00:00 Ways t Wear Knit Tie Introduction
A knit tie is something most men are not always familiar with. Most men know regular neckties, 3-fold neckties with a pointed tip, on the other hand, a traditional knit tie is flat at the bottom because that's the way it's knitted and it's also straight on the sides, that means the top of the tie is as wide as the bottom.
00:59 Why you should wear a knit tie and what it can do for you.
A knit tie has a fantastic texture. By that, I mean it's three-dimensional when you look at it but also when you touch it because of that, it is less formal and it's more casual and therefore, it's very well suited for most outfits today which are not super formal but more casual and relaxed.
Because they're made from a high twisted silk yarn that really crunches when you touch it, it won't wrinkle at all so it's a perfect tie for travel or if you are prone to just throwing your ties somewhere and not storing them properly.
Three, a knit tie is different and sets you apart. Even though knit ties are popular with well-dressed gentlemen today, I would say the general public or the average Joe is not quite familiar with knit ties and so if you wear one, it automatically makes you stand out in a sophisticated subtle way.
The fourth reason you should invest in knit ties is because they're so versatile. They can be worn with a formal business suit and because of its more relaxed character, they bring down the formality, at the same time, they can be worn with regular sport coats.
Five outfit categories and ways you can incorporate knit ties into your outfits:
    03:17 Business suits
Most men wear regular neckties with them, however, a knit tie can add an element of texture to it, especially if you have a solid business suit in charcoal or navy. Another easy color to combine with blue suits is brown and therefore, a tobacco brown knit tie is also a great investment, at the same time, you can wear it with a lot of items in your casual wardrobe. So definitely a good tie to have in your tie closet.
    05:02 Blazers
No matter if you wear with chinos or maybe flannel pants in off-white, and therefore, the knit tie ties everything well together. If you like it bolder, you can go with your navy blazer and maybe a striped shirt and a magenta colored knit tie especially with a two-tone. It's a pop of color and it definitely makes you stand out from the crowd.
    06:06 Tweed Jackets
By definition, tweed is a more casual garment with a nice texture and rich colors. Because of that, knit ties are the ideal companion because they add a strong texture and just fit in very well in the overall scheme.
    07:19 Casual suit
Unlike a worsted cloth which can be pretty much worn year-round, flannel is particularly good during the cold months of the year because it has a fuzzy texture, it's heavier so it makes you warmer, and it's usually made of these mottled tone yarns which means you have a very interesting color depth.
    09:15 Relaxed outfits
Maybe you're the kind of guy who doesn't want to wear a jacket but still wants to be more dressy and likes to wear maybe vests, in that case, a knit tie is ideal because it closes the V gap of the shirt and the vest you're wearing and it just ties everything very well together.
    10:16 Sweaters
Just bear in mind if you wear ties with a sweater go with a v-neck because they really highlight the tie knot and a crewneck will simply hide it and it looks bad.

My dad had some knit ties in his closet about a decade ago. I made fun of them and I think my mom donated them all. Now I wish I'd inherited them...

I perfer Knit ties over silk any day. They're very masculine. Plus I think the create a friendlier and warmer look while standing out has a unique piece, even when worn in blues.

Knit ties, or just flat end ties in general, are really classy looking in my opinion. They're the right blend of dressy but casual. I've swapped to the flat end ties pretty much entirely and like it much better.

    Dear Sven,
I absolutely love your videos. In my humble opinion they have always been some of the highest quality content of their genre available to view.
Whilst, of course, respecting your need to make a living please don’t get drawn towards the “ infomercial / snake-oil ” style offerings that are becoming all too prevalent on line these days. The need to publicise your company is obvious but how many times do we need to be reminded in each video?
I hope my comments haven’t caused any offence, that certainly wasn’t my intention.
I look forward, as always, to your next instalment.
    Yours most sincerely, Al.

I think the way he does it is very natural and related to topics he’s covering. Also, he is filling niches in the market with great quality products. To me, it doesn’t feel like the in-your-face type of advertising such as when TH-camrs have sponsors and they’re like “go and order X now.”

This was a great video. Thank you Raphael. In years past I would walk right past the knit ties. But now I'm very interested in them. I don't wear suits or blazers very often,....but I'm hoping a knit tie would work well with just a button down shirt inside a V-neck sweater. I feel it would dress it up a bit, yet I could still wear dark washed jeans and monk straps.. Or maybe that's too casual an outfit for a ANY kind of tie. Not sure. I will check out the Fort Belvedere ties... Thanks again.

    • @muradmubin5638
      @muradmubin5638 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Anthony Johnson if you get the colours with the sweater and knit tie right, they’d go with jeans and monk straps!

Thank you Murad. I actually did pick up one knit tie so far. It was a pale blue/gray. It does look pretty good, but wish that I would have gone a bit darker with my first knit tie. I like the Fort Belvedere ties...but have not bought one just yet. I will purchase the ties with some sock I want to buy, there. But yes....those casual knit ties DO actually work with dressy dark washed jeans.

Hello Herr Schneider. I have been a follower of the channel for many months now. I have gained a lot of knowledge and terminology concerning classic menswear BUT, like yourself my mother tongue is german. So now I know all of these terms in English but for many of them I don't know the German equivalent. Can you think of a solution for this problem other than looking up every single word in the dictionary?

Nice video Raphael! Helped me clear some doubts about these ties. I'm planning to get some from Ascott and use them with some tweed jackets and vests, and a white jacquard slim shirt, but I'm afraid they will not match if I used them with a decent pair of black ultra slim jeans (CKs, for example) and some Dr. Martens Jadon boots. Planning to make a statement (contrasting somewhat-close-to-formal with informal), but I don't know if knit ties are suitable for such jeans or boots... The tie maker's aim for more elegant audiences does not help neither (if such a thing makes sense if talking about matching pieces, pardon my ignorance), so I'm kinda dubious about my planned outfits, despite how much I am in love with these ties, they would certainly help with the informal tone of it. Cheers!

    • @edo3297
      @edo3297 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

zoukatron yeah but the point is that, differently from a standard tie, a knit tie has a thick composition, that may be in contrast with the thin and solid tie bar

I see no reason why a tie bar or tie tack would not work with a knit tie. If the tie is too thick for a tie bar, then I would recommend a tie tack.
