    The best thing to do in India is never give anyone a tip that asks for it. When I was there last year. I only tipped the honest people that didn't ask for it. Most of the time they didn't even want to accept it. The people that asked for a tip got nothing from me.

      @@stephin1612 i am from U.P. settled in chandigarh, i visited kochi, thrisur , trivandrum etc in march 2014 .. kochi can put delhi to shame , southern part of India is also very modern. and yes the hotel room service was not much pleasing even in 3star hotels in kochi.overall it was so relaxing trip, life is hassle free in south and less chaotic , hence people are more well mannered there and still attached to cultural roots.

    Mould is endemic in the tropics due to the moisture and temperatures. You see it the buttresses of the church and even the back walls of the posh Cochin club. The reason mould likes mirrors is because the backs of mirrors are coated in a substance designed to keep the silvering from tarnishing, but mould fixes to it and loves it. The glass steams up every time you have a shower and so mould + water = more mould which allows access to the silvering which tarnishes immediately. PS Clown man really made that little river trip .

    Kerala is a hindu majority state 54% Hindu, 26% Muslims, 18% Christian peacefully coexisting.
    In general, Northern Kerala has more Muslims, Central Kerala you will find many Christians and southern Kerala has more hindu influences.
    However, you will find all of these religions everywhere in Kerala regardless of the district. In south India, all are peacefully living together with no conflicts compared to the northern parts of India.

      Nothern part is poorer and had many invasions. Southern India was hardly invaded in its History, but for Northern India it all started from Darius in 512BC and ended with Partition in 1947. You know right close to 1 million people died during partition and none were from Southern India

    I wish we learned to speak english like that. It would have been so much easier. Now I avoid speaking english, because I sound stupid when I do. If I learned to speak like you, I would have spoken it almost fluently. I am a Norwegian, and that english accent of yours (which I suspect is from Scotland) is so way much closer to our language than the London english we learned at school, and very few manages to speak without sounding completely stupid. I can try to speak scottish, but since it crashes with what we learned, it never works very well and I sound stupid. I guess I have to live in Scotland for a period to master it. But is english, and just as good as the crappy London english we had to learn, and that is impossible for us to pronounce correctly.
    And if we learned german as the speak in Switzerland instead of Berlin, it would have been the easiest language in the world. But no, those of us who learned some german learned the most difficult type for us to pronounce.
    I think it is the norwegian vikings that visited or invaded Scotland back in the days, that was an influence of the scottish accent today. You speak english as if you were speaking norwegian, almost. Scottish and norwegian must be relatively closely related, somehow.
    Kerala looks wonderful! Yes, Kochi looks like a very clean city, and very different from what I imagine cities in India to be like. I have never been in India myself, so I don't know anything other than from the telly and the internet, but what I have seen from other cities, is way more chaotic.
    You said, unfortunately the communist parties are the rulers in Kerala, or something like that. But maybe that is why it is such a clean and nice place, because of the communists. I would said, fortunate, the communists rule Kerala. It looks like they are doing a very good job, actually.
    Every society must decide for themselves if they want to be communist or not. So Kerala is communist, but so what? They have decided that for themselves, and if those who live there are happy with communism, why not? Now in the times of the coronavirus, Kerala have done a remarkably good job with little resources compared to many other places with much better resources (like the United States). Communism seems to work really well for them. So I support the system they have chosen, to me it seems just fine.

    • @Naveenjotron
      @Naveenjotron 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kerala was 1st place in world were Communist party came in power by election. Also Kerala is not always ruled by communist party ,we have UDF party also. Communist party (LDF) come in powers in alternative terms only.

    • @smollilbean
      @smollilbean 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think kerela is clean because of communism or any political party. It's clean because of it's people. Kerela has the highest literacy rate in India (I think it's 99% or 98%) and the lowest poverty rate, it's just natural for people living in a state like that to have conscience and morale to not litter their land.
      Anyway, the videos that you on the internet are true, they're Mostly from some north-central indian states. Unfortunately, the north central States and east Indian states have the lowest literacy rate and that's why their behavior like that.
      If you ever plan to visit india though, you should definitely start from Northern most indian states (Himanchal, Punjab, Uttrakhand, jammu) way less population in these states and beautiful scenic mountains. Same with southern most indian states too, mostly high literacy rate, greenery,clean cities and friendly people.
      Definitely avoid the central part of india, but most foreigners go to these states anyway because they have the most historically significant monuments.

    Probably an older mirror with a silvered backing. If ANY moisture gets on the back of that thing, which it will in Kerala even without a shower with unlimited hot water, it will tarnish black in the same manner as sterling silverware. The only way to fix it is by removing the damaged section of the backing and resilvering it. Honestly cheaper to get a new mirror and send this one to the recyclers. Probably a few quid worth on that one.
