    I have the last generation Carrera 41mm Day-Date, absolutely love it, movement now runs around -1 second a day although with lots of use and crown up I can just about eeek +1 second a day, it’s 8 years old and the whole piece looks fantastic with very little in the way of scratching or dings, she’ll be due a service soon but given it had a few years without much wear it’s not an overly stressed movement

    a surprisingly useful comparison between these two models; also I suggest holding them steady / on a support for a few seconds--for better viewing.

    I looked at both. Knowing omega will be a more respected brand in general and the fact that it has an in house movement it’s all around a better watch. But I liked the look of the Carrera better. I was bummed that they didn’t offer it in the larger size unless you got a day date or the gmt . I would have gladly paid a few bucks more for a larger dial but I don’t like the looks of the day date and don’t need gmt so I settled for the 39mm and it doesn’t look bad on my 8” wrist. I’m plan on buying the leather strap so I can dress it up a bit on occasion.

    The reason why I'm never going to buy omega AT and rolex DJ is because after I bought the tag heuer carrera (exact same watch as in this video), I don't see the need or desire to have another watch of this kind with high price tag.

    The Omega is superior in every way, but the Omega's cost for the watch and any potential service keeps it from being an everyday beater. I think the Carrera is fair game in that field, though.

    I own a previous gen tag 39 and it's brilliant. Great bracelet and finishing. They will have to update that movement as it's definitely showing it's age comparative to other watches in it's price bracket. Saying that, on the grey market tags value drops almost 50 % even for near new or unworn pieces which makes it a lot more desirable option.

      How on earth does the Tag win with a Stellita movement and tiny lume pips? You can buy a Tissot Powermatic 80 for 1/3 the price of the tag with a better movement and equivalent finishing to the Tag. The Omega is twice the price of the Tag but it’s also more than twice the watch.

    I don't like the date at 6. Bombe lugs are great but the premium on such a simple piece I can't justify as how often does one stare at the movement. I would pick an Oyster Perpetual over the Omega and pocket the change, if there was any.

    This comparison, is not profesionals. Omega is much more expensive watch, from Tag heuer Carrera. In my private opinion, only movement from Omega is better. Rest watch komponents are similar quality. Alsow dial from Omega, is a litle better quality. Price for this Tag heuer is 3$, for Omega 6$. Two watches, from two price levels. Thanks for movie😊.

    I owned the blue 38 AT and the white 38 AT - ultimately sold them both on after a few months because of the piece-of-shit bracelet and the thickness. 19mm lugs made aftermarket a myth. It looks like a near-perfect proposition at the beginning but don't be fooled. You'll meet your hero and be disappointed!

    • @luxuryfood3810
      @luxuryfood3810 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am between the 38AT in blue and the Tag Heur in silver. The bracelet on the Omega is much worse? How is not having adjustment? Does it scratch very easy?

    • @UCZ15
      @UCZ15 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@luxuryfood3810 lack of micro adjustment was a dealbreaker for me because I have small 6.2 inch wrists which swell up and down often. The clasp is way too long, it’s appalling. It’s too thick for a 38mm dial. Rolex do you a GMT Master II at 40mm with 12mm thickness. Omega insist on see-through casebacks and give you 13mm+ on a 38mm Aqua Terra. It’s not nice to wear if you have a 6.5inch wrist or lower.

    • @luxuryfood3810
      @luxuryfood3810 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@UCZ15 yeah that is what makes me worry because I have a small wrist but I am tall, so many watches of 38mm and Under look great on my wrist but don’t go with my presence. I think 40mm is my perfect size of wrist watch. Any watch from Omega you will recommend then ?

    • @UCZ15
      @UCZ15 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@luxuryfood3810 I also owned the 42mm SMP but the lug to lug was ridiculous (over 50mm on bracelet). Also the clasp was ridiculous. Then I was told by somebody that I should get the 39.5 Planet Ocean so I sold the SMP and bought the PO. It’s over 14mm thick and it’s top-heavy so it kept moving around on the wrist. The bracelet was nice and the micro adjustment was cool. Very legible handset and dial. Lovely bezel. Accurate movement. But again - the proportions just didn’t work at all. After all of the Omega drama I went through for 3 years buying and selling, I considered a Speedmaster - but decided to walk away. I got the call for a Rolex Datejust in 36mm and never looked back. Not a perfect watch but all the things wrong with Omega are fixed on that thing. I love it, and understand now what the fuss is about. Now I’m trying to get a 36mm Explorer. Hopefully 2023 is the year I get the call.

    These two watches are in different categories. The AT Omega is far superior. You should compare the TAG with a watch with the same specs.
