey antihero stuff? No one can convince me that this suicide squad formula is more engaging gameplay than getting to play as the Justice League. Having good people performing heroic acts would honestly feel so refreshing.
It's the reason why I like playing FF XIV, there a moral grey areas but your character and the ones that are your allies are very much the heroes of the said world.
It can be done right without resorting to this cringe fest. Jason Todd, Red Hood is a perfect example of an antihero who has a very grey outlook on life. He’s the perfect antithesis of Batman, and something DC should have pushed far more to scratch that inch of those who find Batman too boring.
King Shark's characterisation: - done right: "I am a shark." - done wrong: "Being a journalist is highly respectable. Let me simp for journalists and their ability to share gossip with the masses." I knew this game was shit, but god damn it, I didn't realise just how shit it was.
You know what's worse than bastardized King Shark? The fact that he's in this game to begin with, and he shouldn't be because his head got blown off in Batman: Assault on Arkham. So yeah, they somehow revived King Shark just to turn him into unfunny Drax.
If the authors of this game think that Harley Quinn can go up against The Flash, Superman and Green Lantern, who are god-level characters, they deserve to be in Arkham.
This game clearly started development around the time of the first Suicide Squad movie in some form since one of the dumb things about the plot of that movie is that they assemble a squad of criminals with mostly lame powers to potentially kill Superman. El Diablo would have been the only one worth a damn against Superman considering that Deadshot just has guns, Harley has a big revolver and a bat, Killer Croc is strong but nowhere near the level of Superman, Boomerang has a-you guessed it- a boomerang, and Slipknot has the best power of all: he can climb anything!
@@colten53What about Enchantress? An immortal witch who could bend reality? At least she was part of the team until she immediately betrayed Waller and became the big bad
@@colten53 Deadshot could function as a hitman that could theoretically take Superman out with the right equipment- a kryptonite bullet in the head with a sniper rifle and hidden in a lead-lined room. One could argue he could do the same with Flash and Batman. And Wonder Woman Woman’s status of being bulletproof is dubious, since she _always_ uses her bracelets to deflect projectiles. The only one I’m genuinely unsure of is Green Lantern, because his power ring is basically a supercomputer that can generate hard light constructs. So, does it have sensors? Can it detect an incoming threat autonomously and put up a barrier? If so, Deadshot can’t do anything, and GL’s protections are pretty damn heavy. But if not, that means the Guardians of Oa are _pretty_ damn stupid to not include that very basic protection mechanism into their rings.
I watch Mauler's Steam and one aspect of the game that confused me was why did nobody except for Wonder Woman seemed to acknowledge the fact the Justice League was being brainwashed, they were talking to them as if they weren’t under brainiac’s control. It was also weird they didn’t find any alternative to restore the Justice League, besides killing them.
Yeah the game was so hell bend on killing them off that they didn´t even try to explain that, even though that would have been an easy fix. Like Waller is happy to get rid of any meta-human she can´t recrut because she doesn´t want powerful meta human outside of her control, give her one or two throw away lines and done, although i must admit it was so much more important to have a cutscene where she tells the squad that she is their daddy while attacking a chair :D.

Because Harley (or better yet some writers self insert persona) doesn’t like it when you mess with her head canon of a lesbian relationship, but one may ask “isn’t she a child though?”, than the writer would tell you, “love wins, no matter the age”….”oh, and by the way, that’s incredibly homophobic of you to say to a trauma survivor”….

I usually try to play devils advocate and find what audience may like this, but for this one I am honestly lost. Why make it canon to the Arkhamverse if the gameplay is completely different and knowing past references will be detrimental to the experience? The only audience I can see liking it is one that has very little time to play a game (so the repetitiveness is not noticed), loves shooters (of any kind), and really likes this quippy humour.

I always thought the Suicide Squad was supposed to be a covert task force filled with expendable criminals so the government can say they had nothing to do with the secret missions if they get caught or killed. And they are put on near impossible covert ops with strange DC villains. Unfortunately, DC keeps pushing them as Justice League killers (when they arent) doing action shooter missions(instead of covert assassinations, stealth intel gathering or stealing important items or documents) Task Force X just doesn't make sense to me outside of them being expendable covert agents doing assassinations and stealing.
The whole bombs in their heads thing doesn't even make sense with this idea. If they're their best weapon against the fucking Justice League, then no way in hell are they just exploding them. They're too valuable for it to be anything but a bluff
pretty sure that was the original idea. I read a comic and it ends with Deadshot shooting a guy in the head so they can leave his corpse at the scene of a massacre to take the blame for it.
It’s yet another thing that JLU understood that recent DC projects utterly failed to get. All the members of TFX were chosen very specifically for the mission. They were all given very specific jobs that suited heir skills. They were given as much intel prior to the mission as possible. They timed the mission down to the literal second (Clock King was coordinating it). And, more than anything else, they did everything possible to A) do the mission when there were as few League members as possible and B) avoid said members like the plague because they knew their chances in a fight were basically nonexistent. They sure as hell didn’t get sent in via an out-of-control train with orders to _hunt_ _down_ _the_ _Justice_ _League._
That's what I understood their purpose to be. When it comes to making Justice League killers, they had better options in recruiting and making their own meta humans loyal to the Government over the league, Task Force X were meant to be expendable by design.
Y'know what? The Bat-Gunman scene brings a thought to mind: what if the League were fighting against Brainiac's control the entire time, and that was why the Squad has a snowball's chance in hell? Like, Batman can't bring himself to fire the gun for obvious reasons, and *that's* what gives the Flash the chance to intercept him; the Flash is actively fighting the control, cutting his speed and the more creative uses of his powers; after Flash's death, GL could be so torn up that his willpower... powered ring is malfunctioning to the point where it's damn near useless; finally, Superman is just giving all he's got toward resisting Braniac, and after Wonder Woman's kryptonite-stabbing he's so burned out that the Squad needs to put him down in a more "put-him-out-of-his-misery" sense than just gunning down DC's premiere hero as if her were just some thug in tights. Just off the top of my head.
Funny how Harley refers to joker as “her ex” as if she broke up with him when that never happened and she remained loyal to his cause even after his death. Like honey you never broke up with him, he’s not your ex, you can’t dump a deceased person.

It's rather "interesting" how Brainiac only seems to alter the DNA of Superman, and none of the other super heroes. Batman still dies to bullets. Flash still dies to bullets. Green lanturn still doesn't like yellow and has will issues. It's almost as if the creators realized they had made an abject travesty of a story and wrote themselves into a corner with WW getting kryptonite.
I find that there is such an incredible level of variety in the boss battles and death scenes of the Justice League. It truly is surreal. Batman was shot with a gun. Flash was taken out with a gun. Green Lantern died from a bullet wound from a gun. Superman was shot with a gun. All of the 13 Brainiacs will also end up on the wrong side of a firearm. CAN'T WAIT!

Another fun fact, many many years ago, they could birth males, and then use them as slaves on another island. Got retconed because of obvious reasons. Althouth take this with a grain of salt, because now I remember I got this from second hand knowledge.
@@kailevil3444 It was added in teh New 52 era. The male babies born were given to Hephaistos, to work in his forge as slaves. Wonder Woman forbid the practice when she figured this out.
Boomerang has the speed force from the first five minutes and yet they insist on having escort quests and long cutscenes of characters struggling to get somewhere constantly.
To emphasize how bad the fear toxin batman segment is, in terms of writing, let me point to Batman Arkham Knight. One of the plot lines in the game is that Jokers Titan blood made its way into Batman and that joker, in essence and consciousness, is slowly and mentally taking over Batman throughout the game. Batman does what he can to ward off the Joker but he ends up losing after Batman takes in too much fear toxin through the game. When Joker finally takes over Batman, their positions are inverted where Joker becomes the driver of the Batman body while Batman is now in a position to mentally chip away at the Joker. Point be, Joker had to spend an entire night chipping at the Batman to win but when Batman is essentially in Jokers mind, it took only about 5-10 minutes for Batman to fully break down Joker and lock him away for good, mentally speaking. Batman had to have the greatest mental fortitude as he was taking on what is one of the most mentally complex characters, and he came out on top having one of the greatest minds possible. Now jumping over to suicide squad, rather than immediately breaking down the suicide squad, mentally speaking through the fear toxin, all Batman does is just say pseudo scary one liners to the suicide squad as they navigate a Halloween haunted house pumping toxin(?) Batman was able to get under the Jokers skin to deal with him but when it comes to the suicide squad, he just does his best tuff mcgruff persona while trying to intimidate the suicide squad. It's actually horse piss on so many levels. Also a couple things I wanted point out. In order for the suicide squad to beat Batman, the devs had to turn Batman into something that he's not, that being a hallucination demon thing. Everyone was assuming that the suicide would take Batman on in the typical way it would happen, in some dark damp building where Batman attacks from the shadows in which the suicide squad out thinks Batman. But no, the boss fight is just a bullet sponge demon where the player jumps up to dodge attacks, and then mag dumps demon Batman till he's blooded on the ground somehow. That's actual fan fiction at that point. I'm shocked no one caught this but when they beat Batman and Harley picks up Batman while saying "looks like the boot is on the other batfoot" that's a reference to arkham knight where Batman and Robin beat Harley in Panessa studios. Batman literally picks up Harley and tosses him over his shoulder to which the player can see Harleys fat ass. It's a funny little "wink wink" from the true rocksteady devs. But in the suicide squad, when Harley does the inverse to Batman, it's supposed to this feministic own where its Harley sexualizing Batman. It's just another thing that rocksteady and I have to assume, primarily speaking, sweetbabyinc did to demean and ruin Batman. Fuck this game man
Fuck this game indeed! And I did catch the Harley and Batman thing actually. I was telling alot of people about it. That was literally the writers saying “oh yeah, Batman throws Harley over his shoulders and carries her in AK. That’s sexist…..Let’s fix that” Like Who the fuck would nitpick that small segment in Arkham knight as if it was even a problem.
Pretty sure the Knightmare Batman was the only solution they could think of to have players beat him. Without it, there was no feasible way to win so they *had* to make him a bigger target.
@@radbman5932 they should’ve never made this game to begin with. Batman can literally solo the Suicide Squad while holding back. The idea that these bozos can kill the Batman Let alone the entire justice league at all is ludicrous.
Honestly one of the biggest things that bothers me (I haven't played the other games so I'm not that invested in the lore) is how the bombs were injected. Waller already had the squad locked in place in their standing chair things; she could have easily had a medical professional walk up behind them and inject the bombs. Instead, she "plays a mind game" and tricks them into injecting each other, which is a plan with so many variables that could go wrong. They could inject the bombs into a suboptimal location. They could inject multiple bombs into one person. They could damage the injector in the fight. They could inject the bomb in someone's spine, sever some nerves, and paralyze them. They could rub the injector where the sun don't shine and get the injection site infected. I could go on. Waller only went through with this plan because Rocksteady wanted that slideshow visual. Edit: After finishing the video, I can safely say I hate the post-credit eulogy more. I'm all for honoring Kevin's legacy, but these parasites have no right to thank him for the work and passion he used to bring the character to life after executing said character in cold blood.
Also why the hell would you want to make your world-saving task force hate each other in the first place? What benefit could that possibly give her, other than getting to feel all smug for tricking them?
@@unpopularopinions7407that’s the thing that these adaptations keep doing that the original versions of the squad did right. The original squad from the comics wasn’t about saving the world, they were villains forced to do black ops missions, they had bomb collars to prevent them from refusing, it was never about saving the world, it was doing the dirty work of the government as a means of lessening their sentences. The could die or be killed at any moment and were often forced to work with other villains that they’d never get along with. The modern versions want to keep that tension and oddball dynamics but also want you to believe that they are the only thing that can stop these S-tier threats but then they also want that whole “you’re on your own/I’ll screw your over” dynamic which makes no sense when they’re apparently your only chance at saving the world.
@@DMAN99It still infuriating that every time the Suicide Squad is the main focus of a story they are never used for what they were originally made for. You could literally make a Hitman style game with them and it would work wonders.
I assume the voice director told the actor he has to use the most over the top accent or the stupid Americans won't believe he is Australian. That said I think Waller is the worst. It might just be all the yelling she does. It grates. I don't know how Mauler didn't mute it.
I had NO idea this game was related to the Arkham series until seeing this. My goodness you wouldn’t even figure that from the gameplay, what a crash and burn for a beloved series.
WAIT! Even though Barry broke free from the Lasso of Truth, his reaction while he was under its spell seemed to bypass the mind control. It made me think, “Oh, that’s why they kept Wonder Woman free! Still should’ve been Batman, but maybe she’ll find magical artifacts similar to her lasso, or the lasso itself, to at least temporarily nullify Braniac’s mind control on the League.” But alas, I can guarantee that the mouthbreathers writing this game didn’t even realize they made that a viable option. *sigh* whatever.
Brainiac after the whole justice league has been wiped out in broad daylight:”Fine I guess now’s the time to freeze the suicide squad and teleport them to my ship to bring them under my control.”
Wait, did this Lois even cry over her literal husband being brainwashed and murdered by the squad? She was in love with him, in some stories even had a child with him. Also this Harley is the one who murdered a 5 year old girl after extorting her father into buildimg an entire island base for her and joker. Then helped kidnap, torture, drug, disfigured and mentally destroyed Jason Todd- turning him into the Arkham Knight. She was also involved in the plan that drew Jason to Joker which was kidnapping literal toddler's, killing them, sewing the bodies together and then telling the parents theyd send the babys back "in one piece" when they paid the ransom. Even in City, when she thinks she's killed Tim Drake she shows no remorse whatsoever Shes beyond evil, and she doesn't deserve the right to tell Batman off.
I don't know, I get why the Daily Planet got the in the case of my passing out of universe. It is one of two famous news organizations in comics. I don't get it from an in universe angle though since it seems like it should have went to a Gotham news organization. It isn't the worse thing in the game but I feel like not tying Gotham in with Batman's death is wrong. Still a pretty minor nitpick.
@jacquelineking5783 you're right, especially since Jack was a reoccurring character who had a lot of personal experiences with both Batman and Bruce Wayne, even demanding the interview when he was revealed. And Vicki Vale was his lover, as a voice mail in Arkham Knight implies
Okay, I _can_ buy Penguin having this, because in a lot of media, certainly recently, he’s been shown using the Iceberg Lounge as a front for dealing weapons. This is even in-universe as in Arkham City he’d managed to get Solomon Grundy chained up under his basement, and had Mr Freeze’s ice cannon. *_However,_* this being the case does not justify the absurdity of the situation: 90% of Metroplis’ population is dead or enslaved to Brainiac. Superman, Green Lantern, and - most pertinently - _BATMAN_ are under Brainiac’s thrall. And you’re telling me that Penguin has a branch of the Iceberg Lounge there, and is personally there, and hasn’t been killed or captured yet? How does that make _any_ sense?
Also, I still hate this incarnation of the Penguin. He’s supposed to be a mockery of high society, being a criminal of the worst sort, and carrying a massive inferiority complex, but who is still refined and dignified. I think the original animated series version is his best interpretation, and this version having a broken glass bottle shoved into his eye socket and having him speak with a cockney limey accent doesn’t fit him. But that’s mostly just my own subjective bias.
Same reason Green Lantern says Braniac has conquered 99% of the population yet Arkham Asylum seemed to be a stronghold for the local law enforcement (which appeared to be well over 4 dozen when you get there) so Batman can string them up or leave dead on the floor. Yet no inmates, civilians, or medical staff.
I feel like the set up for this game should have been before the actual invasion, with the squad pre-capture working on a plan with other villains to stage an attack on the Justice Leagues big 'Hero Day' only to have their thunder stolen by Brainiac's arrival. Penguin's buisness is there because he was supplying for the plan, the brainwashed heroes are kept busy tracking down the more high profile villains that were involved in the plan, the squad have a solid idea of how to beat the Justice League because the villains were already planning that instead of the characters basically just fucking about until a solution presents itself.
@@nobody2996 See, that actually has some merit to it. It at least serves the basic function of proper setup and payoff. And it actually explains why the League is all there, that the Squad has a plan, and that - while the circumstances have changed - the plan itself is solid.
@@silenceyouidiot Which is itself weird because not only does the Iceberg Lounge have an establishment in Metropolis, but so does Arkham Asylum? Like… does this game take place in Metropolis? Or does it take place in Gotham City? The two’s locations are fairly dubious, but they’re *_not_* the same place.
Them fast forwarding past Kevin Conroy's final turn as Batman really sums it up. Like RIP to the beloved voice actor. It would be like discovering brand 10 mins of lost footage of Chris Reeves as Superman and only using a two second slice of it for The Flash 2. The disrespect really doesn't end, does it?
In the OG Dead Rising there was a character named Otis who called you on the radio and annoyed you all the time. The developers knew this, and so the first thing you got to do during the survivor bonus mode was fight, and kill Otis as catharsis. This has been figured out for decades at this point.
Batman exploring Metropolis instead of Gotham in a new Arkham game would have been sick. Imagine fighting off Brainiac goons as Batman and the story goes along where he uses his tech to stop the JL members and turn them back to the good side. Then they could use that to expand on the teammate mechanics from Arkham Knight where he could call assists or switch partners like if he needed to catch a fast enemy he could call in the Flash or if he needed someone to break an enemy’s armor and could call in Superman.
I actually think this game would be fine with a longer campaign and maybe the squad showing actual respect to the league members. Like maybe acknowledging that killing them means earth will be defenseless. Harley having a more drastic change of heart after talking with non brainwashed Batman for a second similar to Wonder Woman with the flash and he tells her she has to kill him or he’s gonna kill them all. Maybe she cries realizing Batman actually tried to help her before. Maybe boomerang goes to insult flashes corpse and just stops getting choked up realizing that Barry was sort of his only friend in a messed up way. Have King shark who is a demigod apparently get advice from a dying Superman. Make these characters likable in SOME way. Yes you can make characters unlikable but only so much especially when you put them against characters people love.
I’ve been saying the same thing. They’ve done so many things wrong I can’t even put it into a single sentence. Im still in disbelief that this is what we got after 9 years of waiting.
I’ve never seen a game so afraid of having 2 seconds without anything happening. The need to shove your game so full of random dialogue that it’s constantly cutting over each other is baffling enough, but idk why you would choose that when the dialogue you write is biohazardous piss. Every single fight was exactly the same, we spawn groups of enemies on random buildings until we’ve decided you killed enough, and then we might have you attack a specific target to feel like you are making some kind of progress. And the boss fights were unbelievably shit. Can’t help but compare them to GOW3 or the Heimdall fight, where you gather things to combat their weakness and then have a very unique fight that puts that weakness exploitation into a suitable mechanic. I think whoever made this game took the quote “if you can nail 30 seconds of fun, you can stretch that out to a whole game” to heart, but misremembered it as “if you have 30 seconds of game, you can make it a whole game.”
Flash (A man): Can't die fast enough even though he actually saved our lives. Lets defile his corpse. Wonder (A woman): What a noble heroine, even if she locked us in that box and failed. I wonder why they only seem to care more about female characters, like with Ivy and the Toymaker. I also wonder why toy maker is Asian and Deadshot is black now. Almost like its a modern game for modern audiences, to kill the heros of older audiences.
It’s not even “modern audience” I sure as hell don’t want this. Heck, 90% of the entire world does not give a singular fuck about sjw stuff. Who are they pandering this to…?
@@jonasl9068 Are you sure? They have a Black Girl boss who easily kills anyone she wants. They care more about Ivy, who is about to kill them getting a bomb than, people who help them. They swapped out the races of several people, women are treated with more respect than men and they go out of their way to insult the Cop super hero and white people.
It’s a good thing that Az didn’t play this game, with him being versed on the deep lore of DC this travesty of a story would have sent him into a deep coma. Well either that or he would have gone full Jonkler.
the wonder woman stuff is just so weird to me. The entire time she's on screen she's antagonistic to them and tells them to fuck off, not listening to them at all and the only times she "saves" them is not the intended affect. Flash though, on 2 occasions and at the cost of his own free will, purposefully saves the Squad each time with no higher meaning then to help them. But we're supposed to laugh at the disrespect to him in his death, but feel all sad in Diana's. BUT EVEN THEN THEY STILL PUT IN A JOKE WITH HER ASHS FLYING INTO SHARKS FACE, NOT EVEN THE SERIOUS SCENE CAN BE FULLY SERIOUS, THERE MUST BE A FUNNY
The explanation for that is in her moniker. Wonder WOMAN, so by identity politics law you are required to have people simp for a woman while not being required to make the simping have at least a little bit of logic to it. She is a woman so she deserves the praise.
I remember when Darkseid mind controlled Wonder Woman in Justice League Dark: Apokolips War and Constantine was able to use the Lasso of Truth to break her free from the mind control but I guess Diana just isn't quite as good at using it when she had Flash.
You can tell that the game can't even take itself seriously, once they start killing off the super heroes the game starts to feel like some sort of fanfic written fever dream where nothing makes sense.
I'm guessing among other things Black Canary must be dead, because her Banshee calls an established Fail-safe for a villainous Superman and Wonderwoman would have absolutely brought her.
@@fieldmarshalbaltimore1329more like they didn’t care to know the lore to begin with. Only watching one Zack Snyder movie, and that was enough to make a game.
Apparently, there is an audio log where the Justice League decides to accept Brainiac's invitation to come aboard his ship. Batman and Flash don't trust it, but agree with the logic that they "need to set an example for others," to give him the benefit of the doubt. Superman rationalized that he didn't have a choice how he came to this planet, so the same applies to Brainiac in a giant skull ship. Flash reacted in time when they boarded the ship and got Wonder Woman to safety. Pathetic.
Really?, they looked at Brainiac's massive hentai skull ship and thought "hmm, yeah he seems alright, lets answer his invitation even though we know it's an obvious trap?.. great writing.
I love that my superchat made it into the highlights. It was the one about the Nostalgia Critic. It really is true, they wanted to use every single last joke they thought of.
Rocksteady created some fairly intelligent counter-culture commentary with this game. First, they made an obnoxious group totally lacking in empathy who are characterized as obnoxiously obtuse with their most popular member sporting multi-colored hair and clown makeup. This team is obsessed with killing all semblance of justice. The targeted heroes are at the mercy of a new world order that is forcing their hand. Meanwhile, the most underappreciated hero consistently risks his life to save the villains and the world while the female from the hero team is lauded as above reproach while she barely contributes to solving the problem. That's some rather scathing commentary on today's culture.
It is pretty wild that they managed to do all that without at any point in the process being overwhelmed by the creeping sensation of irony (the bad kind, not the "humorous" kind the game is actually intending). The studio was so utterly under the control of the agenda and "the message" that it was genuinely impossible for them to have a "are we the baddies?" epiphany. That kind of density takes a special bunch.
I’ll do a parody of my favorite mauler quote from his rise of skywalker review “and the JL and brainiac lose because of course they do, they never stood a fucking chance.”
Another thing what bugs me to no end, is that waller wants to control meta-human so bad to add to her little squad, yet the only meta-human she actualy has in the squad is shark the others are "normal peopel", later she adds ivy to her collection but doens´t use her for shit although she could be useful to defeat the justice leage more than any member in the playable squad :D. Also if you have the possibility to play as a giant shark-man i don´t wanne shoot a gattling gun as my main way to attack, but that is given to the genre of the game which is a stupid choice, but that is no news. Thanks MauLer that you sufferd for us, i was eager to see how bad they fuck this up
Animated series waller did a smart thing by making a clone army of supers and even getting some on her side like captain atom. The best use of the suicide squad adjacent also in that series showed how Martian manhunt alone could solo them which is why they avoided confronting him or used other means to get him out of the way to achieve the mission.
Boomerang would NEVER have treated Flash's dead body like he did. While the rogues hated Flash, they respected him as well. None of them would have ever disrespected him like that. What insulting trash.
The main thing I dont understand and it completely DID NOT need to happen is to put this game in the Arkhamverse. I always thought Akrham games were Batman only stories, with his villains, in his city, as far as the game goes, Superman doesnt exist, Flash doesnt exist etc. (I havent played the Arkham games, wanted to, didnt got to it yet, so maybe they are referenced in there somewhere), then why make THAT Batman cannon to this. If this game relies on the multiverse, why not make this completely different universe? Why piss on the corpse of our universe's heroes? This could have easily been Earth-98411bumfuckwhatever with Arkhamverse Batman appearing as a cameo or better yet, not at all. Also, this is not what the Suicide Squad is for. They are not meant to deal with existential level threats. They go to some weird countries and do some shady shit for the US government that may or may not involve superheroes of meta stuff.
To be fair, the games always alluded to other heroes and villains outside of the Batman mythos being a thing. Even Superman is straight up name dropped in the games so we already knew people like him existed.
I haven’t seen anyone bring up robin’s death. This is Batman’s universe; yes, the other heroes exist here, but the focus is always on Batman…or was, and should’ve been. Then they just reveal that *Batman killed robin* …in a jokey cutaway with his bloodied mask on the floor. I hate everything about this game to the point of apathy. I’ve never hated something so much that I actually stopped caring, it’s such a weird feeling I can’t describe it.
Mootal had a better pitch for this idea. Where Brainiac takes over Superman and the rest of the League are distracted dealing with him and the Suicide Squad stealthily move around the city occasionally getting interrupted by a JL member who suspect wallers motives.
This "game" constantly has stuff going on. There's music, chatter from your buddies, communications coming over the radio, atmospheric noises, gun noises, meaningless numbers coming out your enemies, flashes, unlocking gear noises, finishing challenge noises, your enemies taunting you, your enemies dieing, and it goes on and on and on and on. Yet this game is completely empty. This "game" is trash.
god the sheer amount of plot armor just hurts WHY DOES WONDER WOMAN CALL HER FRIENDS BY THEIR SUPERHERO NAMES AND CALLS CLARK FUCKING KAL-EL where is EVERY OTHER GREEN LANTERN THEY SHOULD ABSOLUTELY BE HERE EITHER KICKING THE SHIT OUT OF BRANIAC OR BEING A PART OF HIS ARMY
It would have been nice though if they had her replace Flash at least in one of the two times he saved their asses. But alas women in modern media just deserve praise and admiration.

lol, I had wondered why, whenever I've seen a clip of this game being played, that every player was using King Shark, since I thought you had 4 options. That explains it!
Nah you guys are the victims. I think the voice director told the actor to do the most over the top accent possible so the stupid Americans will understand that the character is Australian. I say this as an American. It does make me wonder as apparently there are different Captain Boomerangs, are they all Australian? Flash just gets some people from the land down under doing shit in his home town and they all for one reason or the other give themselves the one of the most stereotypical Australian monikers possible while doing it.
'And so Rocksteady has exspired. They made great games, yet they ended themselves. As honorable gamers we will show proper respect to this fallen hero by... Naah, go on! F#&k them!'
You know how Boomerang cuts one of the fingers from Flash's left hand? Remind me, which hand does Flash uses to deflect Batman's bullet minutes after? How many fingers does he have on that hand? Yeah... thought so. I mean, AFTER he's been converted to Brainiac's side, ok, you COULD argue that Brainiac regrew his finger and (why not) remade the part of his suit around the finger. It's dumb, but ok. But in the same sequence where he got it cut, that's just sad from Rocksteady.
Is it weird that Lois Lane gave Batman a eulogy, yet (afaik) has nothing to say about Clark dying? Like if anyone should get a send off from her perspective, it should be him. I loved Kevin Conroy, big part of my childhood growing up, but the sheer conflicts this entire nightmare of a game and it's development just really shows they don't respect him as much as they think they do. Just depressing.
What they should have done is have Lois give eulogies for the entire justice league, saving the Batman one for last as a send-off to Kevin. Theb, for the love of God, don't follow it with a weapon unlock screen. Just fade to black and quietly return to the main menu, save any unlocks for when you reenter the game.
I don't buy Batman giving out his secrets for a museum tour. Kinda goes against his entire character lol

Have you considered he is Australian though? That is really funny.
That kind of stuff adds depth and humanity to villains, but the writers here are too spiteful to bother with that
AfutureV brings up a good point... he IS Australian
@@xpurplethighs7596 I failed to consider that
At least in the canon that i know of cartoon Flash, he's always known to be respected by everyone- even his enemies.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who caught that.
@@The_Glazerof course said men being white.

Keep whining
I've seen a youtube commenter desperately trying to defend him by saying it was a Deadshot "from the multiverse", and that's why there are two of them, because this game has the whole Earth-2 thing, so it's "obvious" that there are multiple version of every character crossing over all the time. The lengths people go to defend this game's story is something to behold.

Fun but also dumb fact:
You can spot batman just standing on the rooftops watching you throughout the game.

And they just kill him by shooting him.

Those profiles of the JLA are something special. Seeing Lex Luthor simp for WW and Deadshot call GL an Uncle Tom was...unique.
It's telling when the "people" this game tries to pander to trot out the defense of, "They're bad guys, so it's okay that they're obnoxious and unrealistic assholes at every turn!!"
Many of the DC villains, especially Batman's tend to have actual character to them, they aren't just evil assholes.

Don’t worry. I’m saving a space for them
This game clearly started development around the time of the first Suicide Squad movie in some form since one of the dumb things about the plot of that movie is that they assemble a squad of criminals with mostly lame powers to potentially kill Superman.
That's why power scaling is dumb.

This game should have been a single player story where Waller sends TFX to kill Vandal Savage
In Harley Quinns revenge she considered herself a widow.

That’s sexist…..Let’s fix that”
Like Who the fuck would nitpick that small segment in Arkham knight as if it was even a problem.
The idea that these bozos can kill the Batman Let alone the entire justice league at all is ludicrous.
such an fine fat 🍑 it was too, too bad we're barely see anything like it with modern game

To be fair the Voice work is the Best thing about this game.
I know the bar isn't very high but still.
@kellywilson137
Honestly, didn't cringe that much at the voice acting. The dialogue? I think I cringed so hard I ripped myself apart
Holy crap. With King Shark saying that Daily Planet stuff. Is he really Lex Luthor the Simp? None of that is in character.
WAIT! Even though Barry broke free from the Lasso of Truth, his reaction while he was under its spell seemed to bypass the mind control. It made me think, “Oh, that’s why they kept Wonder Woman free! Still should’ve been Batman, but maybe she’ll find magical artifacts similar to her lasso, or the lasso itself, to at least temporarily nullify Braniac’s mind control on the League.”
But alas, I can guarantee that the mouthbreathers writing this game didn’t even realize they made that a viable option.
Even in City, when she thinks she's killed Tim Drake she shows no remorse whatsoever
Shes beyond evil, and she doesn't deserve the right to tell Batman off.
I'm going to be the devil's advocate, but I think they only recorded the parts of the speech that we hear.
Lets defile his corpse.

the wonder woman stuff is just so weird to me.

Pathetic.

To be fair, a person may as well treat it that way since they're not making more Arkham games.
Why is the Suicide Squad dealing with this threat, where are the other Justice League members, the other Green Lanterns, the Teen Titans, etc?
Mootal had a better pitch for this idea.
Where Brainiac takes over Superman and the rest of the League are distracted dealing with him and the Suicide Squad stealthily move around the city occasionally getting interrupted by a JL member who suspect wallers motives.

I know, right?
And yet he was most mistreated out of any these other detestable abominations.
Imagine, a talking shark is far more tolerable than the humans.

As an Australian I would like to formally apologise for boomerang . I promise we don’t all sound like that.
As another Australian, I'd like to say it's only the bogans that sound like that. And even then, only the absolute worst of them.
Imagine designing a UI for 9 years and this is what you end up on lul
I read it as "designing a UI for 9 year olds"
Does it count as misreading if it's correct?
