    There's just something so special about Bobby's voice now. You can hear the boy he once was and the age of the man he is at the same time. It's just beautiful to hear
    And he clearly Listen to Jerry and continued practicing his guitar

    Story time! I was at this performance and it was of course amazing, as you can see here. After "Only a River", Jay asked Bob what they'd be playing next, and Bob said "Masterpiece". Well at that time, I said "nice!" rather loudly (you can't really hear it here) and that's why there was some laughter and Bob said "we just got clearance to do this one". I went home that day very stoked to have had this brief interaction with Bobby. Really incredible day, all in all.

I have sooo many incredible memories of dead shows, all of the cool people and fun times. Ive seen over 100 different bands in concerts over the years. There is nothing that comes close to the Grateful Dead live. Hearing bob's voice brought it all rushing back, you have to appreciate a good flashback.

    That Bird Song: yes Mikaela elevated it to the next level. With that, the rhythm section quietly marched on. Jay with his brushes and Don keeping it in the pocket- big time. Bob Weir comes in an just transforms the chemical break down of everything in the room after doing this for 55 years. Oh, this band compliments wonderfully Bobby’s unorthodox rhythm playing, which is lost on many live recordings as well, especially with the louder instruments. He often seems turned down the mix. This is special one.

There is wisdom and real soul, his soul in his voice here and in his playing..., like a sage reciting a tale of the history of a family,... the Family of Man....having walked miles and miles and miles and finally kicking his boots off so he can drop both weary feet.........in the cool healing water of The River.

    Since experiencing this video last week I have been playing it nearly twice a day everyday. It is such a beautiful arrangement with the Wolf Bros and Mikaela's Harp playing.
    I am a new fan to Grateful Dead and I can see and feel the retrospect in Bob's eyes. I bet he has really seen it all.I hope to live a life as wonderous as him and the dead have.
    Wonder-full performance.

    • @jasonwilcox6334
      @jasonwilcox6334 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Um, no disrespect but... Herbie Hancock ? Wynton Marsalis? Bill Frisell? Chick Corea?
      There are musicians on this planet who are FAR more creative.
      This is a fine set, and in truth Don Was is the best musician in this band.

    • @mikesaunders4775
      @mikesaunders4775 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jasonwilcox6334 All very good too, but operating in a vastly different area so there can be no direct comparison. I like Bach and Stockhausen , but wouldn't dream to draw comparisons. On a purely technical basis Don Was is usually the best musician wherever he plays, but creativity and virtuosity are not necessarily synonymous virtues. At the end of the day it will always be about personal tastes. For most people music is primarily experienced through the emotions rather than by intellectual analysis, although the complexity of the field in which the jazz greats play will always elicit the latter, which is no bad thing.
